War's coming, but there are still moments to find peace. Sootopolis's park is peaceful. The dog can't get much of a read on the people and the mood beyond this: there's tension in the air. How could there not be? Anyone, even a two-legged animal, can sense that something is coming. That it hasn't come already, he counts as a small miracle.[break]
His small collection of Pokemon enjoy the day. His phone sits in his breast pocket. Though his security staff at the casino are well-trained, one call from Yumi Hasegawa and he rush there to handle any situations that might arise. For now, he sits by a pond, watching the old Lapras who won't leave him alone lounge, and thinks on what will soon happen.[break]
"Man, Brownie, I gotta work on building up my team. Math Dilf did a number on it when Admin Fox got Regice." Jubei, one of his only combat-ready, non Ultra Beast Pokemon, floats about, poking at trees with his ghastly blades.

War's coming, but they still have a few moments to breathe.[break][break]

Tempest passes Hitoshi Inoue a lamb shawarma, still crispy and wrapped in foil. One of the nice things about the park was the occasional street food vendors. Even under Rocket's grip the city still needed to eat.[break][break]

Slushie wandered the park, sniffing at anything interesting. She spots Jubei, barking at him before spitting out a small spray of water to try and catch the other pokemon's attention. Her long, purple tail wags slowly.[break][break]

"I'm always down to help folks train." Is offered; it was his main job before his promotion.

“Damn, this food’s good…” Like a ravenous beast, he bites into the spit of meat and watches as Jubei chases after the Vaporeon in playful anger. Lapras watches over both of them, lounging like he owns the whole pond. [break]
“I got into SPECTRA, so trainin’ will be good. I’ll need all of it I can get.” They’ll throw him to the wolves now. The worst of the worst. Doubtless there’ll be plenty of frontline fights, and behind enemy line assassination attempts. [break][break]
“So like, I’m not an all out war guy. How do we know when we’ve won or lost? Hell, how’d we figure out we won last April?”

"I'unno." Was the eloquent answer, given with a shrug and all. Temp takes another bite, a bit of sauce sticking to the corner of his mouth. "I just keep fighting till they tell me to stop or I pass out. Win or loss calls ain't up to me."[break][break]

Tempest flops down next to the other with a grunt. He sighs and kicks out his feet.[break][break]

"SPECTRA's good. I might still call in favors for missions. Maybe more than usual, since we'll be playing big dog during fights."

"Fight 'til they tell ya t'stop..." A notion which has him chewing thoughtfully on his lamb. Fighting like that will drown them in blood. Folk on both sides who don't deserve to die will fight like that. It'll be a good fight, but the dog comes time and time again to a certain scene: their own Yumis, the people they promised with earnest sincerity that they would come home. Every stroke of his blade is a broken promise. They know the score, and he'll do his duty. Avatars in particular, he feels deserve no mercy.[break]
Given his deep respect for the brown haired man's husband, the dog shows the good sense of keeping that thought to himself.[break]
"Guess that's one way ta do it. I'm all yours if ya need a guy for a strike force. That said, think I'm bein' deployed on the offensive." Amber eyes glance at his fellow in his periphery. "The one the grunts don't know shit about, I promise." His smile tells the lie for what it is.

Much like Hitoshi Inoue, Tempest only feels a blooming joy in his chest when he thinks of Cillian Quinn's anger. That his husband would care so much for him makes him feel good. Granted, Temp doesn't want to cause the other the pain of losing him... but would he show up to the Border and demand his soul back? Like the legends of old?[break][break]

It made the heart flutter.[break][break]

"Eh, they ain't gods. Keep talkin' like that and you'll end up in the cults that follow 'em." It didn't matter how much power that any Avatar thought they had- they were still flesh and blood mortals at the end of the day. So were the pokemon who gave them power. Gods didn't bleed.
