Roy wasn't the type to seek out pokemon in places like the Safari Zone. Most of his companions had come to him through trials or moments of undeniable power, compelling him to form bonds. However, a chance conversation at a local bar led him here, intrigued by the promise of some of the region’s best pokemon and a limited-time deal on tickets.

As he wandered through the zone, Roy found it lacking the mystique of the sacred shrines he was used to, like the Dragonfall Shrine in Meteor Falls. The wild beauty was present, but the atmosphere felt empty, missing the weight of history that usually drew him in. The tall trees and winding paths, though picturesque, didn’t stir him as he’d hoped.

Just as he considered leaving, the rustle of leaves ahead caught his attention. Roy’s hand tightened around a Safari Ball as he waited for the reveal.

Startled by the sudden appearance of the Gligar, Roy quickly recovered, a subtle smirk playing on his lips. In a flash of crimson light, his charizard materialized beside him, already poised for battle. Before Balmung could react, the Gligar lunged from the brush, but the charizard was faster, dispatching it with a swift strike of his tail.

"Nice work," Roy said, patting the base of Balmung's neck in approval. Leaning down, he pressed an empty poke ball against the fallen Gligar, capturing it with a flash of light and a metallic echo that lingered in the air.

Just as the Gligar was dealt with, a spinning Baltoy spiraled into view, conjuring bits of earth to retaliate against both Roy and his Charizard. Caught off guard while retrieving Gligar into its Poke Ball, Roy was vulnerable. Balmung swiftly intervened, using his wings to shield them from the attack. Being a Flying-type, the dragon took the hit without much trouble.

It was clear the Gligar and Baltoy were allies, possibly bonded over their similar typings. However, the Baltoy’s attempt at revenge was short-lived. Balmung struck back with a series of relentless fighting-type moves, taking down the Baltoy as quickly as the Gligar.

"Looks like we’ve got another one," Roy quipped, pressing another Poke Ball to the defeated Pokemon.

Leaving the ground-type duo behind, Roy ventured deeper into the Safari Zone, his attention drawn to a crystal-clear lake. Balmung followed closely, his gaze mirroring Roy's as they both examined the shimmering water. Roy squinted, trying to see past the sun's reflection dancing on the surface. Just as he was about to turn away, a sudden barrage of bubbles caught him off guard. Turning back, he spotted an oddly-colored horsea emerging from the water.

Balmung reacted instinctively, taking to the air with a fist crackling with lightning. He recklessly struck the water near the horsea as it dove below the surface, sending ripples across the lake. The Charizard continued his assault, turning the encounter into a dangerous game of whack-a-mole as the Horsea weaved in and out of the water.

Realizing the chase was getting out of hand, Roy quickly tossed a ball, hoping to end it before Balmung could land a decisive blow. He knew that if his Charizard caught the small water-type, it would be over in an instant.

As the duo left the lake, they were suddenly surprised by a new arrival. Like a falling star in the afternoon sky, a shiny Minior descended before them, spinning gently in the air as if suspended by an invisible thread.

Roy was briefly taken back by the rock-type’s sudden appearance, while Balmung, less startled, was visibly annoyed by the meteor-like pokemon. The dragon was still bothered by the previous pokemon.

"Let's leave this one alone," Roy said, placing a calming hand on his charizard before it could react. With that, they continued their search, eager to find a worthy candidate for their last Safari Ball.

The last pokemon emerged from the brush: a small insect with ferocious jaws; its green color blending seamlessly with the lush surroundings of the Safari Zone. It seemed out of place, as if it had been plucked from a desert and dropped into this forest. Roy’s mind wandered, imagining that the Safari Zone might have a desert or cave section hidden somewhere within.

The sight of the Trapinch stirred old memories. Roy’s mother had been close to Flygon, and by extension, so had he. Watching it stomp through the grass brought him back to his early days, and he knew he wanted to catch the oddly-colored pokemon.

"You don’t seem like you belong here," Roy murmured, crouching down to the Trapinch’s level. "Let me give you a better home."

He extended a hand holding a Safari Ball, while Balmung stood watch. The Trapinch hesitated for a moment before releasing its pride. Sprinting forward, the Trapinch contact with the sphere in Roy's hand. In a flicker of light, the final pokemon was captured.
