a dock nestled at the edge of mossdeep had become a place of suspicion. rumors of criminal activity. they were true, and despite the damage that had been done there by kyogre’s waves, traffic had practically tripled.[break][break]

the office on the dock was a mess, like much of the rest of hoenn following the war. ink bled through maps and charts, shipping manifests and bribery logs, even in their places of safe keeping.[break][break]

desmond paced around the room, wondering where to start. maybe it was best to just leave it for someone else and pretend he hadn’t seen it.[break][break]

”what would cyrus do…” perhaps shut down, he thought at first. then he sighed, realizing, ”cyrus wouldn’t have left homework at the office. shit.”[break][break]

the flood that kyogre brought to the eastern side of hoenn has left the league stretched thin. the rangers are everywhere — rebuilding, relocating, rediscovering their colleagues as they finally wash ashore. everywhere except where team rocket has begun to fester, like the dry-rotted docks and half-sunken coastal buildings.[break][break]annalise has come to rectify that. she walks along the dock, scrutinizing the faces of those that come and go. a single, ranger uniform-wearing girl is usually a good enough suggestion for petty criminals to not commit petty crime, but the inert sync stone at her chest is more of a demand for good behavior. she's unaccompanied by any pokemon, but six poke balls hang from her belt as an added deterrent.
