Roy was caught off guard by her suggestion of Rayquaza. He hadn’t even considered the ancient dragon as an option, but its ties to the Draconid ruins made it a solid lead, maybe even the best one yet. It certainly opened up new possibilities about his companion’s origins.

"You really think that could work?" Roy asked, his curiosity clear in his tone.

Her other suggestions barely registered with him. He’d heard of them, sure, but now his focus was entirely on Rayquaza and the answers it might hold.

now, more than ever, she has an excuse to catch up on her rest. in the days leading up to the war, she'd fallen back into old habits, allowing caffeine to buoy her in place of proper sleep. and now, as uncomfortable as the bed is, its lack of responsibility that it invites is nearly too much to resist.

but fueled at the prospect of possible discovery, her cousin's flame only grows brighter.

she shrugs aside the temptation to sleep and nods. "they're centuries old. they've seen the rise and fall of more civilizations than we can count. surely they know something. whether or not they'll communicate, or know how to, is a different story. after i'm discharged, and after aqua, we'll do it."

"I’ll hold you to that," Roy replied with a small grin.

As he stood from the chair, his dog rose alongside him, their movements almost synchronized. It was odd how they mirrored each other in subtle ways. Roy gave Freya a once-over, taking in the extent of her condition as he prepared to say his goodbyes. Zygarde panted softly, a bit of nervous energy showing through.

"In the meantime, you might want to get those horns checked out," he teased, trying to keep things light. "I can only imagine what your King has to say about them."

He never missed a chance to poke fun at KING WAYLAND.

"Take it easy," Roy added as he headed for the door, brushing past any assistants in his path. "I mean it."

"of course," she says, somewhat annoyedly, even in the face of his good-natured grin. stress ekes through, brought on by too many different types of frustrations (and for the sake of her sanity, growing bottles stuffed to the back of her mind with the promise of 'i'll get to them eventually').

the horns being one of those things in a bottle.

they haven't talked about king. pink smatters her cheeks and she tries to narrow her eyes and blow off the banter, but mostly she just ends up looking sheepish and meek.

"you ... okay," she mutters, but by the time she's managed the words, she's only talking to air.
