Hundreds of millions of years ago, there was a small fellow that sat inside of a shell in the ocean. Hundreds of millions of years later, that same small fellow had been revived with the sole purpose of being thrown into a daycare by its trainer.

Unfortunately, this Omanyte's trainer was thoroughly lame, got bullied by his Ursaluna, and spent too much money on paintings to pay attention to one of the many fossils within his menagerie. It had died, revived, and been neglected. Now?

IT WAS PISSED.

It wormed its way towards the Houndour with utter contempt in its soulless eyes.

The dog cocks its head when it sees the ancient Pokemon crawling its way towards him. Its tongue lolls from its mouth dumbly, uncomprehending of what's happening, or what is to come. Only when it continues its glacial approach towards him does he realize what's going on. To the dog, it's all some game.[break]
Speed is a thing taken for granted. Speed makes all the difference. Speed turns murderous intent into a child's playful little game. The dog jumps, lopes, runs whole circles around the Omanyte. To Houndour, it's all a simple game. He barks, yapping with his wagging tail signalling his enjoyment of the game.[break]
Little does he know how that might be received by his primordial ancestor. Houndour leaps atop his shell, looking down at the creature with a child's wide eyes.

Speed is what allows predators to remain apexes. Strength is what allows them to crush lesser beings in their jaws and with their limbs, allowing them to feast. Primal instincts curdle and twist and roar within the Omanyte's DNA, within its mind.

This dog is mocking it.

It must suffer for this crime.

Cracks begin to line the creature's shell, and light begins to emerge from it as its rage builds. This dog's days are numbered, much like its owner.

Its anger is lost on Houndour, who cocks his head as if nothing in the world is wrong. Jumping down, landing before the great fossil, its shell cracking and threatening to explode with tremendous force, he simply stares forward. Houndour is but a dog, not made to understand the intricacies of evolution. He asks but one question.[break]
"Bark?"

A THOUSAND YEARS OF SUFFERING UNTO THIS DOGGY. ITS CRIMES ARE TOO NUMEROUS TO COUNT WITHIN THIS ANTHROPIC TIMELINE.

It will suffer for these crimes. It will rage across the cosmos and heavens. Heaven will crack and bend under this Houndour's arrogance. The shell continues to crack and bend, before bursting off in a glow of light, basking the Houndour in the wonderful energies born of evolution.

Now, it will suffer the Omanyte's wrath.

Its anger makes the dog shirk, recoil. Old instincts, buried deep, well up. If he wishes to survive, he must fight back. Power gathers around him as well, a miracle of Pokemonkind beginning to be made manifest. His options are to fight or to flee. When all the cold fury of a dead star is pressed upon him, what's a dog to do?[break]
"BARK!"

It has ascended beyond its original form. This transformation has been millions of years in the making. The earth has been broken and shattered and rebuilt anew in the time that it took for this single organism to reach the apex of its existence.

Evolution.

Magical.

Its transformation will be great but it will cost it much. Its mind. Its soul. Its very sense of self. Omanyte is no more. In its place is something far more powerful.

The dog bears witness to the apex of the world.

His own blood beckons him. Something within calls. His shape twists. Evolution is preceded by a howl of pain. Dark fires tear him down, reform him, remake him in the image of some terrible hound. When at last he is free, he stands taller. Saliva drools to the ground, sizzling and killing plant life wherever it falls. The hound stands ready to attack, stepping forward on powerful, poised legs.[break]
And then...[break]
"Oi, Rookie, check this shit out! Our Pokemon evolved!" The hound is recalled in a flash of red light, back to his pokeball. It shudders, shakes, and falls silent.[break]
"This daycare's legit."

"I'm telling you, this daycare is insane. I couldn't get my Pokemon to evolve for years. One stay in this place and bam! Evolution." Howard frowned and scratched his cheek. "Might've helped if I actually trained them, admittedly."

The Omastar disappeared in a flash of red light. Its Pokeball was clipped to the admin's belt as he yawned.

"Let's go get tacos."
