Because he's captain leaving the base isn't something he does as often as he used to. Too busy working on everyone else's schedules, sorting out contracts for future missions his rangers could divvy up, as well as trying to think of different training protocols for his Rangers new and old to keep them in shape for the war to come. Not to mention now the organization of his Ranger's pokemon to be within his personal system to have them as just 'Ranger Pokemon.' [break][break]

With so many things he doesn't really have the time to focus on his own training as much as he had wished. So he sent a message out to an old contact of his, Hoenn's newest Champion Melody Miro. Honestly he was proud of her, how far she got herself despite her parental situation reminding him so much of his own. [break][break]

Thankfully she said yes about coming over so now he just sat in his office filling the time on everything on his todo list while he waited. Once Melody had arrived his secretary would've shown her into his office for the Champion to see the sight of a mostly clean office thanks to Salem who could be seen filing some papers for him. Instantly stopping though as the Meowstic would jump at her in welcome. His Captain's jacket off due to the heat being what it was even within the air conditioned office, she may have noticed the bags under his eyes from his lack of sleep the past few days.[break][break]

"Afternoon, thanks for coming," he greets with a light and tired smile.

She lifts the shades off of her face as she walks past of him and takes off her outfit. There were bags under her eyes despite her beaming smile. Seems like neither of them were getting any sleep.[break][break]

"But really? Training you?" she asks to double check "I'm surprised to hear you want to train, I thought even FERNANDO SILPH couldn't get his grubby hands off of you for his security detail." she ask as even the mere thought of Fernando's presence pissed her off.

Because he is him he can't help but tense a bit at the hug. Though considering it was Melody he finds himself able to slightly return it with an awkward one armed hug back. Though that's the best he could really do as psychical affection was not something he did in any sense of the word, platonic or not. [break][break]

And while Razz seems to just look past the bags under her eyes Salem easily takes notice and pokes Razz and seems to ask the question so that he would to. "Oh uhhh Salem ask if everything is alright?" he questions as he points to his own eyes as if to point out her own. [break][break]

He shrugs at the question about training. "I'm alright, I can hold my own against your average trainer at best, plus being war trained helps. However the target I'm trying to get is better than me, and I feel training from Hoenn's new Champion would be helpful."

"Who's your target?" she asks curiously, wondering if razz would share that with her.

"I can relate, I know I didn't adjust too well for Head Ranger," he admits to hoping to help find some common ground there. While he doesn't know the full responsibilities that came with being 'Top Champion' but he has no doubt there is it something. Least with his old position it was mostly the Rangers than looked to you, Champion spot seemed to be like the whole region was. "Least the celebrity life is something you're no stranger to?" he attempts an awkward chuckle as he attempts his joke to lighten the mood of it. [break][break]

He pauses after the question, having all intentions to share with her who he was after. Though he seemed to be more debating on how much he wanted to share, "One of Rocket's Underboss, THEO BECKETT," again as pause as he tries to consider things, its not like the information wouldn't come from ollie morales sooner or later, "The man is trying to blackmail me and now wants a favor, I agreed to owe him but only as a ruse. I'm hoping once he contacts me for whatever it is he wants I can set a meeting with him, make sure to call the league for back up and yeah..." and capturing the man like this was the main plan. The success rate for it he wasn't sure though. [break][break]

"But in the case I can't get back up in time, I want to be sure to be strong enough to properly fight back"

"Theo?" THEO BECKETT? What could he possibly have on razz as blackmail? [break][break]

She remembers that Razz had shared with her about his past history with his parents. Was it about that? What else could it be? It wasn't exactly any of her business as the only other thing she could think of would be something about was Eris Halla. [break][break]

She shakes the thought out of her head, he was a friend and she'd always help a friend regardless of the reason. "Hmmm Theo huh? Well I've battled with him before. When you see him ask if they ever got my feedback on the chicken sandwhiches are. He'll love that."

She however hesitates. "But if you're going against Theo I really can't afford to hold back then. You sure you'll be able to handle me at my maximum Razz? It's the only way I think you'll improve." would he back down now before the fight has even begun?

