It was kind of a miracle, really, but that didn't mean that those communities had escaped the mountain's wrath entirely unscathed. The fact that Eddie was even here right now, brushing off coal-black soot that fell like grimy flakes of snow, was a testament to that. [break][break] In the wake of the region's most recent natural disaster, Eddie had been dispatched alongside other recently recruited military personnel to partake in “humanitarian assistance exercises,” half-intended to supplement their existing training, and half-intended to provide some sorely needed relief to the locals. On this day in particular, Eddie's squad would be joined by a group of Rangers as they worked to reestablish some infrastructure and deal with any agitated wild Pokemon displaced by the eruption. [break][break] Distantly, Eddie caught the sound of someone barking orders. Rangers and recruits were being paired off to share their expertise as they worked, and Eddie waited for his name to be called, a little overeager and a little sheepish as the anticipation took hold.
