There's some part of weary Cass that seems to melt away with a chuckle, seeing how enthusiastic the Rustboro Gym Leader is about putting Cass to train. It's truly reminiscent of her close friend who'd definitely be supportive of this spontaneous action. She looks around curiously as she follows Cian, looking at the various training activities happening, before turning back to the gym leader.

"The weather can be really volatile here, definitely," Cass agrees, and not only because there's a somewhat active volcano, clashes of hot'n'cold airflows, torrents of rain ... "Unless it's snow? But even that's ..." ... the silent icelands, and ... of course, deserts.

"I haven't fought in a sandstorm before." She glances at the ground as it starts vibrating a bit, squinting for looks of anything that looks like three really steely hairs sticking out of the ground. "How do you even fight when you barely see anything?" she wonders.

as they settle into one of the training stations, cian nods at his gym trainers, greeting them with a smile before taking up his spot. it's then that an onix blinks an eye open, revealing itself and the way its entire body is shaped into an oval, making up the station in the first place.[break][break]

"Like a Castform," is slipped out of Cass' mouth before she could hold back that comment. Well, she's not wrong, probably. It still sounds silly to her. Hoping that Cian wouldn't hop onto that, she clears her throat and nods. "I think generally, I got the trust thing-"

She smiles fondly at the Trubbish in her arms, which she lets onto the ground now. Before she could recall him, Minsuk's also dashed forward, ready to enter the battle with all of his, like, 2 gramms. "Min- you know what, sure." (She still worries a bit that she can't, for the life of her, spot Rina's three hairs on the ground.)

And she sees the sand move. "Wait, do you mean like, now-now?" At least both of her pokémon seem ready, even if their opponent might- or might not be a Onix? (Those were huge.)

speaking of castform, there are several floating around the vicinity as they speak, all of which belonging to cian. it only seemed fitting for the weather gym leader to partner up with these whimsical pokemon.[break][break]

one of the castform, junior, busies itself with entertaining a guest, and for a brief moment where cian glances over, memories of Martín del Mar flutter back to the surface. he blinks them away instantly before turning back to cass.[break][break]

"and yes! right now would be good. but if it's onix you're worried about, fret not, because you'll be facing off against this guy."[break][break]

a LILEEP sticks its head out of the sand, waving in greeting.

Cass follows Cian's gaze as he looks at the floating Castform, and smiles a bit as the silly little guys. Maybe she would need to get one of them ... at some point. She's already crowding the garden and her pokéball shelf, so ... and she feels, she might need to properly train.

There's a bit of a relief that they wouldn't need to fight the giant snake. Liliep seems doable - even if ... well. She's nothing if not an underdog fighter.

"Jon, stay back a bit - let Minsuk fight." The little Cutifly seems extremely determined for someone of his size and weightclass, even as the winds and the sandstorm are picking up. "Minsuk. That's gonna be- very interesting, but I believe in you!" And she does. Heck, she'd believe her Trubbish could take on anyone, despite being proven wrong so many times. "Uh, and Mr Maher- be careful uh. There's three steely, sharp hairs somewhere ... I can't find my Alolan Diglett, sorry."

at cass' warning, cian looks at the ground and nods, suddenly anxious about moving around so he decides the best thing to do would be to stand perfectly still.[break][break]

"no worries! i'm sure we'll be safe from diglett, haha..."[break][break]

his nervous laughter trails off as lileep INGRAINS itself into the ground.