Razz just blinks his one visible eye at her in confusion, clearly he was missing the joke here. "Did you two have... lunch together or something?" he can't help but question not sure where that came from. He can't help but look to Salem as if the cat would know if this is some thing he missed, but all he does is shrug. "But I guess....?"[break][break]

Though it seems the jokes didn't last too long as she went on the more seriousness of the matter. Tired or not he was going to be ready and he gives a simple nod to her, "I've no intention on losing to him, and if handling you at your worse gets me there then bring it," he isn't the Underboss' student anymore, he isn't some teen fighting for his approval anymore. [break][break]

Another pause.[break][break]

"But not in my office please, we have the courtyard outside for this," and with that he would grab the jacket of his Sygna Suit rather than his Captain's Jacket. With that on he would lead her outside to where he made sure to warn the Rangers not to use while Melody was here. Let the space be open for their battle as he definitely needed the practice now with the suit's new upgrades he got from the league.

"Nah. When I was trapped in the rocket sub and he tried to talk to me I threw a fried chicken and mayo sandwhich at him." she still remembers the satisfaction she felt from landing it.[break][break]

it felt bad wasting the food but still. [break][break]

She starts to move towards the courtyard but she had a point. As the emerge into the courtyard, Melody grins as she knew she was about to pull a fast one on him "Think fast!" she says as she immediately throws out three pokeballs "Crescendo." she orders [break][break]

An Oricorio, a girafaiai and quaquaval take to the field and immediately try to jump at Salemn with different elemental attacks. "Sorry but Theo isn't gonna give you a warning when he attacks! You gotta be ready!" she says as Melody rushes to the opposite end of the field to take her place. However despite what razz thought about his own battling skills, Melody knew that Salemn was strong.

There is a moment of genuine laughter coming from Razz as he hears the story. While he is sure having been a prisoner of Rocket was no laughing manner the idea of his old teacher covered in chicken and bread was a funny thought. He could only imagine had that happened when he was younger in one of the man's classes and one of the students had thrown their food at the man. Razz had no doubts that said kid wouldn't have been heard from again, and yet here Melody was now, "Good one" [break][break]

Once they're outside the sounds of pokeballs opening was no surprise to him, though he definitely wasn't expecting it this quickly. She wasn't wrong, Theo wouldn't wait for him to be ready but, "Its called homefield advantage," he simply comments back as Salem brings up his SPIKEY SHIELD to protect him and Razz from the sidelines, already out of their pokeballs and ready to strike thanks to a pre-command. [break][break]

The shield barely holds as it was three on one, but from afar Yellow aim a STEEL BEAM at girafaiai while Wyn strkes with a PSYCHO CUT toward the quaquaval. "You know I was only expecting a double battle, but thankfully my Pawni-Ranger's leader is always watching" [break][break]

Question now was would all three be able to measure up to Hoenn's Champion.

A sniper? Melody grabbed her phone's camera and zoomed in to where the beam came from as her girafaiai is attacked and quaquaval was as well. "Shake it off it's alright!" she cheers it on as the pokemon licks it's finger and growls at Razz's pokemon.[break][break]

So they had a set routine from before the battle even started? She was familiar with this, FERNANDO SILPH did something similar with his whole battle routine set shtick. All she had to do was overwhelm them. "Girafaiai, doodle." she says as girafaiai scans oricorio and paints her visage onto it self and quaquaval and makes her pokemon's team ability DANCER. [break][break]

"Good anticipating me jumping you, but you shouldn't give me a chance to breath." she says as suddenly Melody pulls out a syngasuit core and clothing wraps around her body from the orb to imitate her oricorio's design. She's suddenly dressed as a cheer leader as she shakes her pom poms and activates the suit's ability. Her tier 3 sygnasuit activates and Melody suddenly starts to cheer on her pokemon using SWORDS DANCE and they COPY HER VIA DANCER [break][break]

"Oh yeah, You've never seen my sygnasuit activate before....Good luck! It's something I wish I got to use during my gym challenge!" she grins cheerfully as she was about to show razz the true extent of her strength. Melody's oricorio unleashes a REVELATION DANCE that gets copied, An AQUA STEP that gets copied all towards razz's immediate team. She didn't yet have an answer for the pokemon off in the distance.

