frozen ground [sw]

Downside: Definitely not an Ice pokémon, even if it vaguely seems to resemble an ice statue in this cold cave. Cass quickly pushes that thought aside, shuddering as she thought about the lonely landscape in which she has found Eira, still alive and dancing. (Also very cold, but that seems to be a copper-steel-metal thing.)
Upside: Definitely up Cass' alley, as she looks at the mushroom like pokémon that got its feet frozen onto the ground.
"Why are you alone ... and here, though?" Cass murmurs as she approaches carefully, before coming to a halt a couple of steps away. Eira stands still next to her trainer, looking at the unknown pokémon with a determined glance that also tells everyone that she'd rather not fight. "You should be in a forest." Unlike with the Flapple, which she only had wanted to help temporarily ... ... "I live near a forest? Maybe you've also come from the Petalburg Woods, originally? Or well, before ... here, I mean."
(Also, the keeping Peter temporary thing didn't really work out either.)
(Her mom is so right about her adopting random pokémon.)
"Let me help you, and you can decide if you want to join me, okay?"
All throughout the conversation, the Toadscruel could almost not have glared more daggers at Cass, but deemed her harmless enough not to react further as the human takes out a pokéball to call her Fletchling Effie. "Hey, dear, could you use Ember to warm this up?" Cass removes a pure metal bracelet from her wrist and holds it towards Effie, who obliges carefully not to burn Cass. "Thank you!"
It does seem that Effie is quite weary of that stranger they're rescuing, but as always, she keeps things to herself. Cass looks at her for a long moment while the flame's heating up the metal, before deciding not to inquire further. If it's important, they'll figure it out.
As soon as the bracelet is warm, but not hot, Cass walks over to the Toadscruel, who by now seems to grow impatient, and holds the warm bracelet above the ice. It's quickly getting colder, but it is just enough to thaw enough to let the pokémon jump free. "Oh, hey, hang on!" she shouts, fearing that the cool pokémon might get away after all, and quickly throws a pokéball at it.
