The Visionary was once a nobody. A pink-haired speck of dust in the sandstorm of Hoenn's citizenry, plagued by nothing more than social anxiety and getting good grades in her university classes. Lonely, quiet, clever: but not special. Not important.[break][break]
Now, she is the sort of woman who teleports without hesitation into the high office of the Rocket Boss, haloed in a vibrant crystalline blue energy, directly following a quorum responsible for elevating Zev Harcourt to God General and officially deploying Kanto forces onto Hoenn soil. All because the Unown had deemed her worthy of their allegiance. Of their power.[break][break]
They, too, are not legendary. But they are the building blocks of all creation, and as is often the case, it pays to be underestimated. So it is that Naomi Sato does not fear declan walsh as she might once have.[break][break]
War is imminent, but it is not the right war. Rocket, League - they see only their own minute, short-term goals, driven by grudges and mortal impatience. So she will do what all prophets must do. Are destined to do.[break][break]
She speaks.[break][break]

His gaze is intense, but she has prepared for it. Her closeness with Lulu Flint has paid off in more than just sisterly affection; Nomi is familiar with the machinations of Darkrai, the way the shadows will feel as if they are closing in around her - attempting to drain the life from her limbs.[break][break]
"Kanto's army. Kanto's funding. Kanto's technology," she answers automatically. "Monroe and his troops could be put to use rooting out the Triad, but instead we throw all of them into a - " she holds her tongue, chokes back the word pointless " - war with the League."[break][break]
She knows that she walks a dangerous knife-edge. She knows that respect is warranted. Self-preserving. She has made a promise to parker jones not to die needlessly.[break][break]
And still, she risks asking the one thing that might matter more than anything else - that she finally has an opportunity to draw forth from the obfuscator.[break][break]
"I understand how advantageous it will be for us to claim more Hoenn territory, I do," she insists. "But it's a short-sighted victory, if the entire region gets destroyed soon after." She pauses. "If I may be so bold, sir...do you not see the DRK Triad as Hoenn's greatest threat? And if not...why not?"

He's impossible to read, the way his expression remains stoic, a block of ice amidst an already frigid sea.[break][break]
"Kanto has scientists," she answers, trying not to picture the mangled remains of her parents. "Combining forces could expedite our attempts at interdimensional travel. Then we can be the ones infiltrating the Triad, and not the other way around."[break][break]
They've been on the defensive for far too long. She can no longer stomach the unpredictability of her enemies, the ways they seem to pop up in every imaginable corner of Hoenn - including the virtual.[break][break]
"Kanto also has an army. The extra bodies alone will matter, should the Triad unleash some new horror onto our world."[break][break]
Something akin to Kyurem, perhaps. That had nearly been their collective doom.[break][break]
"If you recognize the threat, what would you have us do? Fighting with the League might further our goals, but it does not keep us safe from an impending apocalypse."

She knows she does not control this man; he will do as he pleases. Such is his privilege, earned through his station.[break][break]
"I'm asking you to care about this - about the threat of the DRK Triad." Darkness has never frightened her, but she's wise enough to temper her own hubris. "You're right, I am not a general. Nor am I a solider." Her expressions hardens. "But the Unown are invaluable to Rocket. Every war effort needs intelligence. My eyes are everywhere: I have embedded them directly into the League."[break][break]
Fraternizing with the enemy is a treasonous offense within Rocket - unless the pros outweigh the cons.[break][break]
"If we cannot spare the Kanto resources, or even our own, then at the very least - allow me the grace to work autonomously on this issue."[break][break]

"Afford me the amnesty necessary to recruit the League's resources to my cause. In return, Rocket will receive any and all secrets I learn about their leaders and Avatars."

She does not doubt for a single second that declan walsh's threats are not as real as the air she breathes; not as inevitable as the rising of the sun. She understands exactly what it means to thread this particular needle, to toe the line between his respect and his wrath. She wants to live in a world where he cannot hurt her, but she has to make that world.[break][break]
And so, her death would be a waste, were it to happen here and now. In one month or two. In a year or more. There is so much work to do. So she nods in deference, and she means it.[break][break]
"I understand," she answers. It chills - but does not surprise - her, to consider the other means a man like him might have to spy on her, if not the Unown. It feels, in that moment, like a sudden clash of wills. There is something hidden, even to her many eyes.[break][break]
"I will work within the bounds of my station," she assures him. "I do not think you will be disappointed in what I am capable of learning."
