THE SKY PILLAR is an ancient, abandoned tower created by the Draconid for the veneration of Rayquaza. Discovering this dilapidated pillar was once notoriously difficult and exclusive to descendants of the original Sootopolitans and Draconid people, but dimensional disruption has exposed its location.

LESSER MEGALOPOLIS IS A RUINED CITY IN ULTRA SPACE. It is unclear whether this is a different universe's Ultra Megalopolis or smaller colony. Regardless, it is a dark city with intermittent sections of flickering, artificial light... Large, black prism-like skyscrapers loom above flat black streets. Much ruin has fallen here, but you get the sense that you're not alone...

02 use an ILLUMINA POKEMON to help light your way, or to distract/attract threats.

03 encounter hostile zombie-like MEGALOPOLANS that have been driven mad by the darkness. you may encounter any amount from a single one to a large swarm.

18 attempt to spend the "night", surviving the elements or any threats.

16 encounter pokemon who have been displaced here. some of these pokemon have been corrupted into SHADOW POKEMON who use NON-LEGENDARY SHADOW MOVES.

in the distance, she can make out the spire. its ruined shape is in a bastardized likeness to their own, bleached white against the gloomy horizon. prism structures that reflect light like oil spills stand between them and their destination.

she's read the reports. there are creatures that skulk within those shadowed alleyways.

"we fly. the darkness will be difficult, but between pescis and the noivern i've brought, i'm sure we can manage." as she's talking, she's checking the straps on pescis' saddle. he stretches his wings in anticipation of the flight ahead, chirruping softly with excitement.

"ready?"

Somehow, he always found his way back here. In the realms that bordered their own, Roy had become an explorer, much like his father before him. Memories of past journeys with Noel flitted through his mind and the crystalline debris they’d navigated together.

Now, Freya was at his side again, but this time, it was her quest that guided them through the fractured sky.

“Lead the way,” Roy called, steadying himself on Balmung’s back.

Freya’s Pescis took the lead, her flygon’s Illumina glow slicing through the darkness, a radiant beacon that made Balmung’s tail flame look like an ember in comparison. The light glinted off the crystal skyscrapers around them, casting strange reflections that flickered in the endless void.

“What are we after?” Roy shouted over the wind, his voice carrying through the dark expanse, perhaps reaching further than he intended.

pescis flits between the rigid spires of the ghost town, wings a blur of muted green-blue light. carried on the wind is an iron tang that stings the back of her throat, and a hollow, keening sound that makes the back of her neck prickle with apprehension.

"we're here for selfish reasons," she calls back, mouth hurting around the honest truth.

the people demand their leaders. sootopolis demands her presence. rayquaza demands her devotion. here, among the shambling dead, she is no one and nothing. and this nobody, with her shoulder turned to address her kin, does not see the half-rotted carrion corviknight that darts towards them with talons outstretched.

Roy didn’t care much for mysteries, but that wasn’t going to stop him from following Freya to the very end. A faint smirk crossed his face as he recognized her need to escape the burdens of their world by venturing into another. Though he kept his own vulnerabilities hidden, he couldn’t help but admire the subtle ways others allowed their own to show.

Before his thoughts could wander further, something caught his eye. A dark, shifting mass stretched beneath them, churning and restless. As he squinted down from Balmung’s back, he realized with a chill that it wasn’t an ocean. They were flying over a sea of megalopolans, driven mad by the absence of light. All of their hands were raised in a desperate attempt to reach for Freya's pokemon flying above them.

“Do you know where we’re going?” he called out, attempting to get answers.

fortunately for her, pescis reads the subtle shifts in air with a waggle of his antennae. freya's muscles protest as the flygon suddenly veers to the right. the corviknight careens past them and its vicious talons scrabble against the prism exterior of a building. it hits its wing hard and shudders, falling down, down, down into the waiting, outstretched hands of the mad below them.

"seems even the air isn't as safe as i thought," she mumbles as she catches her breath. she tugs back on pescis' straps and he banks.

angled toward a flat roof that towers among most others in its vicinity, freya waves for roy to follow. she doesn't dismount when pescis flitting wings stop their nauseating movement. she sways as he lumbers towards roy and balmung.

"there's a sky pillar here. like ours at home. but it might be more intact. i thought maybe we could find something." she looks away. "i can't give you a better answer than that. i don't even know what i'm looking for."

Balmung banked sharply, narrowly avoiding the Corviknight as it darted by. Roy remained silent, offering no comment to his cousin. He simply kept following her lead as she guided them to a flat rooftop.

“Fair enough,” he said after a moment, his Charizard settling into a more relaxed stance beneath him. “I wasn’t trying to question you. Just wanted to be sure you had your bearings.”

From his perch at the roof’s edge, Roy peered down at the wasteland below. The surface was a desolate expanse of ruin, marked by decay and clusters of megalopolans huddling together in the gloom. The sight tugged at him briefly, but he pulled his gaze away, turning his attention back to Freya.
