The dog does not rightly know what they do with it all. Much of it, he assumes, is sold to the highest bidder on the black market. That’s Rocket’s M/O, after all. [break]
“A royale with cheese. Who the hell calls a quarter pounder somethin’ like that? Just call it what it is, the okayest burger you’ll ever eat in your life. Now I tell ya, Galar food? No offense to yer hubby, they don’t know the first thing ‘bout makin’ good food. Hoenn food? Johto? Paldean good? Now that’s good eatin’.”

You may encounter a paranoid Pierce Creighton, one of Hoenn's Scientists, exploring the caves too. Should you approach him, he does not let you come close. The keenest eye may scry blood splatter on his shoes. Despite his haggard appearance, he bestows supplies should you require them. Otherwise, encounter poor bystanders trapped here, like backpackers or even a feral Megalopolan.[break][break]

They pass some unfortunate victim who is half-fused with the wall, definitely with the dyna ore below them. They're walking dead. What the dog does for this poor unfortunate, with the edge of his blade, is a mercy. Their life ends with something approaching dignity.[break]
"But pretty much everything that feels good takes a toll on ya. Booze? Better get check ups for yer liver. Gambling? Oh that can go real south real quick. Broads? Ain't got time for that business." He's seen too many men get the wool pulled over their eyes by the women who worked in the Hasegawa's pleasure houses. Some of his fellow dogs tried to get him to come along, but it never interested him. There's only ever been one woman for him, and the love language of Hitoshi Inoue for Yumi Hasegawa is painted in the blood of her enemies.[break]

"Just a matter of opinion. For a long time, I thought I only had my face and body going for me. So, I wanted to take care of them. Now it's just habit." Tempest could remember the days of standing in the grocery store, facing the boxes of pasta. Two in hand- one a lot better for him, the other a lot cheaper. Poverty had him crunching different numbers than self-esteem did. Taking either one would riddle him with guilt.[break][break]

He can buy whatever pasta he wanted now. Whatever anything he wanted. The sticky kind of guilt was a still so familiar, though. Tempest thought it would be a long, long time before it fully left him.[break][break]

"We take turns. I cook a 'lil more than him since he's busier. I cooked more before the promotion, though. What about you? You volunteering to cook a three-way dinner date?"

And/or encounter a DYNAMAXED/GIGANTAMAXED POKEMON WITH A DYNAMAX SHIELD that must be downed. Regardless, the Pokemon will perish after its transformation. Investigating its carcass will reveal that it has somehow incorporated Dynite Ore onto its body. Though it is no Regi-titan, one may make macabre parallels.[break][break]

The tall man’s words rouse a blush from the dog. Scratching the back of his neck, he fidgets like a child might when offered a toy. A soft whistle keeps Kusanagi cutting at the ore, putting a steady supply of the stuff into their container. It’s a meaningless task, especially for the two of them.[break][break]
His mind concerns itself more with what his friend says. It sounds like a simple thing, simply sharing a meal with people. Before Rocket, he had never broken bread with anyone besides Yumi. On such occasions, he had always felt like the odd dog out, a creature stuck in the auxiliary of her life except when it was just the two of them. He feels seen, and he kicks at a rock along the ground.[break][break]

Tempest takes a moment to think about that answer. He decides it is sad. Yet, Tempest is also very aware he is of the rare few in Rocket with a positive relationship with his family. Before his mom and sister died, he had many happy meals with them all. His father never blamed him or threw him down in his own grief. They still meet up every two weeks or so and catch up. Tulio is, all things considered, a good dad.[break][break]

There isn't any pity that shows on Temp's face when he claps Hitoshi Inoue on the back, however.[break][break]

Just a broad grin, as if what Hitoshi had said was the most normal thing in the world.[break][break]

They’ve reached the end, and they’ve gathered their ore. A few chunks are spread to keep wild Pokemon off their backs, but they still come away with a good haul. There will be a nice paycheck waiting for them, enough to get themselves some quality ingredients.[break][break]
“Ain’t gonna lie to you, I’m starvin’.” His hunger is for more than just food. There is more to breaking bread with another at a dinner table than the physical act of consumption. It is bare intimacy – not the sort lovers have, but fellowship, bonds, humanity. Dogs tear at scraps with no formality. They are not fit for the dinner table.
