His Gym tour marched onwards.

The heels of his dressing shoes thudded against the library's carpeted floors as he passed through many doors, showing no interest in the myriad bookcases lining the walls and halls.

His arm was held at his side in a bicep curl, pokeballs held firmly in hand and rolled about like baoding balls as he continued to advance deeper into the structure.

Finally, he stepped into a room which's purpose was unmistakable— the familiar lines had been carved on the floors.

"Good afternoon." He intoned, ever polite.

"Good afternoon, Gwyar."

There hadn't been any need to lead Gwyar to the battle area, nor a need to meet him on the way there; Gwyar seemed to be a man who cut to the chase, so Hideo wouldn't waste his time, a variety of Psychic Pokemon already waiting on the outskirts of the arena.

And Hideo already had the Pokemon he'd be battling with besides him: a tall Lilligant that stood tall, bouncing up and down in place, clearly eager for a battle. The Rabsca beside it seemed less eager for battle, but was no less ready to fight.

The arena already had a decent crowd sitting on the bleachers; Gym Leader vs Gym Leader battles always drew more people than his usual battles.

And Hideo would make sure they had a good presentation to watch.

Once Gwyar sent out his Pokemon and was ready, Hideo would begin. "Now then, let's set the stage for our battle!"

The Psychic Terrain was spread by the Psychic Pokemon on the outer edges of the arena, the environment quickly transforming into something completely different.

At The Gates

The building around them disappeared, the bleachers and the audience disappearing as well. It would be as if the building they were in had never existed; they stood before a massive fortress, the gates that served as its entrance on one side, and a deserted expanse on the other.

Yet despite the cracks in the land beneath them, the ground felt the same as before; the illusion was purely visual, even as even a single step cast dust and dirt into the air.

Despite the size of the room seemingly expanding, all challengers would be aware of the proper dimensions of the room (as well as where the spectators were located) courtesy of the Telepathic Pokemon maintaining the illusion.

"With the room properly set up: the first moves go to the challenger!"

His gaze noted the spectators, briefly, a smile curling at his lip. Just like at home— though he doubted these were his fans.

With a bold declaration, the gym leader of littleroot changed the entire battlefield— rather theatrically, at that.

The world around them shimmered, before vast walls began to grow from the very soil, the spectators disappearing behind solid ramparts and flowing blue banners.

"Hoh." He intoned, rather impressed himself.

A bit flattered, as well— was this battlefield chosen based on his preferences?

"Yes. Of course!" He responded, squeezing the luxury balls in his hand firmly before swinging his arm out sharply, sending out two pokemon onto the scene.

A Kingambit and Runerigus took to the field, their eyes taking in the fantastical scenery around them, before finally settling upon their opponents.

Gwyar swept his arm through the air dramatically, his jacket flowing behind.

"Begin!"

The two pokemon launch into action.

The Kingambit's eyes glower sharply as its gaze flies across the battlefield, meeting the Liligant's own gaze for but a brief moment— before smirking at her.

The Runerigus is much more direct— It rises above its partner, arms spread out arms coming together forcefully as dark forces are compressed between stone palms— and a shadow ball is launched towards the Rabsca.

TL;DR:
-Battle start.
-Kingambit used Torment on Liligant.
-Runerigus used Shadow Ball on Rabsca.

At The Gates

Truth be told, Hideo had little control over what kind of illusion his Pokemon put up. He just knew that some of his Pokemon had preferences, and whatever images they put up were a treat for everyone watching.

Gwyar had made an impression on some of them, if they could key in on his preferences like this. Hideo and Gwyar had been on a number of adventures, after all.

With both teams ready, Gwyar's made the first move. The Lilligant's eyes locked with the Kingambit's, and the Torment took its hold on her - but rather than show fear, the Lilligant let out a giggle, undeterred by fear.

And she even made sure to show it, performing a Victory Dance, as if to invite the idea that Hideo's victory was already assured, lines in the ground made as it moved about.

The Rabsca had to contend with a more harmful effect, the Shadow Ball squarely striking her. She was clearly displeased, the frown on her face clear to see as she managed to keep her balance - and more importantly, keeping the sphere she held up.

She wouldn't let that attack go without retaliation, focusing Psychic energy on the Runerigus, aiming to toss it up and down.
