The remnants of the Desert Ruins were thought to be lost to the ravages of wind and sand but a sudden change in climate has allowed them to be discovered once more. The raging SANDSTORM has settled down and the collapsed entrance to the ruins have become exposed. Large boulders block the way and only the strongest Pokemon have the power to move the debris aside to let curious explorers back inside. [break][break]

Those familiar with Hoenn will remember the news report of a rescue team being sent to retrieve Professor Creighton. Inside, they found a Regirock and miraculously most of them lived to tell the tale. Who knows what lurks in the shadows now, what mysterious that were left uncovered due to their rush to escape Regirock's EXPLOSION? Only the valiant dare to find out. [break][break]

Lucas made his way to the ruined temple entrance by air. His aerodactyl no more than a dot in the sky to the people making their way by foot or truck. When he lands the prehistoric pokemon sent sand flying with each flap of its wings.

The sand shifts beneath his feet as he approaches the collapsed entrance. "Shame," he thinks to himself as he reaches for his pokeballs. "Must've been breathtaking." One by one Lucas releases pokemon that begin to assist with the clearing of debris.

There was a rumble on the ground as a large dragon landed. From the salamence's back, the pink-haired woman appeared, waving at her friend. "hey! noelle reporting for duty!" she flashed him a grin, shielding her eyes from the fluttering dust and grain with an arm. "I also phoned a few friends, they'll be here shortly!" She was, of course, referring to her rowdy clan. Hopefully, this wouldn't be too dangerous, least she'd feel guilty for inviting them into this mess.

Yeah, he got the call.

Lucky enough for Noelle, Chancelor had been relatively close—he had spent the past couple of hours sparring with this Pokémon in the blistering desert like the 'mad man' he was known to be when it came to his intensive training regimen. In no time at all, he reaches the blocked entrance of the temple upon a tricked out BMX bicycle built for speed and the sandy and rocky landscape of this sweltering desert. "Yo, I'm here. Was' poppin'?" The Fighter announces his presence with a very distinct dialect not native to this region. He was shirtless, slightly sweaty, and came with a makeshift hood on his head in an attempt to block the heat of the sun—this hood made by his lack-there-of shirt. "Oh, tryna' go spelunkin' on some Lara Croft shit, huh, El?" He says, approaching the Dragon Priestess with charming laughter, Pokémon already summoned and following alongside their human. "You called the right person. Lets get it." He booms with excitement, Pokémon feeding off the energy their Trainer emits as they helped in unblocking this caved-in entrance.

cait had been contacted on short notice, but she had come willingly despite the weary look that edged her expression when she had looked upon the debris. memories stirred of regirock, the visions that her god had so graciously presented to her still indubitably fresh.

"let's get to work."

the young woman reached for her belt after greeting Lucas Lane , a tidy collection of orbs situated there. she'd introduce no less than seven, having already briefed them prior to their arrival here.

"start clearing the way," she urged.

The numerous Pokemon make short work of the rubble. Their hard work is rewarded when the last boulder is removed from the entrance and runic gates come into view. It is Lucas Lane (highest roll) who ushers the others forward and has the honor of prying open the creaking doors. The proceeding darkness welcomes the party forward and the distinct putrid smell of gaseous fumes fill the nose of anyone who dares to enter. [break][break]

Several meters is all it takes to snuff out the light from outside. Those who cannot light their way will find their way forward questioned as the path becomes wider and the walls of the ruins no longer confine them to a singular path. [break][break]

[attr="class","anyapost"]she stands at the edge of the world. lips parted, blue eyes set on the gathering people below her. the sand swirls, obscuring her from the rest of the party, but even if she were spotted, it wouldn't matter.

she has papers on her--of cadet molly fouller, recently returning from a family trip to sinnoh--and her persona's background would slip off her tongue as smooth as silk.

but she's used to shadows, to working in fluorescent-lit rooms with gloves on her hands and silence as her companion. adrenaline is not a close friend to her, not as it is the people who chip away at the ruins below. the people who seek glory and fame and answers.

and that's what she's here for too, right? answers?

the talonflame she calls forth bares her back and anya mounts. sand churns beneath her and when her descent slows, she orders the bird to circle overhead, fingers itching as she reaches for shiva and kain's pokeballs.

but she hesitates as the group moves, as she slips behind them and a pungent scent fills her nose. fire has no place here.

instead, she drops mitka's ball and orders the luxray to gather a low charge. his tail twitches; sparks sizzle, casting minute flickers of light around him. she stays close to his side, allowing him to guide her forward and through the rubble.

