He tugged onto the dark leather of his gloves. They fit more snugly now... Oh yeah, he was getting back into his mojo.

"My arsonist mojo." He mused out loud, turning to his companion for this particular episode of 'harassing the rockets'.

It felt like a bit of waste to have a Head Ranger doing this kind of work. Wasn't much better to make a surgeon help, either.

Oh well.

There were several ways to tackle a Rocket encampment/research station.

The medic preferred the one that set rockets back to square -1.

"Ever did some controlled burnin', Mr. Morales? This work's kinda like that, but the forest's tries to punch ya sometimes." He quipped the man's way cheerfully.

It's been a while since he's seen John Sullivan, even longer since they've caught up.

There was something roaring in the distance...eh, he chose to ignore it. If it wasn't in front of him and trying to kill him, caring was too much trouble.

"Well, you're gonna learn something new today, my friend." He said, dropping to his knees onto the ground and reaching into his case.

He slapped a very rough map onto the surface.

"We're early, so..." He shrugged. It couldn't be helped. "The quality of our intel ain't great yet."

Hopefully the scouts and satellites would pick up the pace... Speaking of which!

"Luckily for us—" Doug popped open a marker, casually scratching an x on the map, before slowly dragging a line towards a purple dot. "Just this morning, a rocket station was sighted and reported by our scouts."

He reached into his bag once again, pulling out a combat knife.

And ramming it straight onto the purple dot.

He looked at Ollie, grinning brightly.

"Shall we?" He asked, bending over to grab something. That shape... it looked like a gallon of— "I brought the gasoline, we should be good!"

That station was going to make a lovely bonfire, if Doug was left to his own devices.

The suddenness of the knife tearing through paper was a shock to Ollie, who blinked in response.

[break][break] "Um... yeah!" he responded back cheerfully, trying not to let the surprise linger too far on his face and probably utterly failing. Ollie had gotten a taste of what it was like to truly interact with others who felt so vehemently about the other organization, especially with the amount of time that he spent around paxton concordas, but it was still a bit unnerving to see. Ollie didn't like to put things in such black-and-white categories. He wasn't Eva Morales. He hadn't fought in the war.

[break][break] "Let's go then," he said with a nod, heading towards the direction of the marker. His eyes flickered briefly towards the gasoline canister and then back away. It was fine, it was going to be fine.

[break][break] "Hey," he said after a moment, almost conversationally. "What are your thoughts on the Amnesty program?"

[break][break] Not good, Ollie presumed, but it was best to hear it from the teat as his pa would say.

"Subtle." He answered with a laugh, eyes wandering back to the knife in his hand.

Not unjustified, he supposed. He probably should answer truthfully to avoid any misunderstandings...

Or.

"Kill them all, of course." He said, stone faced as he proceeded to stab every single purple dot on the map like he was playing five finger fillet.

He couldn't maintain the straight face for long, though— a snort rocked his shoulders after a brief moment, his laughter ringing out.

He shook his head, pocketing the knife into his sleeve. Somehow.

"It's fine. Don't really care one way or another, really." He said simply— before remembering. "Oh, ya know their frontman, Isaac Merlo? I made that man as hot as he is today. I did that shit. You're welcome.".

May as well find some humor in this deeply unfunny subject matter, he thought as he rose from his crouch, folding the map.

"Anyway, don't worry your handsome lil' head, Head Ranger." He said, shrugging his shoulders as he began sauntering his way towards their target. "It's been almost a full 2 years since I last called for death to all rockets. I'm a changed man~."

[break][break] Ollie winced. It wasn't the first time that someone he knew had expressed such distaste towards the group of people that he was supposedly representing, but it didn't make it any easier to take. annalise henderson came to mind almost immediately.

[break][break] His very political, Head Ranger-tone was cut off at the sound of the young man releasing a chuckle, instantly easing the tension in the air.

[break][break] Ollie arched a brow.

[break][break] "I wouldn't call Isaac their frontman."

[break][break] In fact, it wasn't even until recently that Isaac Merlo decided to participate in the program at all.

[break][break] "But you made him hot, huh?" Ollie let out a laugh, shoulders shaking. "I guess the two of us did a number on him — I helped him dye his hair."

[break][break] As they set off, Ollie followed behind the other, keeping even pace with him. Since John Sullivan seemed to have more experience here, he would let the other take the lead. In the meantime...

Since Ollie had taken a step back, the youth took one forward, bee-lining it for their target.

"Rehabilitation is the right thing to do." He said, his step never once losing its pep. "Even if I don't like the implications it brings."

The graphicness of the other's response didn't fail to bring a twist in Ollie's gut. He knew the other man was right, it was why he stood behind the Amnesty Program at all...

Doug nodded along to Ollie's words, gaze set ahead.

The station they were looking for had come into view as they spoke, but Doug never once paused, releasing an orbeetle besides himself instead.

It's eyes glowed, and whatever it meant only made Doug's march more certain.

"Logically. Ethically. Pragmatically." He said. "Amnesty's the right choice."

As they came upon the station, Doug finally came to a stop. Hoisting the gasoline he had brought, he uncorked it open, before casually throwing a good few litters across the front.

"Still... Call me petty." He said. "But my parents are dead. My childhood was spent on a warzone. My psyche has been 'permanently scarred' whatever the hell that platoon shrink meant."

He paused, before snorting. His hand slowly dragged over his chest.

"And don't even get me started on the actual scars." He said. "I look like I belong in one of those animes, except instead of cool my scars are just ugly and itch all over."

He paused, still pouring gasoline until it emptied completely. Casually, he discarded it, turning back to walk back Ollie. He fished into his breast pocket for something.

"Where was I going with this...?" He muttered to himself as he produced a lighter. "Oh, right. So yeah, I know I should forgive and forget. Peace of mind, ethics— lots of my friends are rockets, too, so I've got tons my own skin in the game. And yet."

Flicking open the lighter, a fire surged, before he threw it onto the station.

A barrier was quickly erected by the Orbeetle, standing between them and the site.

As the lighter landed... The station exploded.

"I still don't like the implication that Rockets should be forgiven. That whatever they've done, it can be forgiven." He finally said as the station burned in the background. "No amount of money or public service is bringing my parents back."

And yet, he shrugged.

"But I'm a hypocrite." He said. "I can't sustain this disdain against my own friends."

Which was why he struggled at all, really.

"Anyway. Shall we head back?"
