Thea's father started the greetings, with his apprentices, and Thea, bowing and following the tradition of the introduction of the training. The Pokémons in the dojo did the same, in their own way, and as soon as the inital speech was done, the practice started.[break][break]

They started with warm ups, with some apprentices making duos to help each other, while the sensei made sure to keep everyone in the right stances and strictly made sure they wouldn't slack off. Thea was doing the same, especially with her own Pokémon that were stretching and preparing for the bulk of the training.[break][break]

But Thea couldn't hide her mild frustration, noticing that she would be singled out once again, which would make it a third time this week.[break][break]

With a sigh, she pouted slightly impatient, but soon, her eyes spotted a new person showing up, making her perked up and adjust her karategi, approaching with a welcoming grin. "Good afternoon!" She bowed. "Another one for our training? If yes, you have come just in time. We have barely started today's training."[break][break]

The reason she went to the dojo today, was to train herself. It's all well and good to train Pokemon, but if she gets another shoulder injury like she did from that Rocket, she needed to be able-bodied, and mind. That's why she's here. To train herself.[break][break]

The new girl that comes up to her short four foot eleven body has her stare, as Genny looks upwards. "Yup!" she says so happily, her face showing her sunnyside up smile. "A strong body promotes a strong mind!"[break][break]

With it, she finds herself staring, as her Poke-trio, Sherwood, Gordo, and Ky walked in, and began doing stretches, and following the instructor. To varying results.[break][break]

"My name's Genny!" she holds her hand out to the younger girl. "You?"

Thea's grin is wide at the newcomer's words. "You are right, I like you already!" She beamed, taking the young woman's hand with both of her hands and shaking for the greeting while bowing her head slighty, but not breaking eye contact. The hold wasn't tight, it was gentle and firm, giving an eager welcoming feeling to it. "My name is Thea, it is great to meet you, Genny." She nodded, then looking at Genny's Pokémon, sparkly-eyed.[break][break]

"Oh, those are wonderful Pokémons you have with you! I hope they are also ready for some training. It is good to get everyone into it, so no one is left out and everyone can encourage each other." Thea said with a warm and determined voice, letting the woman's hand go before resting a hand on her own waist and gesturing to the tatami behind her with her thumb.[break][break]

"Feel free to come in, ah! Did you bring a gi? Karategi, judogi, any works. If you don't have any, we have spares."[break][break]

The sunshine was infectious from the younger girl, and with the two handed shake, Genny's eyes would happily rest on the young girl. "Thank you! And it's such a pleasure to meet you!" Seeing Thea happy, sparkly-eyed to her Pokemon, Genny introduces each one by one, as they begin to take part. "Over there is Sherwood, the tiny Sandshrew is Gordo, and the yellow cat is Ky! They're pretty ready!" The trio turn for a moment, and while they give nods, the only one who waves extra hard is Gordo.[break][break]

To her question on gi, Genny's cheeks reddens, as she looks down to herself. "Oh, do I need one? I can handle that." She smiles, realizing she had come without the proper attire. She was used to yukata, but that was more to look beautiful.[break][break]

"Where are the spares? I'll get into proper attire! This is exciting, Thea!" Her light moment of embarrassment comes to an abrupt end. She's not even perturbed.

The return of a warm greeting brightened Thea up, and as Genny introduced her Pokémon. "They are wonderful! A cool, a cutie, a handsome, and of course: The beautiful trainer." She winked to Genny and her Pokémon, giving them compliments that fitted to each of them. She gestured back with her thumb to her own Pokémon while they were warming up, introducing them—[break][break]

"The Wigglytuff is Gominha, the Primeape is Zeus, and the Minccino is Belle. They are docile, so feel free to greet them! Gominha is a bit of an attention hog and Belle is timid though. Zeus is chill." She explained, just to let the young woman know what to expect.[break][break]

Thea didn't miss Genny's cheeks reddening, and she reassured with a handwave. "It is alright. The gi makes the training easier, and we don't want to rip your clothes by accident, right? Which mind you, are very pretty ones, and you need to tell me where you got them later." The see-through jacket in particular was a charm, and Thea needed more clothes soon. Her birthday was next month and she was getting taller. Genny's excitement soon pulled Thea back to what mattered, despite the clothes catching her attention for a moment.[break][break]

"Come with me~" Guiding Genny to the locker room of the Dojo, Thea shuffled around to find a gi that was around Genny's size. After getting one, she turned to the woman, offering it. "I will wait outside while you get ready. If you don't know how to tie the obi, let me know." The woman seemed experienced on this, so perhaps she wouldn't need assistance. Stepping out of the locker room, Thea waited patiently.[break][break]

