12 scale a megalopolis skyscraper, leap from one skyscraper to the next, or descend one.

15 search for suitable locations to set up camp/base (e.g. an abandoned building).

33 repair the elevator or find some way to get to floors 5-10. in these floors, encounter various rooms and corridors with flickering lights, laboratories, and ultra beast egg nurseries guarded by mad megalopolans.

36 encounter ultra wormholes that open up violently and randomly near you. they may bring other ultra beasts, inanimate materials, structures, or machines, or anything else within reasonable. they may also act as dangerous obstacles like black holes that attempt to suck you into their portals before closing. traveling into them would mean certain death— or at least, never being able to return.

This is Yuina's 4th time visiting Megalopolis and 4th expedition overall. This is Doug's 1st time visiting Megalopolis and 4th expedition overall.

"...And whatever we do, we have to be really careful about any light sources we have...," Yuina finished quietly, stepping foot onto the smooth black streets of the decrepit, darkened city of Lesser Megalopolis.[break]
Silence, darkness, everything belittled and smothered by the towering black crystal sky scrapers that reflected the rare flicker of artificial light. The fallen city was unsettling, a place Yuina would never choose to return to, but the one tower that stood in the city's center, trying to discern what it was for, what lay inside the higher the floors went... It was a mission assignment for a reason.[break][break]
She couldn't say she wasn't curious... Yuina had been to this place a handful of times already, but it didn't make the expeditions any easier. The darkness was stifling, speaking felt like such a disturbance that even the smallest utterance would bring out the seething monsters that lurked within the shadows. Yuina could swear she saw something moving out of the corner of her eye, a shiver running across her shoulders. At least these expeditions never sent someone to the other side of a rift by themselves...[break][break]
"Welcome to Megalopolis...," Yuina offered to her expedition partner, glancing out to the tallest tower that loomed over the darkened city streets.

"Cozy." He said as he took in the... dark.

And the occasional, distant, silhouette of a behemoth structure on the horizon.

As far as the league knew, this was his first time in Megalopolis.

That wasn't entirely accurate, however.

"Huh. Looks about the same as last time." He commented idly, before kicking a pebble of concrete on the floor. "Only... even shittier."

He turned over to Yuina, reaching over to palm her back spiritedly.

"Look alive, Cadet!" He said, grinning. "We've got our objectives, and we've got our expert."

He winked.

"So first things first— let's make camp." He said, the weight of their equipment still on their backs. "Lead the way, love."

TL;DR:15-search for suitable locations to set up camp/base (e.g. an abandoned building).

Even beyond the darkness, there was always an adjustment period Yuina felt like in trying to acclimate to the entirely black city. It was difficult to tell where street ended and sidewalk began, what was shadow and what was a black crystal wall... It was disorienting, Yuina would never wish this journey upon anyone...[break][break]
"You've been here before? How does that make me the expert," Yuina wondered, she could hardly be considered an expert on anything, even her historical expertise was a bit fabricated... Though it was difficult not to take the insisted compliment. How could she refute him?[break][break]
In spite of the still and quiet gloom that surrounded them, Yuina still held a soft smile as she began to move forward carefully. It was an easy reminder of how even just his words could bring light to the most suffocating darkness...[break][break]
The shadows broke around them, shattered by the blink of the light from atop the tower in the distance, Yuina froze immediately. She could already hear them, the light lingered, reflecting off of every black crystal surface, they were everywhere...[break][break]
"Where ever we're making camp, it's not here," she hurried, drawing out a Pokeball as the growling, hissing, inhuman groans emerged from the shadows, from every corner, the megalopolans being drawn out by the light.[break]
Yuina released Ocian the Salamence, taking to the dragon's back with Doug, urging the dragon into the air as quick as they could manage. The Megalopolans flooded the streets beneath them, staggering towards the light that then flickered and turned off, shrouding everything in darkness again. Just hearing them all, slinking back into their mindless wandering, it made Yuina shiver, her skin crawling.[break][break]
"Let's try to find a rooftop close to the tower maybe? I don't know how true it is, but we might be safe if we're not on ground level," Yuina wondered, moving Ocian forward and closer towards the tower they neared, there were plenty of dark crystal rooftops to pick from.

