Tempest isn't stupid, but why couldn't Cillian Quinn see? That he hadn't wanted to do what he did? That he hadn't wanted any of this?[break][break]

He's wise to keep his mouth full when Cillian responds, but it's empty when Cillian turns to leave.[break][break]

"You ripped my fucking THROAT OUT."[break][break]

Tempest tries to keep his voice even, knowing how much it bothers the other even in anger, but he can't keep the high pitched upturn as he chokes on what he says. The now-empty can is thrown into the sink loud enough to clatter, splattering sauce on the counter with the force of it.[break][break]

Even as he yells at his back, Tempest doesn't turn to follow the other. Gripping the counter white-knuckle hard, he pants as he tries to fight back the broiling anger burning in his veins. His vision is wobbly and he feels weak, like he might pass out or maybe throw up everything he had just eaten.[break][break]

But Tempest doesn't follow Cillian.[break][break]

Instead, when he feels steady enough to stand on his own, Tempest pries his fingers from the counter and makes his way to do just what Cillian had said: run his own shower (asshole). He strips as the water heats up, tossing his shredded and filthy clothes in the trash.[break][break]

He catches a glimpse of himself in the mirror.[break][break]

A pained noise leaves him. Tempest grabs a dirty towel and rushes to cover it.

It is a strange feeling, to be afraid of Temp.[break][break]

But though there is guilt following his husband's accusation, it is overwhelmed by the dread that grips him. He flinches at sound of the can hitting the sink, whirls around as if half-expecting Temp to attack him.[break][break]

He sees Temp white-knuckling the counter, back turned, and takes the opportunity to put distance between them. He wishes he could lock the balcony door from the outside for some illusion of safety. The shaking in his fingers is no longer from anger alone.[break][break]

As the cigarette burns down to its filter and the fear and anger fades in the absence of an aggressor, Cillian is left only with the guilt. He might've been frightened by the sharpness of his husband's voice, the anger there, but it was Cillian who was the dangerous one. He remembers, now, how confused and betrayed his husband had looked as the blood poured down his chest.[break][break]

Yet his last words would've been I love you.[break][break]

Cillian stares at his trembling hands and sees only the claws that had torn out his husband's throat.[break][break]

Monster.
