what razz forgets to account for is that all the time and effort they've spent training and preparing is mirrored by theo's own. he has yet to stagnate, despite his age, but there is no denying the stiffness of his movements.[break][break]

the only way to compensate for that is with additional tools like his sygna suit. it gives him enough of an edge to face the dark pulse instead of shying away from it.[break][break]

in return, his disarming voice splits the attack in two, sending the nightmarish attack slamming into the ground beside him.[break][break]

Despite their fight and the hits he's taken so far Razz still feels like he can keep going strong. His tolerance of pain high as it was thanks to his past, so even when Theo counters his SHADOW BALL he is good to keep going. "I am far from reaching my limit," Razz growls back, "But what of you old man, losing your touch? Because you used to have me down by now"[break][break]

Razz counters back before he goes forward to attack the other, the younger man trying to punch and slash at the man with his baton with a series of blows that were not unlike the clash between the Chesnaught and Nidoking. And while yes, the base of Razz's technique was clearly Theo's he has long since built on that. Training with the Rangers, and even with one on one with noah faber a his gym, sparing with skyler dross while she was still in hoenn. Now all he could hope was that the style he had developed was enough to give him even the slightest edge over his teacher as behind them Sage deals his final blow on the Nidoking before falling himself. Was it mercy or a lingering favoritism that he was sure even the blind could see from their past? [break][break]

Either way in their blows with each other Razz can't allow himself to think about it. As it would allow doubt to crawl in and with this fight he couldn't afford it. Not with their skill difference in where it felt like his youth was the only real advantage he had over the man. Though in the end he can't fight the surf as the water crashes into him and knocks him back. He takes a moment to empty his lungs of the water that made their way in before he would attempt to get up again but stops when the other brings out the LIGHT STONE. [break][break]

His breath was heavy as he looks at the object, and with it now it view there is a familiar feeling that overwhelms him. One that he hasn't felt since it was ripped away months ago by the ice dragon, Kyurem. It almost felt like Reshiram was there with him again and yet at the same time its different. He doesn't know if its from the broken bond, from the fact that they were now within the orb, or Rocket had done something, "What have you done to them?" he can't help but question. [break][break]

He knows they've been in Rocket custody thanks to Greyson Connors, but he doesn't know anything past that, and with his mind runing a mile a minute it only finally gives pause at the single question: why did theo have it?; In his head only two answers made any sense: [break][break]

1. Rocket had chosen Theo to try and become Reshiram's new avatar.[break]
or 2. Theo expected to fight him and brought this orb on purpose. [break][break]

Both answers made him worry, "Why do you have it?" he questions but the orb had done it's job. As it has fully stopped him in his tracks from trying to take the underboss down.

Admittedly he had been lying, lying for a long time. About the delay he intended to keep, about his feelings toward his old teacher, about who he is. Reshiram would probably feel shame in him but he had been terrified for so long it couldn't be helped. [Break][break]

And he's so tired of being fraidy cat Raziel. [Break][break]

"I'm the liar!? I've done so much with this badge Theo, I get to help pokemon rather than hurt them, I even help people be it from natural disasters or from people like you. It was you who told me that Rocket did what it did because it was greedy.[break][break]

So how the hell is it that I'm the liar with this badge when the flag you're under is drenched with much more blood?"

Raziel spits back annoyed by the other as the man continues to hurt him. [Break][break]

"Did you ever need me? Did you ever want me?" he finally decides to question, as much as he wanted to protect Reshiram and bring them back safe he needs this answer from Theo. "Once before you used to mean so much to me, when I was 'Ashton' you said you saw me as family yet ever since you've revealed me all you've done is put me down be it my choices or my job, yet when you had the chance to kill me you didn't [break][break]

Am I really just this favor for you to redeem?" he questions, he knows this probably isn't the best time to ask as those below them were fighting for their lives and this region. Yet here he was about to let the one of the Underbosses go when for the first time in his life he had him in the ropes. All when a stone was presented to him and Raziel knows he must buckle. So if he can't capture him, and he refuses to simply walk away easily he is going to go the selfish route and try and figure out just what the he meant to his mentor.

