The simulated world that the organization was studying sure was a strange idea... A concept that Yuina still couldn't quite wrap her head around. She wondered what it was really for, if not only for training and practice? The scenarios given were really decision intensive...[break][break]
At least no one was to go alone.[break]
And so as the simulation created a dense and lush jungle, Yuina found herself in this world with Thomas Benoit, on the back of a reptile Pokemon she'd never seen before.[break][break]
"This looks like the jungle where that screaming Pokemon is... I wonder," Yuina thought aloud, looking around for the giant screaming Pink Pokemon that she recalled from another run through she'd done. Though, where there was indeed an explosive, concussive sound that came through, it was not from that Pokemon. It came from a Volcano that was overtaking the entire jungle...[break][break]
"Run," Yuina shouted, moving further into the jungle with Thomas now as she bid the reptile Pokemon to run faster. This certainly wasn't that same jungle apparently, and a volcano threatening to consume them all was far worse than the deafening sound of that screaming monster...

Thomas looked around at his new surroundings. He found himself on the back of a Cyclizar, accompanied by Yuina. The humidity and heat in the jungle made the Kalosian uncomfortable. Despite this, he'd brave the unwelcoming climate, in their pursuit of answers.

"Screaming Pokemon?", Thomas inquired. Such a descriptor could be given to several different Pokemon, but if it was something in the simulation, then perhaps it was something he'd never seen before.

Before he could get his answer, a deafening explosion interrupts him. Thomas grimaced as his ears rang. Before he could think further, Thomas grabbed onto the Cyclizar, as it dashed into the depths of the jungle.

Clutching vigorously to the back of the reptiles that they rode upon, Yuina and Thomas raced through the jungle to try and escape the volcano's destruction. Fire spread with every passing second, smoke filled the air as it became hard to breathe, and the heat became unbearable, the magma flow was gaining...[break]
Yuina wanted to scream, but instead she coughed, her eyes burning from their inpending fate... Only barely finding Thomas still rushing beside her. She really worried about the realism of these simulations... Could this really all be fake?[break][break]
In the seconds before Yuina wondered if this was really it, the lava ready to consume them, everything stopped with a piercing roar that rang through... Everything, it rang through the air, the trees, the magma flow... It rang through the very fabrics of reality around them, permeating everything... Including themselves, and they were gone from the jungle...[break][break]
Did that feel familiar...? The way that they were torn from the jungle landscape... Yuina couldn't shake the feeling of familiarity as she coughed again, still feeling like she could feel the smoke in her lungs. Thomas was beside her, but her focus landed on the monster in front of them with a blood red gem and seething red eyes that glowered at them...[break][break]
"T-Thomas... What-what is it," Yuina questioned, barely a whisper... She was almost afraid of the answer...

Their attempts to outrun the lava were not working. Thomas looked behind him, seeing the lava gaining on them. His eyes burned, his lungs were burning. Despite the fact that none of this was supposed to be real, it felt all too real to Thomas.

Before the lava could consume them, an all too familiar roar rung through the air. Time stopped and distorted around them, rewinding and fast forwarding before their very eyes. That was, until the group whisked out of the area, and summoned to a familiar face.

Though something was decidedly wrong.

"That's Dialgia! But there's something wrong with its gem!", Thomas remarked.

As he saw the titan about to charge them, Thomas' eyes widened. "Fuck, run!", Thomas hurriedly called out to Yuina, as he attempted to evade the charge of the seemingly corrupted Dialgia.

