Rumors crowded the space between these detested lines, brewing a perfect storm of confusion concerning whose influence and rule they were under. While the conspiring factions, known and unknown fueled their engines of war, Petra was no more innocent.

Normally, it was Gunner Graves, paxton concordas and the other members of HBIC who did these house check-ins. Most Rangers tended to go to Ollie's office directly, when it came to reports such as these.

Once inside, Petra could be seen scrutinizing the news of the day. Not through phone, but by the archaic way of reading today's paper. Gesturing towards the tea and more fashioned upon the table, she hoped Ollie would welcome himself to them, saving her from the extra calories.

"What brings you to my corner of Verdanturf?" While aware of the regular check-ups, recent events would have her believe they didn't have time to spare for a case as trivial as her's. But maybe this was about some of her latest exploits, which took place far outside Petra's rangerly duties—those tying her ~~down~~ to the amnesty program.

Even without their trust, she still had some part to play. Preparing for war, despite any policies that might get in the way. Their League couldn't afford to let go of anymore strongholds, or lose support from anymore of the citizenry.

Folding it up as a means to delay, many recent events cross her mind. Considerations for all the pretty ways she could spin potential truths in order to protect herself—The life she was finally beginning to enjoy, and covet.

"Things are going alright, but I've been better." Laying the newspaper down onto the table, the headlines made evident all the worries people of Hoenn currently had on their plate. Petra had a few more, including whatever could be hidden beneath the warmth Ollie conveyed. "It's hard not to worry when you're squeezed from both sides."

A prescription bottle is lifted from her pocket and shaken, a gesture to imply she's been properly medicated in order to cope with growing anxieties. "Been trying to occupy myself with some... projects." The slight hesitation is a dead giveaway, and she realizes as much.

Choking on the silence, Petra reaches for her glass of tea and downs a considerable gulp before returning to the topic at hand. "But it's nice to have a visitor for once." The hand returning her glass to the table is just as quick to fill it's place with a shortbread cookie. "Especially one with good intentions."

Taking a bite and chewing for the moment, Petra finally returns with a question of her own. "What about you? Smooth sailing?"