All three Pokemon respond in kind with Thea, even waving to her own Pokemon. Gordo and Ky happily wave to the trio Thea brought attention to, both the Sandshrew and Zeraora waving and flexing. Sherwood just continues to chew the twig in her mouth, and gives them a stern nod.[break][break]

Genny looks to Thea and follows. "Your Pokemon are truly wonderful. Thank you for explaining, and the hospitality!" As she follow suit to the locker room, she would see the gi that was being offered to her. When she's told if she knows how to tie an obi, while Genny hadn't had too much, she did dress up for a festival some odd months or years back in Lilycove. "I got this!" She flexes her arm out herself, showing where Ky and Gordo get it from.[break][break]

Undressing herself, and redressing into the gi, she attempts to get the obi down properly. It's not easy, she messes up a couple of times, but she gets there.[break][break]

And before too many minutes go by, she emerges in her own gi, showing herself in the gi. "These feel really comfy." She pats herself down. Hazel eyes on Thea, she beams.[break][break]

Thea smiled happily for Genny's grateful words. It meant that both Genny was a grateful and polite type, that was pretty nice, and that Thea was doing a remotely good job. "Of course~" And as Thea waited for Genny to get ready, she tilted her head for a moment, noticing a lot of minutes were passing by.[break][break]

At some point, she even considered knocking the door to ask if Genny needed any help, but she refrained herself, remembering how confident the woman looked. Soon enough, Genny showed up, and Thea clasped her hands. "Great, it fits perfectly on you!" She nodded. "And it means to be comfortable, it should also help you to take the hits and the falls, whenever they happen."[break][break]

Gesturing for Genny to follow, she added: "We are going to have the introduction, stretching and warm ups. Then, we can get to the real deal—"[break][break]

With everyone in position, Thea bowed respectfully, going through the etiquette needed to start the training in the dojo. The greetings were given, and the start of the warm ups came. First, it was a bit of stretching, pushing the flexibility of the joints to the limit to make sure everything would be loose and ready for the training. At that moment, Thea took her moment to see how flexible Genny already was. "Some of these exercises may look silly, but martial arts needs a lot of dexterity and flexibility." She admitted.[break][break]

The smile from Thea has Genny return it in kind, the woman grinning ear-to-ear as she follows Thea to the floor. "Glad to hear!" she responds to the mention of the warm-up. Stretching and everything. Made sense, helped the muscle grow properly, right?[break][break]

When Thea bows, so too does Sherwood, Ky, Gordo, and Genny, the redhead's eyes closed as she does. First, testing the joint flexibility, Genny would nod, and begin stretching. She twisted her body around, her leg up high towards her hand as she assumed a ballet pose for a moment, she showcases a nice flexibility herself. Perhaps she took ballet when she was younger?[break][break]

When she hears a crack in her back, the look on her face is relief. "I've been needing to pop that for awhile. So much better," she breathes out a little, attempting to find a rhythm of in-and-out. Her balance was good too! Behind her, Ky was following the steps perfectly. Sherwood was attempting to as well, but Gordo? Sandshrew are cute, but stretching was not something the tiny guy was particularly adept in.[break][break]

By time Genny lets her leg back to the floor, she does the other, Sherwood coming next to her to ensure she keeps balance now, as Genny tries to get the other side to pop.[break][break]

"Maybe I should get into yoga!" she remarks, a little giggle from her lips. It certainly would be nice. Maybe she'll ask the Girlygang for a yoga meetup weekly...?

Thea was impressed by Genny's flexibility. The woman had shown determination and a lively personality, so Thea was expecting her to at the very least be the energetic type just like her, but it seemed that the woman actually had some training in her.[break][break]

Thea's pokémons, that were already done with the stretching and warm up from the start of the class, decided to approach their trainer and the newcomers, trying to help them out. Zeus the primeape approached Gordo, oinking and trying to give him the push he needed to stretch a bit more, but without hurting him. Gominha the Wigglytuff watched the Sherwood just in case she was doing anything off, but it seemed she had everything under her control. Belle the Minccino stayed a bit far, timid, but watchful regardless. [break][break]

When the back popping came, Thea blinked surprised, feeling relief when Genny looked satisfied by it. "Haha, you need to shake the bones to make sure everything goes back to where they belong." She chuckled. "A yoga would probably do great, but any exercise will work." Probably.[break][break]

Whenever the stretching and warm up were done, Thea would gesture them to reposition themselves, now with the addition of her own Pokémon in the training as well.[break][break]

