[attr="class","spiral"] the bug catching contest seems so juvenile on paper but fernando cannot pass up the thrill of the hunt. the man's one forte is catching pokemon, in whatever form through any means necessary. a contest of skill to prove who can truly catch them all? nothing but child's play and an excuse to expand his repertoire even more.

fernando enters petalburg forest and it no longer has the charm of persephone amavi's wild adventures. the vegetation is only ankle high and the fright of what lurks underneath has no power over him. childhood wonder is killed by adult expectations.

[attr="class","spiral"] armaldo is the first of many. the hulking pokemon sticks out like a sore thumb. its hulking mass, relative to the other insects that call the forest home, make it an easy target for fernando's pokemon. his choice is his own bug pokemon: golisopod. the more lanky pokemon is able to leave a startling FIRST IMPRESSION by ramming a SUCKER PUNCH straight into the pokemon's shelled head. the AQUA JET RAZOR SHELL that follows knocks the wind out of it, long enough for a spare pokeball to scoop it up.

[attr="class","spiral"] a surskit out of water is a surskit out of its mind. between two water pokemon, the golisopod is a rocket. it shows the smaller pokemon how to truly become an AQUA JET. the difference is size allows the pokemon to swat the surskit away like the dainty little bug that it is. a quick RAZOR SHELL across its body is all she wrote and fernando catches another one.

[attr="class","spiral"] the spewpa is less mobile than either previous pokemon. it becomes stupidly easy to attack. even the PROTECT cannot render the pokemon impervious. the moment it tries to lash out, a SUCKER PUNCH to the face teaches it it's place — right inside the pokeball made to contain it. another one under his name and one step closer ahead of the pack.

[attr="class","spiral"]several rounds of combat dignify a moment's respite. the goliosopid is returned in exchange for a skuntank. the more bulky pokemon doesn't have the same maneuverability but makes up for it in raw fire power. literally. a turn of the pokemon's rear sets it up to attack the newly encountered beautifly. the sound of flatulence is the ignition for the FLAMETHROWER that spouts from the pokemon's anal cavity. the putrid smell of burning toxins is the only sign left of the disabled beautifly. it fall into captivity without question.

[attr="class","spiral"]the butterfly isn't a worthy adversary and neither is the small worm that has yet to metamorphose. fernando coughs to alert his pokemon and the skuntank throws that ass back, spraying down the defenseless bug with a flash fire of FLAMETHROWER. it's almost too easy. luckily, the pokemon never has the chance to get off a potent POWDER which would've spelled two types of defeat.

[attr="class","spiral"] how fitting to encounter a wimpod. fernando's uncertain what an aquatic pokemon such as itself is doing out in the forest but he pays it no mind. familiar with its typing, fernando opts for a different approach. "NIGHT SLASH," he commands and his pokemon opens up in a hurried charge. rather than rely on the FLAMETHROWER it had grown accustomed to, the pokemon lashes out with its sharp claws. the shell exterior of the pokemon is no match. another easy catch.
