All the heat and brimstone in the world doesn't seem to be enough to put a damper on cait alfric 's Rampardos. The fossil Pokemon has no problems navigating the many fire attacks thrown its way before it knocks the Camerupt out with a solid HEAD SMASH. Rendered unconscious, the Pokemon easily gets subdued by one of Cait's empty Pokeballs. [break][break]

Once the dust settles and the heat dies down the party continues onward. Unfortunately, none of those who have ventured down the ruins previously have returned to seek their riches. To the uninitiated, the tunnels have changes, winding and rerouting them to a path untraveled. What lies ahead is a stop with runic doors that impede their progress. Among the giant labs of ancient rock is a set of symbols that read as follows: [break][break] [break]

The last end of the text is scratched up and it looks like there three spaces to separate the words. Those who are able read the braille may be able to decipher the ancient text. The riddle doesn't necessarily allude to opening these mighty doors but certain Pokemon may be able to discern an odd energy radiating within the room.[break][break]

Lucas Lane reads the text with an expertise fit for his scholarly achievements. However, that means little unless he can piece together the once worn puzzle. Time is of the essence once the great doors part, divided by the mythical energy that resonates from the wide range of Pokemon present. Together, they coax the hidden temple to vacate their secrets and when the doors come to a rumbling stop what lies ahead is the treasures of the forgotten. [break][break]

Should they proceed, each adventurer will be able to see a vast variety or artifacts peeking out of toiled earth. Each one shines with an alluring whisper, beckoning to those brave enough to cross what seems to be dried up quicksand. Further down the hall is stable ground but the distance proves too hard to pass without wading through what seems like dried quicksand.[break][break][break]

Lucas Lane held back during the initial scramble to retrieve the artifacts. Looking around the room he can see that it was far bigger than he'd initially expected. A mixture of treasures and sand lined the area nearest to the doors. But as the room stretched on the treasures grew more sparse till sand was all he could see with his flashlight. [break][break]

As he mulls over the braille in his head Lucas Lane directs his flashlight around the room. A part of him was expecting to find two more branching rooms.

The treasures themselves are no trap, at least not intentionally, but they've been shaken from their resting place. The sandy breaches of their advancement open up with each step and some of the adventurers can feel themselves sinking. A constant motion keeps them afloat and panic doesn't sink in until cait alfric's Ramapados pulls several of the treasures. [break][break]

A deep rumble quakes from underneath all of them and the sand starts to sink, funneling into a gaping hole below what the eye can see. Unfortunately, it takes everyone with them. Cait is swept away with her Pokemon as well as off her feet. She can reverse time but something prevents it. Her powers are muted and useless, much like her companions. [break][break]

priam conrad is quick to scramble, grabbing treasures and eager to exit. His agility keeps him from getting a mouthful of sand but once he takes one wrong step he sinks immediately. Noelle Lane is not so lucky. The weight of her pregnancy weighs her down and she's no longer pleased as the sands eat her up. Even if she's not showing fate has already decreed her to carry; the cause and effect is just a little before its time.[break][break]

@mrtm87 proves both the most competent and suffers the worst fate. Luck seems to run against him and he's force underneath, drowning as grain after grain eases through his mouth and nostrils. It feels like the world has it out for him and there's some truth to it. The pain of being taken under is not unlike the suffering of his favorite Dragon Clan member. The only difference is that there's no one to comfort him here except the taste of dirt. [break][break]

anya fowl and FERNANDO SILPH find little fruit in their exploration. They may derive some facts and findings but nothing substantial. The hieroglyphics and pictures taken will need to be referenced externally and even then, they find no more than flavor text. Their pursuit of knowledge leaves them more than empty handed. What plunder is there when they fail to acquire any treasure either? Closed mouths don't get fed and they remain starved. [break][break]

The opening of the door seems to have triggered something within the ruins. Space distorts and the same phenomenon that had prevented inhabitants from teleporting seems work against them and spit them out. They land with a thud outside with a bruised bottom and wounded pride. Their treasures remain on their person and they leave with at least some reward. [break][break]

Lucas Lane who had held back manages to evade being pulled under by the sinking sands. When all is said and done, he can see a path forward without the unstable footing that had swallowed his fellow explorers. Unfortunately, his hypothesis of several branching rooms proves to be false but there is still a long ways in he's yet to have explored. The further down he travels the more he'll be able to distinguish a translucent barrier. Several of them layer on top of each other, each with their own subtle hues. They rotates on an axis around what he presumes to be the next room over but it's hard to tell until he passes.