Why does it feel like an insult now that the other had called him by the name he has been going by for years? Guilt can't help but drill it's way in as the other goes on about becoming the disappointment he had become. He could try to justify it, he was only a kid back then and had been forced on his own due to his dad and since then been living in fear being forced into a world he didn't understand. [break][break]

But that wouldn't help his case here would it? [break][break]

Not when Theo was throwing in his face a conversation he and Reshiram had since the beginning of their partnership. "The loss was sudden, and I assume it was because the Drk Triad had gotten to it, Kyruem had gotten them," he answers honestly which was the reason why he had been going to the Ultra Plant with ever blackwell to see on if there was a way to help Reshiram within the stone Theo held now. Yet maybe there was more to it that had lead to his ever growing abandonment issues. "If you're trying to pin point about my lies of identity as a reason sure you might be right about that but I am trying to correct that but I speak no lies when it comes to Rocket. I can accept you've changed, and I even accept that this Rocket might actually be different than Kanto's," there is a sad chuckle that escapes him as he thinks about it, "Hell had I grown up with this Rocket I might have never left" he admits and it hurts because his time as Ashton had made him realize just how much he had missed interacting with Theo, and jayden cross, and even Cillian Quinn. "But while you talk about embracing truth I think we both know you're lying to yourself if you think Rocket is trying to bring some era of peace, they're the ones that took your brother from you right? Your family?" Razz questions as he vaguely remembers the small details the older man once told him when he told him as a kid he reminded the man of his brother before Razz points toward Mossdeep and the battlefield it has become, "Is this the Rocket that is going to bring peace? The young man just growls in frustration as he continues the 'weak' narrative. It wasn't completely untrue seeing how he wasn't strong enough to be there for Reshiram in their time of need, but having the old man continuously throw his old and current weakness in his face as if he were the same as before. "I'm not the one that needed to resort to blackmail and manipulation to win this fight," counters before the other blames himself for what had happened to his family. [break][break]

Raziel would've said something but Salem seemed to have abandoned his battle with the other's Milotic as he seems to be pointing south and is going on about something. The psychic cat seeming to sense as if something were about to happen but they're too frantic for the Ranger to understand. [break][break]

At least until the explosion goes off. [break][break]

The resulting shockwave even seeming enough to blow away the rain clouds and Salem makes sure to use PSYCHIC to force both trainers down to properly brace themselves. The feline making sure that the wave wouldn't knock either trainer off the cliff they have been fighting on. Normally Salem wouldn't care on what happened to the Underboss, but he can tell there there is still come care his trainer holds for the Rocket so they make the conscious effort to protect him too. Razz keeping his ears covered for a moment as he looks toward the direction of the explosion, knowing full well that something bad must be going in the city of his former home. "Was that Kyogre?" he can't help but question having heard that something had been going on with the sea bison but he wasn't fully in the loop as he choose to volunteer himself and the Slateport rangers in Mossdeep.[break][break]

Because blackmail was mercy... Though he knows the Underboss has done much worse and the fact that he doesn't always makes him question the other's intentions. [break][break]

A thought he doesn't get to voice due to the explosion, once its over he thinks for a moment that maybe he could relax as from their position he could tell that several Rockets were retreating toward the Rocket Controlled city. Theo most likely to join them soon which at least meant this city was safe. [break][break]

Least until the order came and his one eye widen in shock, "You can't be serious! Whatever happened to your whole 'you are weak' crap?" he questioned through gritted teeth, why would the other demand him to go if not to aide with the situation. Or perhaps Theo just wanted a hostage which was an even worse situation than the first. At first he has no intentions of agreeing, especially when the transmission from Gwyar Wledig comes in on his comms. [break]

For a moment Razz knows he can't give the other access to the group communication. Yet the moment the Reshiramn card was pulled the young man pauses. Red eye focusing on the Light Stone in the other's hand and he is conflicted. ollie morales's warning running through his head about how he shouldn't be doing things alone, and yet here he was alone fighting the Underboss. And now alone in this decision of following the Gym Leader's orders or go along with Theo for the chance of getting the stone from him. Clear his debt to both the Dragon and his Mentor. [break][break]

His grip on Salem can't help but tighten both in frustration and fear as he knows he has only himself to blame for getting himself in this position, and he is scared for what Theo might ask of him while with him. Salem mummers something as if to comfort his trainer, seeming to promise to be behind him no matter the choice. Not that it felt like much of one when the guilt of being unable to be there for Reshiram when the dragon needed him when the dragon had helped him overcome his own paralyzing fears. [break][break]

Raziel doesn't need them back... he just needs them safe...[break][break]

"I will not be hurting any of my comrades got that?" Raziel scowls at the other, frustration of this situation clear before he takes a deep breath and sighs as he submits to the other no differently as he used to as a child, submitting to his superior's orders as he had been conditioned to do. "Otherwise fine, for Reshiram's sake, I'll help with whatever is going on but after our deal is done."[break][break]

Cause at least in his mind this was Theo cashing in his check.

what sounds over the intercomms is a grave reminder that no one has enough power to strongarm a fight from a loss to a win. theo, for all his years of experience, can do no more than accept this fact.[break][break]