Everything fell still, even time itself stopped on that rocky outcropping, as Yuina stared into the burning red eyes of the monster before them. She was trembling, she couldn't help it, the feeling of being ripped from that jungle just felt too familiar, and her question...[break]
Thomas' answer came and she felt a pain in her chest... This was one of the Pokemon, that could be responsible for what happened to her? That distortion, that tore her away from the present, erased her from her existence... Seeing it for the first time, knowing what it was, the image burned itself into her consicousness, one she would never forget... One she resented now knowing at all...[break][break]
Thomas' cry fell on deaf ears, Yuina was paralyzed, even as the Dialga charged for them. Even in this simulated world, where nothing was real, she couldn't escape the darkest parts of her shadow. She was face to face with one of the only possibilities she knew of that could explain what happened to her... And she was terrified.[break][break]
In the seconds before the monster would have made contact, Yuina still petrified right where she stood, the simulation shifted around them, leaving the rocky outcropping behind and settling into the ruins of a small village town. Yuina gasped, a trembling breath she didn't realize she was holding, her eyes glossy, cast in a far away stare.[break][break]
"Why-why did it do that? What happened," Yuina questioned, her voice broken, but the question was not for the attempt on their lives...[break][break]
The simulation didn't stop though, the world around them took hold and moved forward as townsfolk came towards them with a harrowing tale of what had laid waste to their village. And then, a creeping cold settled in the air, distant hoof stomps getting closer... A Glastrier rushing into the village grounds in its heavy strides.[break][break]
"Wait, no don't hurt it," Yuina called out, only barely able to grasp what was happening around her, villagers taking up pitch forks and torches. She knew this Pokemon, it was North, her Glastrier, even though it wasn't hers in particular, she couldn't bare to see the Pokemon get hurt here.

Thomas looked on in horror as Yuina stood there, paralyzed before the Dialgia. "Yuina!", he cried out, before the scene went to black.

This time, they found themselves in a Galarian village. A stark contrast from the heat and humidity of the jungle they were initially in, Thomas shivered. "Damn, it's freezing.", Thomas remarked.

Thomas turned his attention to the man. "A frosty steed? Sounds like-", Thomas began, before a Glastrier burst in through the gate.

"I got this!", Thomas told Yuina.

As the mob got the attention of the Glastrier, Thomas took the opportunity to sneak up on the icy steed, and climb onto its back. Despite the cold of the steed, and the brutality with which it moved, Thomas hung onto the Glastrier for dear life.

Stricken down to her very core, Yuina could hardly focus on what was going on around her, she hadn't begun to think that this world could show her things like the Pokemon she felt was responsible for what happened to her... Would she have been more prepared if she had known ahead of time? Likely not... The reality of it was sinking in, the realization that she now knew what it was... It seemed easier to hide from when it was just a name, a concept...[break][break]
In that quick moment that the simulation had shifted, and the Glastrier charged into the ruined village, Thomas leaped into action to undertake the enormous steed. Hanging on to its back, Yuina could only watch on as Thomas struggled, until the horse began to turn and furiously ran from the village.[break][break]
"No, wait! Thomas hang on," Yuina called, she couldn't let him go, she couldn't let him disappear, and so she took out her own Pokeball to run after the ice type. North, her own Glastrier, emerged with heaving, icy breaths, clomping his giant hooves on the ground. Even in her terrified state, Thomas' trouble was of greater issue, and she wasted no effort in rushing onto North's back and urging the horse forward to chase after Thomas.

After what felt like a painstaking eternity, the Glastrier finally relented. Unfortunately, Thomas found his arms and legs freezing to the icy steed. Despite how much he struggled, his attempts to free himself were useless.

"Shit.", Thomas muttered.

As the Glastrier galloped away, Thomas continued to try to free himself. No matter how he tried, the ice bonding him to the horse did not relent. The only comfort was that Yuina was following him, on her own Glastrier.

"Yuina!", Thomas called out.

Urging North forward, as fast as the great horse could go, Yuina worked to keep pace with Thomas just ahead of them as the other Glastrier continued its charge.[break][break]
"Thomas, hang on, we're coming," Yuina called, she was right there, she wasn't going to let him out of her sight.[break]
In quick strides, urged on by Yuina astride his shoulders, North worked to overtake the other Glastrier as he leaped in front of the other horse. Stomping his great hooves and rearing up to make it stop, Yuina hung on to North for that moment, and then everything changed again...[break][break]
The other Glastrier was gone, the village disappeared, now they were thrust into a dusty desert scape, the sounds of shouts and screams, rocks hurled in every direction... Yuina looked around frantically, holding on to North as the horse huffed and stomped again at the sudden change, when someone ran by them and unceremoniously disappeared beneath a boulder that flew through the air...[break][break]
Yuina gasped, shocked, frozen as she covered her mouth in abject horror... an outstretched arm falling limp and still beneath the boulder...