Realization hits quick on exactly what was going on as Melody activates her sygna suit to use SWORD DANCE and the doodle pokemon transfers the Dancer Ability to the allies. Oh no, this was going to be a devastating blow. Razz looks to Salem who just shoos his trainer as he knows what they want to do he gives a simple nod before he gives a double whistle as he runs off to the side. [break][break]

Meanwhile Salem is hit directly and for a moment his body looks twisted from the combined attacks until a moment later where he looks fine, his DISGUISE keeping him safe from the second round of blows. Wyn is quick enough to get to the Meowstic's side by the time the third wave comes at them. the Iron Valiant using WIDE GARD as all three come at the duo. The triple attack is able to get through to do some damage to both Wyn and Salem but the cat has managed to use himself ROLE PLAY with the slight opening to give himself DANCER now that this disguise was broken. [break][break]

Razz clicks his tongue twice in an odd pitch as Yellow enters the battle now as if having waited for the signal as it's blade seems to grow before it slams it down with KOWTOW CLEAVE in the middle of the trio of enemies with no particular target being aimed at. Rather to break the ground to make movement more difficult for the others, as well as bring up dust to distract the champion. The Ranger captin trying to use the cover before he would take out his Baton and try and swipe at Melody's legs to knock her down. [break][break]

'Target the trainer and the pokemon follow.'

A lesson that couldn't help but stick with him and he still used to this day. And already Melody had started this battle in comparing to Theo so would he.

Regardless now she had to be more careful as to what move she'd use with salem able to copy every dance unleashed. "Seems you already found out the weakness to my strategy. However." she says as she grins, her girafaiai unleashes an ENCORE onto salem. However it's not as fast as it would be as now Prankster was removed. [break][break]

The KOWTOW CLEAVE manages to rip the earth apart into massive chunks as dust explodes from the spaces that razz had created giving the entire arena a smokescreen. She's barely able to anticipate razz coming towards her, she cant take her blade out in time so she focuses on dodging the attack via a dance move as she uses FEATHER DANCE on him directly to weaken his striking damage. [break][break]

She tries to leap back after the attack and notices something odd about the way that Razz commands his Pokémon. It's familiar, where did she recognize it from? [break][break]

It sent a shiver down her spine for some reason. Her Pokémon unleash a FEATHER DANCE ASSAULT ON EVERYONE. "Duckling!" she calls out as the Pokémon knows what to do next, it sinks into the ground and uses SHADOW SNEAK to try and push razz off of her with a swift kick Oricorio uses mirror move and copies the maneuver but instead of using it to push razz it sneaks over to the yellow king gambit.

Knowing his roll as the support for the group Salem already knows his next move before his trainer can even order he goes for a HELPING HAND. It helps greatly as all the pokemon with DANCER become active. Himself included as he follows the others and uses FEATHER DANCE and focuses on Quaquaval to lower their attack before the doodle pokemon hits him with ENCORE. [break][break]

Razz doesn't say anything in response only giving a simple smile as the champion recognizes the placing that he has tried to put into all of this. Though as she calls for her pokemon he gives a small side glance as it already seems like things were working as 'Duckling' was trying to get him off his trainer rather than focus on his pokemon. The SHADOW SNEAK strikes and he is knocked back, he thinks back to his old training, as well as time of war, this wasn't the first time he's been hit by pokemon and it wasn't his last he could hold his own. [break][break]

The captain gives a set of whistles and his pokemon know what to do as both Yellow and Wyn attempt to strike together as wyn uses LEAF BLADE as Yellow tried NIGHT SLASH on Quaquaval as its the one that tried to attack their trainer. Though the SHADOW SNEAK from the Oricorio's Mirror Move strikes and faulter's both of Yellow's speed and aim with it's already lowered attack due to the Feather Dance [break][break]

"Can't be having you help them again," he mutters as his own SYGNA SUIT now properly activates as he would use PSYCHIC to try to prevent the champion from dancing anymore. That or leave it so her pokemon have to focus on him to protect their own, leave them open for his own pokemon to strike.

Psychic energy binds Melody in place momentarily as she finds herself unable to dance. "You cheeky lil!" she says cheerfully as Melody had to continue to be unpredictable to razz.[break][break]

Quaquaval is slammed by both the night slash and the leaf blade and the subsequent FEATHER DANCE weakens quaquaval It decides to use ROOST to try and restore it's health. Grifaiai release toxins into the palm of it's hand in a small orb and then places it's palm out towards the IRON VALIANT and uses ACID SPRAY to try and weaken the composition of it's body momentarily.[break][break]

Now came the chaos. Oricorio starts to move to a strange rhythm as she forces everyone to use TEETER DANCE and ensure that everyone on the field was confused. "Take that! Let's see you use your whistle now." she says as she stumbles to her feet and falls over due to the confusion that was also inflicted upon them due to their proximity to the dancers.[break][break]

This was a gambit to give her breathing room, even if it restricted her out autonomy.
