With leads on the Curator more or less drying up, Eddie mostly found himself running the simulations as a sort of sport. It was an excellent means of training, and some of the scenarios were actually pretty cool! He grinned as he phased into this particular scenario and met with his partner for the day, [break][break]

“Yo!” Eddie replied with a jovial wave, “Nice to meetcha; I'm Eddie!” [break][break]

But before pleasantries could truly be exchanged, a loud scream surged through the air. Eddie nearly jumped out of his skin, slapping his hands over his ears to try and muffle the overwhelming noise. He vaguely registered his comrade's attempt at communicating with him, but the other man's efforts proved to be fruitless, [break][break]

“What?! I can't hear you, this thing's too fuckin' loud!” [break][break]

He had to get this overgrown Jigglypuff to shut its trap somehow, and Eddie knew just the Pokemon for the job. Only moving one of his hands long enough to unclip a Poke Ball at his belt, Eddie called for his Buzzwole, who he figured would be right at home in this humid, prehistoric jungle. [break][break]

Another bonus was the fact that the extraterrestrial bug was almost uncannily adept at reading body language. All it took was for Eddie to give a glower and a nod towards the Scream Tail for Ajax to reply with a flex before moving to LUNGE at the cacophonous creature.

“Nope!” Eddie called back cheerfully, “But I am yer standard military grunt. 'Bout as low as you can get on the League's totem pole.” [break][break]

Though yeah, sure, this super buff mosquito probably wasn't standard issue for your average recruit, but hey, Eddie couldn't help the fact that he kept stumbling upon cool new friends just about everywhere he went. [break][break]

He was half-tempted to start yapping about how he and his extraterrestrial companion met until the sky suddenly darkened. Eddie peered up, puzzled, and watched impossibly massive sheets of paper move to smother their world in their descent. Ajax peered up too, antenna twitching quizzically, [break][break]

“Huh, that don't look good.” [break][break]

Neither moved to do anything but watch the show from behind the Meowstic's SPIKY SHIELD, though. Hell, what else could you do in a scenario as absurd as this?

The shift from the humid jungle to the Galarian battlefield of old was about as abrupt it could get. Eddie hardly had time to recover before he he heard the screeching call of Eternatus, the angel of the abyss, enemy of all life on this earth, as it soared through the air over their heads, [break][break]

“I, uh, think I know what you mean.” [break][break]

But they wouldn't be completely unarmed in their defense against the poisonous dragon. Eddie spied the two weapons laid out for them and realized that his companion was kind enough to let him pick first. There was something nostalgic about the sight of them, and some willful childhood memory made the choice all the easier. [break][break]

In a few short steps, Eddie moved forward and pulled the SHIELD out from its rocky home. He had always preferred the power of the guardian to the power of the warrior, a fact that had not changed even after some twenty-odd years.
