As if Jack and Beau's pronouncements were all that it needed, the Zekrom began to win out over the Reshiram. The battle was fierce and Jack winced at the cataclysmic forces that were employed by both pokemon. When a massive bolt of lightning struck the tower with a deafening burst that left him temporarily blinded, Jack reached instinctively for Beau.[break][break]

When his vision returned, the older figure was gone and a peculiar Light Stone all that remained of the Reshiram. Jack accepted it from the younger figure, his relief at their win tinged with sadness.[break][break]

Can Truth and Ideals not exist together? Must all conflict result in extermination? There was already so much death.[break][break]

Turning toward Beau, he noticed a stairway down into the tower that hadn't been there before. Looking at his friend he choked out, "I need to get out of here, mate."[break][break]

The tower dissolved around him as the simulation ended.[break][break]

Beau felt Jack grab his arm as the lightning struck, and he reached back blindly, less concerned by the lightning and more by the potential fall he stood to take if the tower didn't hold.

Fortunately, it did, and Beau didn't move to approach the younger man as Jack took the Light Stone, too absorbed in his thoughts. Did it have to be one or the other? Was that true of everything? He had never subscribed to the notion that everything was black and white - he'd met too many people, seen too many places, to believe that philosophy - or as much of the concept as he could reasonably wrap his head around - wasn't a tapestry of color.

Jack, however, looked even more shaken than he was, and Beau reached to support him as he moved for the staircase. "Yeah, I think that's enough video games for one day, brah."
