"Huh?" [break][break]

Aqua felt the two trash bags they had been carrying this whole time levitate off the ground. Their eyes went over to check on each one, only to discover that each one had been lifted by a Pokemon, a Lucario and a Kommo-o respectively. Wonder filled the young Rocket's eyes at the shiny coat of the Lucario, having always found such oddly colored Pokemon rather unique. "Oh. Hi." Their hands slowly let go of the trash bags to allow them to do as they wished. The voice of the other person nearby had caused them to raise their head with a smile. Had they finally met a kindred spirit? [break][break]

"Hey!" Aqua said in their usual height pitched, whiny voice. "Thanks for-" [break][break]

They stopped at the sight before them. A well dressed man standing in attire that looked as if he was more at home at a vacation resort than picking trash off of the beach. Aqua's eyes traveled down to the open alolan shirt, their brain just freezing for a moment. Muscle and a nice tan, features a guy would have, something that Aqua lacked. They watched as a pang of envy hit their ocean loving heart, though managed to tear their gaze off of him long enough for the thought to cross inside of their soft head. They knew this man! [break][break]

"T-Tempest? Sir, I didn't..." Aqua began but then faltered. Not the right time or place to use titles. Stupid Rocket rules. [break][break]

At his question, Aqua shook their head and nodded. "Not at all. I usually come here when not deployed to clean up the trash. It's just because of the resort nearby." Speak of the devil! A soft, muffled cry from nearby caught the grunt's ears. Aqua spun around and searched quickly around before stumbling across what had caused the noise. A Marill was stuck inside of a tin that looked way too large for it. The aquatic mouse bobbed across the shoreline until Aqua picked it up and brought it back to Tempest while they spoke. "Case in point." They growled and slid their fingers into the tin while remaining careful not to harm the poor Pokemon. With proper elevation and a grip, the Marill was able to come undone. [break][break]

The water-type chirped at being freed, smiling up at Aqua as they couldn't help but chuckle to themselves. "That must be better, huh?" It cried out again, the zig-zaggy tail bouncing as fast as it could go. Aqua blinked at the request. "You...want to stick around?" The Marill nodded, only to be raised onto Aqua's neck, taking refuge in his hoodie. The Marill nestled in just as Aqua looked backward at their new friend. "Welcome to the team then, Marill~" [break][break]

"Ah-Abs. I m-mean, Yes, sorry! You just reminded me of somebody I know." Aqua spouted off a moment after Tempest had given them the go ahead to speak to them without the title and honorifics from his position in Rocket. To him, Aqua must have seemed like some kind floundering Magikarp out in the wild like this. They did manage to calm down enough so that they could speak without jumping to titles and information that likely could land them in prison, or far worse. "It's nice to meet you in person." [break][break]

The Marill in Aqua's hoodie let out a cheerful cry at riding pillion in the younger male's hoodie. Aqua smirked, reaching back to rub at its head some before getting back to work by cleaning up as much trash as they could now that their two trash bags were being handled by somebody else. Their Pokemon continued to frolic in the waters close by, with the Lapras watching over the Sneasler currently trying to swim. "I'm Aqua, one of the new people at work. It's kind of hard to miss me, given...obvious reasons." They said, flashing a knowing nod to Tempest before slowly extending his arm out to Tempest. The Squirtle running by did come to deposit another fallen soda can into the bag with a prideful pump of its chest before spinning in its shell to dig into the sand for another piece of trash. [break][break]

"It's nice to see another person out here, though. Everyone I've met in this place seems to care about as much for Pokemon habitats as they do to a grocery store." The grunt said with as much defeated vitriol as one could muster. The Tadbulb had grown bored of playing around with the Wooper. It bounced over to the Maril on Aqua's person and investigated the smaller blue Pokemon. The two continued to ponder the form of each other, until the Maril announced their interest and reached up to try and balance the Tadbulb on its head. "At least back home, most people seemed to care more than they let on. Besides the tourists." [break][break]

The last part Aqua put heavy emphasis on, clenching their teeth in annoyance. [break][break]

"Really? I was thinking about doing a few more missions in the future. I work mainly with the aquatics division and underwater expeditions, but anything to shake things up would be nice." Aqua was a little surprised that a superior would be so chilled out, especially so given his position with Rocket. "But I was also looking to train a little as well. I want to make myself useful." The most overused sayings in the business, no doubt, but if they were going to stay here, then Aqua at least needed some kind of way to keep their head on their shoulders given what other bosses they had met so far. [break][break]

The clean up duty continued, with Aqua's eyes going across the way to see a Poliwhirl attempting to clear the way of trash leading into the water where a stranding Poliwag would be stuck at. The grunt walked over beside the Poliwhirl and let out a sharp whistle. The Lapras so far out craned its neck over to where its owner would lay. "Brime, help us out here!" The Lapras sailed up to the stranded Poliwag and gently picked it up with its mouth before setting it onto its back, then diving underwater. [break][break]

Aqua worked with the Poliwrath and began to toss out trash left and right, spreading the filth wide enough so that the Poliwag could be able to resurface safely. Once a hole was created that was large enough, the blue tadpole hopped out of the water and was reunited with its kin. The two appeared chipper and began to hurry off, alongside the Squirtle carrying a worn boot to put inside of the trash bag. [break][break]

"Anyway, you must be super busy all the time. What do you usually do all day anyway?" [break][break]

It was pretty rare to find a fellow ocean dweller in Rocket, all things considered. So Aqua made it a point to keep an eye out for Tempest's name in the records of various missions and more. It was always a good idea to make themselves known in the world, and hopefully not remaining too far behind what their superiors considered “underperforming.” So they gave a warm smirk and felt the sand settle underneath their toes as the sun above warmed up the area around them. [break][break]

"Yeah, that's pretty important sounding." Aqua said while collecting another bundle of trash and depositing it into one of the bags from afar. The Maril resting in their jacket continued to rock in the crevice of the hoodie, popping up as it would point to a strange purple arm sticking up from a pile of trash. The grunt looked on to see it and moved over to quickly clear itself of trash. "But the studies and more sound pretty cool. I've been looking to branch out to other places, just sticking with what I know. But if you ever needed help, I'd love to-"[break][break]

Once enough trash had been cleared from the pile, the small mountain flung its contents everywhere nearby. Cans, bags, even some rather fragile looking items strung across the beach until a rather angry Starmie sat before them. It let out a miffed cry and spun at Aqua, aiming for their head. They ducked under the attack and rolled backwards just in time to order a command. "Ice Beam!" The Lapras raised its head from afar, shooting out a beam of ice at the upset Starmie. It was hit from the side, damaging it and freezing it solid in ice. Aqua took a moment to quickly tap a pokeball across its body and capture it inside of the pokeball.[break][break]

"Anyway, I would love to make myself more useful. Somebody important told me that I could talk to some scientists and see if they have any work. Blonde hair, glasses, scary when upset." [break][break]
