Before either of them can get a good look, however, big yellow ears perk up over the grass, accompanied by a gigantic roar. [break][break]

The both of them book it in the opposite direction, running for the hills. Only after they regroup, panting, catching their breath, does Tsubaki ask a desperate question to her buddy.[break][break]

"Was that... was that just a little doggy?"[break][break]

Her bulbasaur shakes her head, not wanting to think about it. It's too embarrassing. [break][break]

She huffs, finally, as the ape reaches into its ragged robes and draws out a bunch of nanab berries. As if it means to heal her. [break][break]

Slouching and turning away, her bulbasaur takes a long look at the wise master of the forest. She gives it a curt bow, and races after her master, leaving him behind. [break][break]

Baki turns to smile at the seedling at her side, only to notice an expression of shock. Vines twist upward and grab her, tossing her into the brush just in time, before a bundle of boulders falls and crushes the earth where she was standing. [break][break]

"H-Hey!!"[break][break]

Baki tries clawing herself out of the bramble, while Ai shoots a volley of seeds. Only when they connect, and the bird is tangled in vines that cause it to crash, does the woman manage to pull herself free.[break][break]

"What was--?[break][break]

"Oh... Oh! G-good job!"[break][break]

The girl presses a ball to the struggling bird on the path, giving an apologetic look to her bulbasaur. The little thing seems surprised at its own initiative. [break][break]

Baki creeps down the hill, hiding in the tall grass. Her bulbasaur remains at her heels, until... [break][break]

"Hit it quick. Surprise it. But... not too much."[break][break]

The bulbasaur stares at her with trepidation. Then, a careful path through the grass, right behind the poison gas pokemon. Then... [break][break]

"Now! Hit it!"[break][break]

She tosses a ball, while the pokemon's struck out of the air at the same time by a violent vine whip. Before it even realizes what's going on, the pokemon is in the ball. [break][break]

It's strange, taking a moment to sit and enjoy the scenery. Hasn't happened nearly enough lately. She gently pets Ai's head, and the bulbasaur mutters a groan under her breath. She has to give the appearance of being a fearsome monster, when that couldn't be anything but true.[break][break]

"Just like Aya..."[break][break]

They sit and watch the grass for a while, til a toxel crawls out of the grass and slumps down next to them. Watching, the baby follows. It doesn't seem like a threat. [break][break]

"Don't you have a momma you gotta go back to?"[break][break]

Baki asks, as the toxel tries to follow when they get up. The little thing just stares, as if not understanding. [break][break]

"Mm, well... come with us til you find her, 'kay?"[break][break]

They keep going, the toxel trailing them through the trees...[break][break]

Immediately, Ai glances to the trees, the toxel to the grass. Baki turns to look out over the water, and that's when she spots it - a water shuriken headed straight at her.[break][break]

"Wha--"[break][break]

She tries to duck. A successful maneuver, with the exception of a few stray hairs. She gives their pursuer a defiant look, and a wet, slimy tongue graces her cheek. [break][break]

"... What... the HELL!!"[break][break]

She punches the thing, whatever it is, and it tumbles unceremoniously into the grass. Right in front of the stray toxel, who performs an endeavor. [break][break]

"Si--... sick behavior..."[break][break]

She only gives the froakie a disdainful glance, staring down at it from her high horse. She offers it a pokeball of mercy. [break][break]