"Well, I've kinda been here. Once." He said, throwing a smile at his partner.

Not that she could see it.

"It was a... dream? Alternate universe? Something like that." He said, before waving his hand dismissively. "I'm not even sure if it was here, specifically. Just looked a lot like it."

And he was wearing Megalopolan Military Regalia, too. Best not to think too hard about it.

"So..." He pointed at her. "Has actually traveled through the city. Expert." Then at himself. "Thinks he might've dreamed about it. Possibly delusional."

What a reasonable way to dump a whole lot of responsibility on her. Ah well, the cute cadet would surely pull through! He had faith in her!

A flash. A shatter. And a shudder that rolled over the entire city as something within it came alive.

Doug's skin crawled.

"No complaints from me. Let's skedaddle." Turning to guard Yuina's back as she released her Salamence.

He rode behind her without complaint— locking his arms around her waist just to make sure he didn't fell.

"Phew. A salamence? Yer a full blown pro ranger now, huh?" He said, grinning.

Maybe if she showed off her Salamence to , the councilwoman would chill about her. Surely a girl this cute and trusted by a dragon couldn't possibly be trouble.

Surely.

As they reached the top of the skyscraper, Doug leapt off the Salamence— and unceremoniously ate shit, tripping on a brick as he landed in the dark.

"Son of a concrete who—, Damn IT!" He cussed and grumbled while holding his ankle— before something snapped and clicked audibly in his bones. "There it goes."

Avatars just cheated at life, seriously.

Rising back to his feet, Doug squinted into the dark, before raising his hand, summoning glowing magenta scales to just barely illuminate the rooftop they found themselves in.

"There's a door over there." He said, gesturing. "Should we go in? Feels like we'll get blown right off the roof if we linger."

Wind speeds at Skyscraper altitudes were unsurprisingly intense.

The mindless shuffling and the groans from below waned as they gained altitude from the darkened city streets, and Yuina drew in a breath to release the tension as she sat astride Ocian's shoulders. She was able to relax that much more with Doug settled behind her, arms around her waist as they moved through the air.[break][break]
She couldn't see his smile behind her, but she could hear it in his voice as he regarded Ocian, where somehow that made her a 'full blown pro ranger'. If it weren't for knowing that they had to be careful with light sources in this place, Rasza and Harrow were her typical mounts. But between Rasza's tail and Harrow's crest, they were both too risky to have here.[break][break]
"I guess? I'm not sure what Ocian has to do with that in particular... Working with him hasn't been that different... I don't think," she returned with a laugh. It wasn't as if her experience with feral and otherwise primal alpha centric Pokemon had anything to do with being able to work with a dragon said to be highly aggressive that should be approached with caution.[break][break]
Lofting on open wings, Yuina motioned for the Salamence to come closer to a rooftop they neared, and before she could set the dragon to land, Doug dismounted first. She couldn't quite see what had happened, but she heard a curse, and the disturbing and unsettling sound of the cracking of bone...[break]
Asking if he was okay was fruitless, she knew he would be... but as she got Ocian onto the rooftop to dismount for herself and returned the dragon to his ball, she looked at Doug as he held a soft magenta glow in his hand.[break][break]
"Were you accident prone before or after you could patch yourself up," she snickered, only making light of it because he was already standing upright. If he wasn't alright, there would be no jokes to be made.[break]
A stiff wind blew over the rooftop, and where Yuina wasn't keen on spending any time inside one of the buildings, if they could secure a small space, so that they could go back and forth to the tower that they were only a couple of roof tops away from...[break][break]
"We can try, maybe they don't wander too far into the upper floors of these buildings...," she returned, hopeful... There really wasn't anywhere truly safe in this place when the ravaged megalopolans could be lurking in every dark corner.
