"That's me!" Shalin chirped back, dressed in some truly exotic attire. Wearing red, translucent covers over her eyes, with green hair inexplicably arching backward and hanging in midair, and every square inch of her arms and legs covered in Flygon scales, her SYGNA SUIT was the spitting image of the flying Pokémon near her. "Captain Shalin Nariya of Rustboro, and Hoenn's wildest Pokémon rider!" she introduced herself before clicking open several Poké Balls.

The first contained a Scolipede whose carapace looked corrosive to the touch, with exception of a saddle strapped to her back. She carefully split her half of the delivery between the giant, many-legged bug's seat and that of a Type: Null, which was within her second. The third contained a blue-eyed Beedrill whose green armor was similar in color to the suit she wore. The two embraced one another affectionately before she walked to the dangerous insect's side, where the wasp's seat was harnessed up.

Just who was this maniac?

"Great to meet you too, Thea!" Shalin replied before thrusting her lithe body between the blue-eyed Beedrill's wings. "That answer your question? Hehe!" she playfully giggled, Queen Zing's wings turning into a blur already as they silently warmed up, beating just below the threshold of human hearing. "It's a long way to Lilycove from here. Even by Pokémon it'll take a few hours. If your Drampa ever needs a break, I've got you covered!"

Once all the Pokémon had their precious cargo loaded, Shalin was ready for takeoff. "Queen Zing's a bit noisy when she's flying, so you'll have to speak up for me to hear you!" was the only warning Thea would get before the Captain snugly fit her earplugs into place. With a leap and a noisy drone, the insect was airborne. Even with Shalin on her back, Queen Zing's flight seemed steady and stable. Lathiel and Tari followed on the ground, Sandy flying high above them to keep their eyes peeled for would-be egg-nappers.

Without her Sygna Suit, vibration so strong would have made even Shalin's skin tingle. With it, it was no bother at all. If anything, it looked like she was having a bit too much fun flying north of the beach, several disgruntled beach-goers a bit upset at how loud her oversized bug was.

Once they were in stable flight, the Beedrill reduced the volume of his wings as much as he could, though they were still quite loud. They could at least communicate effectively now, at least. Such were the drawbacks of choosing a flying insect as s mount. To Shalin, though, it was too much fun!

"Whoo-hoo!" the Captain cried as Queen Zing zipped back and forth, Shalin looking like they were on the world's wildest carnival ride. Lathiel and Tari ignored her hollering, trying to keep a safe distance from Kulsh to avoid agitating him. Some of those not annoyed by her presence were impressed by how rapidly she was darting around, the Beedrill flitting and floating with helicopter-like precision. "They're rare to find, but if you can find a Yanmega, it's worth it!" Shalin called back as the beaches would soon give way to a wet, marshland trail.

When it was apparent that Kulsh wouldn't be able to keep up easily, Shalin reined Queen Zing back, the Beedrill slowing down and quieting her wings a little more. "Yanmega are actually louder than Beedrill are because their wings are bigger," she explained as the terrain beneath them transitioned from sand to dirt, the ground Pokémon. picking up the pace as the ground became progressively more damp. "But the noise they make is deeper than Queen Zing's because they don't vibrate their wings as fast!"

Noticing an aggressive-looking Golduck a bit too close for comfort, Shalin guided her mount toward it, yelping as the wasp arched her highly flexible back upward. With a noisy buzz, Queen Zing stretched the needle of her stinger toward the water-type. Thea may have caught a glimpse of how large and sharp it looked. Once the Golduck retreated, Shalin and her bugs resumed their leisurely pace alongside Thea.

"That's exactly it!" Shalin confirmed, smiling as she delivered her impromptu science lesson. "It takes more power to beat larger wings, so the sound waves have greater amplitude. It's frequency that controls pitch. Sandy back there can control her wings so well that she can mimic almost any singer. They make this shrill whining sound when she's going full speed!" She wouldn't offer a demonstration unless Thea wanted, for their large size also made them loud. Loud enough and shrill enough to shatter glass.

"I do have one!" the Captain answered as the southern shore of Lake Pyre came into view. "Flit was the first bug I learned how to fly with!" As the lakefront came closer, Shalin pondered how to best explain what her Sygna Suit, and Sygna Suits in general, could do. "How are your thighs holding up? Need a break? I could tell you about Sygna Suits if you wanted!"

While Shalin was no entomology enthusiast like John Sullivan was, she had been around big insects enough to know plenty about how they flew. "Not as hard as you think! I do have a couple more if you want to land and give it a try," the Captain kindly offered, relieved to learn Thea was holding up well.

An open stretch of marsh surrounded the rural road to Mount Pyre; they would need to fully switch to aquatic or aerial travel once they got there. "They're pretty amazing; when you get it crafted, you and your Pokémon trade a small portion of your essences with one another. So Sandy, my Flygon, has a part of me inside her, and I have a part of her inside me. It's that, the sync, that allows you to perform truly supernatural feats. Once we find a good place to land and take a break, I can show you what I mean!" The wild Pokémon in the area gave the noisy insect a wide berth; even poison-types backed away from the blue-eyed bee.

With Thea's approval, Shalin clicked open another one of her Poké Balls, a saddled Yanmega emerging from within. The giant dragonfly, Queen Zing's size and then some, curiously crawled toward Thea, his compound eyes on her and Kulsh. "This is Flit," she introduced the giant bug-type. "What makes him special is he can fly in any direction while facing any direction independently. Flying on him is really fun! Just hold his reins like you would any other flying Pokémon."

While Shalin waited for Thea to get into position, she further elaborated on the suit's inner workings. "While they're still being studied, it's my understanding how they work. A part of you lives inside your synced Pokémon, and a part of your synced Pokémon lives inside you." The benefits of a Sygna Suit were extraordinary, something she hoped to show Thea after they had completed the delivery.
