Admittedly, Hideo didn't know much about Dynamaxes; they were big, they were tough, and you either needed a Mega Pokemon, a properly-timed Z-move, or a Dynamax of your own to match their strength. But the details beyond that, he was unfamiliar with.

"Then you better hope your shoe tastes good."

He'd stick with the Protect story for now. Not like the guy could disprove it.

But a Protect wasn't going to stop the next attack.

Hideo didn't know if his Mega Medicham could bear the full weight of a mountain. It very well could've - Megas were powerhouses unto their own, and his Medicham had a good amount of experience utilizing its Mega Form. And Uxie informed him his Medichan looked ready to face the foot.

But that was a gamble where success just meant holding off Regirock until the next attack - and failure meant a bloody stain where his Pokemon once stood.

He'd long-since vowed not to let any more of his Pokemon die. He wouldn't take any more stupid risks that put their lives at stake.

As the foot came down, Hideo's hand went arm - his Medicham's Pokeball in it. He tapped the button on the ball, recalling his surprised-looking Medicham. His Medicham was safe in its ball, and not spread between the dirt and the Regirock's foot - but that meant there was nothing left to actually intercept the Max Quake.

Hideo quickly tried to think about what other Pokemon he had on him to call out, but none could stop this kind of attack.

And yet, Uxie had an idea of its own; it would intercept the attack, coalescing Mystical Power into a beam of energy that fired forth at the Regirock.

Not the most subtle usage, but it was better than Hideo getting flattened or crushed by the Max Quake.
