As he is want to do, he'd thrown himself into his work. If he stopped moving, if he stopped to CELEBRATE, or thought about it for longer than a second, he'd collapse. He'd disappear, slowly sinking into the drain of his apartment's bathtub faster than anybody could pull him out. He'd thought about it too. Thought about the rot. When he wasn't having a panic attack, pacing by his front door, and sobbing himself to sleep, he thought about slipping into his tub and sleeping there. not forever. Gods, no not forever. He could never do that to jayden cross and fern delaney . [break][break]

But for a while. Until he was numb. Until his broken pieces were ash. Until everything stopped being too much for his tiny brain. That's where the labor calm in. [break][break]

Busy hands, calm minds.

That's all he needed. Work. Work, and no thinking and purpose. And this was where he found it. His patron screeched from far away, leaving him to his devices as Neon glared at giant piles of rubble and lifted them into the air wordlessly. He watched, carefully looking through floating pieces for valuables or bodies to recover before carefully setting aside broken walls and wood and wires to make way of another team of Rockets to take over the plot. Kanto was pretty efficient at that. Had to be after how sudden and quick their takeover of Hoenn was. Not that he'd really talked to them other than Monroe and he was...well eh was cool. Maybe even cooler than declan walsh . OR well, their charm points were different. [break][break]

The little wings that decorate his body fluff up, showing the split second of embarrassment from Jayden before he smiled form behind his helmet. Mint shook his head, gravitating closer to the Admin despite the cold aura Chien Pao marked him with. Not that he'd ever considered Jayden a very warm person to begin with. Not unkind but simply, not like others he knew. Jayden wasn't sunshine incarnate but he wouldn't fault him for that. [break][break]

After all, he doubted he would've grown close with Jayden had he deemed him bubbly and outgoing. It was that quiet he stuck to that had made Mint want to help him in the past. Now, year later, he knew he didn't need much help at all. Jayden was far more capable than he was in most things. He believed that wholeheartedly. Mint's attention does catch the peek of a bandage but he would not address it. Not in public. He'd keep his hands to himself and worry and fuss later. [break][break]

He isn't any better, carrying his own hurt form Sootopolis. But he's quite adept at hiding that pain already. "I'm just helping reconstruction." he reported. "They'll be reusing the materials we collect for fortification and rebuilding. Once all the rubble is screened." he said

"It's slow going...considering all the crushing." he said, gesturing at a far off body collection point he could see grunts moving around. He moves left over chunks, sorting what he could with an idle flick of his fingers, and an occasional flap of a wing on his waist. [break][break]

He turned to Jayden as rubble slowly drifted down to the ground before electronic eyes flicker away and then back. "I-...You know, ok." he said trying to dodge the sudden question even if it was a natural turn of phrase in conversation. "I captured data, I was successful in my distraction mission." he paused, skirting around the all consuming, all to obvious grief that plagued him the days following Sootopolis. His lose, the ceasefire, the disappearances. It all muddles together even if his body wasn't as fucked as his peers. [break][break]

Mint's wings twitch and freeze when Jayden calls him out. He should be proud. After all, he'd wanted that kind of understanding from him. They'd had arguments about it- or well...Mint had yelled at him. He felt his lip tremble and his eyes itch. It's pure luck that he doesn't let out a sob before Jayden moves on to Winter instead. The follow up is expected, but almost made him crumple. He'd been prepared for this. "Just- Just my subordinate- and this Gym Leader form Lilycove, lam logan !" he reported trying to keep his voice steady. [break][break]

He felt himself tense up as Jayden grew introspective. And then when he finally spoke he drew further inward. "I- I don't-" he began to protest, confused at the warning. But then he digs into it further. [break][break]

"I- What do you mean?" What exactly was he talking about? Did he not...believe him? Did he think he'd made it all up mid fight? To cope? Due to stress? Was he doubting him? [break][break]

"I- I know what I heard." he added, voice a bit more firm. Hadn't others seen strange things too at Mossdeep? He couldn't have been the only one.
