Looks like the game had a little flexibility built in. With a devilish smirk, Ezra debated on pushing things further. Maybe going for a dip or some stupidly flirty comment. He liked seeing people panic. Even virtually.

This time, though, having a plan lets you make the eastern exit with ample time to spare. You feel the Hisuian Zoroark's claws slice the air behind you, both of you evading its clutches as you sprint through.[break][break]

Passing east, you find yourselves inside a large hall with similar lighting to the entrance, as well as similar-looking statues of Ghost-type Pokémon. Like the ones at the entrance, their eyes seem to follow your movements. The exceptions are the four in the center; their red eyes flicker like strobe lights but each stare directly ahead. Your ROGUISH SENSES alert you to an otherworldly presence within the inner set of statues, but you cannot determine the nature of this presence.[break][break]

Honestly, he had no idea what he even wanted this route for. Or why he’d kept playing after bombing on Little Red’s. But, at this point, he might as well finish.

Obviously, the inner statues were a trap. No doubt it’d be even worse than that stupid weasel a room over. But there was nobody out there who’d call him timid. He’d step in a bear trap just to spite the hunter.

As you take a close look at the inner four statues, your senses confirm the presence of an Alolan Marowak hiding within each one. They leap out, becoming fully material in an effort to ambush you and Shalin.[break][break]

The leader of the four twirls her bone-staff with great skill, launching green fireballs down a column of the grid in both directions. Your quick reflexes buy enough time for Shalin to fight back with her Alolan Ninetales' AQUA TAIL. A stray fireball does singe the fairy fox, but the Water-type pummeling hits far harder. With their leader dispatched, the others retreat.[break][break]

Moments later, you hear the sound of a jingling keychain: a wild Klefki begins circling you, excited that the Pokémon haunting it have been defeated. It circles Shalin, then you, a particularly large silver key hanging in the center of its keychain. As you wander the tomb, it seems keen on following you.[break][break]

You got a SMALL KEY! This key will open any one lock. You can use it only in this dungeon.[break][break]

Your new fairy-type ally will surely open up new paths for you.

With the small, mischief-loving Fairy-type in tow, you and Shalin head back to the oblong chamber with the wall of souls separating outside from inside. You give the order for Klefki to unlock the door. It inserts the key into the lock and turns its body, the four chains falling limp as the lock releases.[break][break]

A dimly lit, narrow passage forces you and Shalin to advance single-file. You can hear her mount's breathing echo behind you; for an Alolan Ninetales, she has strong lungs![break][break]

You emerge from the narrow tunnel on the other side of the wall of souls separating the dark, tombstone-filled room. If the room was a bit brighter, you could read the tombstone's inscription. As is, you can only see two unlit box torches surrounding the tombstone.[break][break]

Your ROGUISH DEXTERITY lets you dodge the first sphere of BITTER MALICE effortlessly, but you run out of room to avoid the second. Its hatred stings like a wall of thousands of needles, causing you to scream in agony. The echoing wail catches Shalin's immediate attention, her Alolan Ninetales quick to emit a DAZZLING GLEAM right in front of the ghost-type's face. Its haunting voice echoes all around you as it disappears into thin air:[break][break]

As Shalin leads the way back into the coffin room, the curse covering it seems to be lifted, the four torches remaining lit and warding roaming ghost Pokémon away. Albeit with time and effort thanks to moving heavy debris out of the way, you discover a hidden passage leading west of the coffin chamber, as well as confirm your suspicions: underneath the coffin's lid is a staircase leading deeper into the Forbidden Crypt. You and Shalin head to the back of the coffin room and head down the secret passage beneath it, taking you to the crypt's lower level. You are immediately greeted by a wide hall containing eight Golurk in an octagonal formation. Near one of them appears to be a floor switch. The lighting in the hall is low enough that you cannot immediately see to its west and east ends.[break][break]