"Alright, let's practice some fall breaks... The Ukemis." Thea said, raising a finger. "This is necessary for the next step, that we will be making pairs to practice some throws, the Nage-Wazas. They are great to handle opponents that are bigger than you."[break][break]

Gordo to Zeus would stretch more thanks to the helpful Primeape, and even responded in kind when he reverted back, giving the big monkey a big thumbs up, making the happy Sandshrew noises. Sherwood would make sure that Genny would be able to stretch properly, but upon seeing Belle, she would watch Genny go back to standing, before coming over, holding out a hand. The maternal Grovyle wanted to help the creature. They should all be together.[break][break]

Ky on the other hand would see the Wigglytuff watching Sherwood, and smile quietly to himself. Genny would stretch again.[break][break]

"No kidding. I did stretches before... NGHH... but this is something else!" Her body was happy to feel more normal, but Genny knew that she'd need to keep this up. That Girlygang Yoga day was all the more viable now.[break][break]

When all the Pokemon and Trainers finished their stretching, Genny rested a moment, as Thea explained. Ukemis. Fall breaks? Genny had no idea how those worked. But pairing off into pairs... she nods swiftly, before looking to her trio. They seemed to be moving already. Ky would walk to Belle, Sherwood would to Gominha, and Gordo to Zeus. Which meant-[break][break]

"Guess it's me and you, Thea! Show me how it's done!"

"A good flexibility will give you a lot more range for your skills." Thea grinned, raising a finger. "And a good fall breaking technique will make you more tenacious, and can really save your life. Hitting the head can be dangerous, after all." She poked her head for emphasis, and as everyone already eagerly make pairs, Thea could only chuckle and look at Genny.[break][break]

"Lucky me, for getting a cute pair." Thea took a step away first, clearing her throat. "Alright, before we start throwing each other around, let's learn the fall breaks first, the Ukemis. There are four main ones..." Thea proceeded to show how to fall on her back, on her sides, forward, and eventually even rolling, then asked Genny to try them a few times. If the woman needed, Thea would stay close enough to hold her in case a fall didn't feel right.[break][break]

"At the end of the day, all these fall breaks are fundamentally one thing—" She rose her hand. "The first thing that needs to hit the ground is your hand, then your arm, then everything else. This will cushion the impact anywhere else in your body, since you've already transferred most of the energy of the fall. And remember: Keep your head away from the ground!" Thea emphasized it.[break][break]

"When you are feeling confident, let's get the throws going~"[break][break]

TL;DR

Thea is teaching Genny how to do fall breaks. The main thing she needs to be aware of is hitting her hand on the ground first, and keep her head away from the ground!

More tenacious? Genny nods. She had suffered almost fatal wounds in the Icelands from the sword bearing dog Rocket. So, hearing that has Genny grin. "Got it." With the beginning of practice, Genny would attempt it. Not once, not twice, but a total of ten times each. She wanted to get a feel for each one, to ingrain it in the body and the soul. She'd have to practice a lot. With Ky learning it pretty quickly behind her, it was evident she'd take the time to try it on her own sometime.[break][break]

It's not particularly easy. But each break has her understand a little more. Piecing it together, she felt better. Thea's teachings were enough to get her mind together. And with it...[break][break]

"I think I'm ready, Master Thea." It was meant as a showing of respect, as she gets closer towards Thea by the end of the fall break practice. She was taking it very seriously. "I'm ready."

The woman was energetic and Thea sure loved it. The sheer determination, the effort, the discipline! Thea's grin was so wide that made her cheeks puffy and plumpy, reddened by the exertion of the training as well. Though the redness grew upon being called master Thea, making her avert her gaze with a sheepish chuckle. "Hahaha, I'm no master! The sensei of this dojo is my father. I still have a long way to go!" She declared, even if her ego had acquired a few points.[break][break]

"Ahem— Alright. As I've told you before, we are going for Judo because it is the best for those who need to defeat bigger and stronger foes! Judo looks like it needs a lot of strength... And well, it kinda does, but it is more about technique, and using your opponent's strength and balance against them!" Thea explained, showing how Genny should hold her sleeve and the judogi. "So let's start with some simple throws, like O-Soto-Gari. This one, you need to push your opponent like this, forcing their weight on their right leg, and then you need you strike it with your own leg to throw them. Like this... Don't worry, I won't hurt you."[break][break]

Thea applied the throw on Genny, but she made sure to make it slowly, making it clearer to Genny how she was losing her balance, even if there wasn't a lot of strength involved. When she fell, Thea made sure to hold her sleeve firmly, not letting her fall too hard.[break][break]

"See? Now try it yourself~ Do it as many times as you want, I will help you if you get anything wrong."[break][break]
