In preparation for the upcoming war, you and your team have been entrusted with the crucial task of fortifying Rocket’s defense—a complex network of tera tunnels interwoven with bunkers seized from Project Lockbox during Meteno. You must fortify the walls using steel beams and metals provided by Rocket’s own blacksmith, Aurelie Lefevre; or instead choose to install security cameras in the walls as determined by Rocket's intel team and Admin Bee (BARNABY FINCH). The tera cave begged for photos. When he found an opportunity for a shot that caught no one in it, they snapped a quick photo. Nature photography looked like a better and better career with each expedition they found themselves in, but they suspected these were photos that would never see the light of day. Still, the tera crystals were absolutely stunning. [break][break]

He turned to Hitoshi as their two tasks were laid in front of them. They could join the team doing security or the one doing reinforcements. Since they were paired and he had chosen their Wo-Chien training session, they lent the choice to Hitoshi. "What's your preference?"

Though his partner, New Kid, is willing to leave the choice in his hands, the higher ups are not. Someone realized, somewhere along the way, that the dog is quite capable when it comes to wires and methodical tasks like that. Before the question is finished being asked, some executive hands them both security cameras and the connective tissue binding them to the rest of the crystalline structures.[break][break]
“Ugh. Fuck me, man. Ya show someone yer good at somethin’ one damn time and now yer the camera guy.” He grumbles at his partner, the look of a crestfallen dog apparent on his face. “I’m tellin’ ya. If you realize you’ve got a hidden talent, make damn sure that it’s one ya like doin if other people find out ‘bout it.”[break][break]
He starts laying down the wire, careful to make sure everything is just right, lest they shock themselves.

Clover successfully fights a smile at the crestfallen expression on Hitoshi's face. They weren't sadistic or anything, but she could find humor in such a burden. Her parents liked to make her climb the tall, tall trees when the kids got balls stuck up there because she wasn't afraid of heights. But it calloused her hands like crazy and sometimes even left sap all over her clothes. [break][break]

"The burden of talent," they echoed sympathetically. At least the two of them were successful in the placement of cameras, and Clover even managed to avoid tangling the cords to the point of destruction, which was a huge win. The two of them get to test the camera placements by viewing it on the security hub screens. It doesn't take long for something to catch her eye, though. "What's that?" Movement on the camera, gone as soon as it appeared.

“Ain’t that the damn truth?” He grumbles while getting to work. It’s sweaty work, technical as it is, here in these tunnels. His shirt comes off, as it often does. On his back is a painted rendition of a Johtonian legend. Entei stands in all its glory, roaring and wreathed in flames. It is a creature born of good service, a guardian for a god.[break][break]
“You ever think ‘bout gettin’ ink done, New Kid? I know a guy in Johto who could help ya out.” A hint of sadism plays in his grin. Traditional ink like his is painful. Some see it is a rite of passage. He’s happy with the results, and that makes the pain worthwhile.[break][break]
The New Kid’s perceptive interest in the blip rouses curiosity from the dog. Putting his shirt back on with the work done, he looks at the blip and strokes his chin.[break][break]
“Huh…” He puts on his sword belt, on which is strapped his Pokemon. “Grab yer Pokeballs. We’re investigatin’.”

He beams at Hitoshi. "Only one tattoo," he confirms for himself, pulling his button-up off to show the Torterra lineage tattoo representing his Hoyeon bloodline. It sits between their shoulderblades, though not all of it can be seen because of their tank top. "I wouldn't mind going to Johto for something like that, though." Hitoshi's tattoo is gorgeous, though they can't imagine how many hours it took to complete. [break][break]

They sober as Hitoshi makes the call: they're going to investigate. She grabs her pokeballs and follows him to see... wait, she knows this one's name. Greyson Connors. "Surrender," She asks incredulously before she can stop herself, "in our own cave?" Seems kinda rude to go somewhere and tell the people there to give up. Sounded a whole lot like the colonization her people faced so long ago, though there hadn't been any asking. She sends out Archen who flies foward with a dragon claw.

Talk of tattoos is thrown away before Greyson Connors’s appearance. The dog’s lips are just a little too slow on the uptick. The beginnings of a smile appear on his face as he realizes that an Elite Four chairholder has walked right up to them on Rocket turf. Dogs understand their place in the world, its delicate ecosystem. Two on one, when faced with such a man, are still long odds.[break][break]
But five on one? Ten on one? Each with two Pokemon or more out? Suddenly, those odds seem much, much fairer in this dog’s estimation. It’s a solved math problem.[break][break]
Unfortunately, New Kid acts with the folly and anger of youth. Once, the dog would have followed them onto the attack. They would have fought together, died well together. Instead, he curses, and throws out two Pokemon of his own.[break][break]
One is a Ceruledge. The other is an Arcanine.[break][break]
“Arcanine. Set up sunshine. Jubei. Attack. Attack!” He has no time for a deeper order, as the Elite will not afford him more time.[break][break]
“Delarosa!” He screams into his comm. “Get Delarosa out here!”

It's the League's Elite Four leading this small group. There's no time to call for backup! [break][break]

Frantically, you summon your Pokémon in an attempt to fend off the intruders. However, you quickly realize you're severely outmatched, and it's only a matter of moments before you find yourself cornered by the Elite Four's excellent fighting skills. [break][break]

Luckily, before anything can get out of hand, Beast bryan delarosa intervenes, rescuing you from what could have been a bad outcome. Together, you manage to drive the League members out of the tunnel. Unfortunately, this means that you and the other grunts have to work on re-routing the tunnel system to prevent the League from gaining valuable intel. [break][break]

You're punished for your overconfidence and lapse in judgement, as well as a lifetime of getting mocked by bryan delarosa.

Shit. The League can hit like a force of nature. Clover burns through pokemon in the short time it takes to intercept Greyson and for Delarosa to pop out and assist. The League gets pushed back, but there's some damage to the security of the cave and Clover's only got their Archen holding on for dear life. It's humbling, as a nice way of putting things. [break][break]

"Sorry," Clover later apologizes, "I should've run for backup first." It was overzealous to take on someone famous for their strength, and the home court advantage had given just about nothing to them in terms of upper hand.
