The words left his mouth before he could stop them. They weren't even necessarily true. Jayden was Rocket's sword, a man who would do anything to preserve the organization, lest he be left out in the cold with nothing but Chien-Pao to warm his frozen form.

"Not yet. I'm not afraid of someone who fights for nothing." A lie mixed with the truth. When Jayden found his purpose beyond Rocket, Howard would fear someone who viewed themselves as virtuous. Until then, Jayden was just like Howard.

Another cog in the machine.

The man reeks of vice and shame. Instinctively, Howard wrinkled his nose at the odor. Instinctively, he trembled. His natural reaction to fight or flight was to run for the hills. He doubted that he would take two steps before his head was split from his shoulders.

That scared him. Not as much as it used to, though. Howard was used to the nature of swords from Galar.

"It's not an insult." Howard's eye didn't leave the dog. It stared, unblinking. "But fine. I'm sorry. It was rude of me to say."

A ball flew, somehow.

A kartana flicks down, picks up the amber, pockets it. In time, it will be revived into a mighty Pokemon. LeQuint Dickey will not have that one, but he does not focus on that. The Aerodactyl flatters by. Howard's eye follows it for a moment, thinking of Shirley. Yet he would not catch another Aerodactyl. One was enough, and Shirley was a jealous girl.

When was the last time that jayden cross had been visited by much of his family? When was the last time that asked him if he was doing okay? There was no family in Rocket. There was simply the illusion of family to mask the stench of a rigid command structure.

It was a lie.

That had been long ago, when freedom was fought for and only a handful of options existed for anyone. As the world modernized, the chains of confinement had twisted and morphed into something more transient. There were no samurai anymore, but there were ronin.

They were here now, catching Pokémon.

"It's not a bad purpose, helping others. It's just a shame." Watching Jayden crumble under the weight of hatred was a depressing thing to witness. The admin put a hand on his hip and looked out at a nearby Quaxly. "It's a shame that he ended up in Rocket."

His lip twitched.
