TFW PRELUDE: PETALBURG SCENARIO B-5
POSTED ON Aug 4, 2024 16:26:16 GMT
TFW PRELUDE
His heart stopped. Buried beneath rock and stone, his heart seized up with a singular, booming beat, and the earth trembled in the deafening silence that followed.
Then the mound of boulders shifted. Slowly.
Slowly.
Before it suddenly exploded, sending boulders hurtling all about the forest as a countless dots of glimmering pink flooded the burning prairie.
They embedded themselves unto everything. Trees, stones, earth, rockets, all the pokemon... And perhaps even dorian westcliff, if he didn't react in time.
As the upheaved boulders descended back unto earth, kicking large clouds of dust upon heavy landing, the colonel's hazy silhouette stood where he had been crushed before, unmoving.
Despite his seeming inaction, things began to change around him.
Trees that hadn't yet been wholly destroyed began to recover, cracked bark and consumed leaves growing back faster than the flames could consume them. Plant life began to regrow where it could, grass and weeds seeming to reverse course on the flames, consuming them back.
The soldier's pokemon's began to recover from their wounds. Though the Spidops had collapsed and fainted, its carapace was sealing together, its life blood seizing its escape. The Araquanid's strength returned swiftly, the confusion passing in a snap as its gaze refocused on its opponents.
The enemy, however—
Their bodies bloated. Unnatural growths, fit to burst, bulged alongside musculature and limbs, weighing them down and impeding movement, growing more and more, zapping away rapidly at any vitality within.
From within the dust cloud, the lieutenant's silhouette shifted, moving subtly.
His eyes glowed through the dust as it cleared, glimmering orbs of cyan and magenta in place of formerly dark eyes.
Doug stared at the man that had began it all, that had caused everything to go to shit.
And his shoulders trembled. His lips pursed. His cheeks filled with air as his chest jerked.
"Pfft-uguh... muh..."
A snort. A snicker. A low, barely held in exhale.
"Fuh... huh... huhuhu...!"
Quaking shoulders, a broad, ear to ear smile. Pearly white teeth seemed to glimmer.
And finally, he threw back his head, hand over his face, his voice booming through the forest.
"Hahahahaha! Hahahahahahaha!"
And laughed, and laughed, and laughed.