When Lucas opens up the door fresh air rushes into the temple for the first time in months. When he enters there was a putrid smell to the temple. Only a few feet inside he comes to a halt.

"We're going to need some light," he calls back to the group.

From his bag, Lucas takes a flashlight and two pokeballs. The pokemon that emerge are joltik and nincada. They crawl ahead without the help of Lucas' flashlight, already accustomed to the dark interior of the temple.

Giving a frantic little wave to Chancelor, she was eager to work alongside him and the others in clearing their little path. It sucked that she couldn't just...whip her shirt off, regardless of how hot it got like her pale-haired companion. Eventually, through hard work and labor, the fallen rubble was cleared, and their next task awaited. With Lucas leading the way, they delved a bit deeper, only to come to another roadblock; darkness. Some weird guy appeared, but, thankfully seemed to want to aid them.

"I can help!" Not tired at all and excitement in her voice, she produced another pokeball. This time, a large, hairy yellow spider was revealed, the spider shaking itself off before staring at the trainers. In the awaiting darkness, its eyes seemed to gleam, as though peering into nothing but broad daylight.

Helping lead the group with the help of the illumination by the mushroom, a few globs of webs left the galvantula's mouth, the electroweb sticking to the corners of the cavern in masses of almost glowing webs, allowing them to not only see where they placed their feet, but, a proper guidance back to the entrance of their underground trek.

she offered a hand to @mrtm87 , mostly because she was a bit nervous that she herself was going to fall, given her natural clumsiness.

These ruins were dark, but this darkness was easily quelled by the joint effort of all the Pokémon present. Chancelor summons one of his own before turning his attention to Noelle. "Don't worry, clumsy. I gotcha'." The Youngest McQueen speaks with a chuckle, taking the dainty and delicate hand of Noelle Lane , and holding it tightly in a firm comforting grip. The single Pokémon accompanying the Champion light the area around the two humans in her own 'unique' way: Ivysaur leads the march ahead of the humans, her bulbous bulb absorbing—albeit slowly, light until said bulb began to glow in pulsate like a natural nightlight in the darkness ^(solarbeam). "So, you gonna' introduce me to ya' friend with the glasses, El?" Chance asks, gesturing towards Lucas Lane . His face then slowly morphs to a look of disgust, he grimaces, looking at Noelle once again. "Euugh! Did you just hot box me? The hell is that smell?!" Obviously this was all a jest, but these ruins really did smell like hot ass.

He covers their flank while presenting himself to the most opportune placement to retreat should the cave contain the same horrors as their first venture into the tomb. Naturally, that makes him the last to lay claim to any treasures they come across but he's not here for monetary valuables. The secrets of the tomb prove more valuable than anything materialistic. Right?

A foul odor plagues the temple's walls and Fernando follows suite with the others. His choice in Pokemon consist of the insects found from the bug catching contest. Their COMPOUND EYES allow them to adapt to the dark, guiding him without placing much risk on their trek deeper into the cavern's recesses.

THE EARTH GROANS with the creak of what lies ahead. the putrid smell of noxious fumes reveal themselves to be the molten ash streaming from the pokemon's stone humps. grey flakes of volcanic ash dim the heated glow of the magma dribbling off the pokemon's impervious fur. a set of smoke plumes from the camerupt's orifice and the smoke billows toward the party. Lucas Lane, the leader of the group (highest roll), is the first to come across the smog and chokes on the exhaust, gagging as tears well up in his eyes. it'll fade with time but the irritation seeps through his body, reducing him to a hacking fit.[break][break]

LAVA PLUMES and the exposure of raw heat against the rampant gas causes an explosion that sets the ceiling on fire. luckily, the group is far enough away that the attack has no effect on them, harmlessly passing over them. however, Noelle Lane is too close to the walls and her shirt catches on flames (lowest roll), spreading and threatening to engulf her if she doesn't put it out quickly![break][break]

only now does the pokemon realize that it has company and grunts aggressively, stomping in place and ready to split the earth in half. unfortunately, it stands between them and venturing deeper into the ruin's depths.

one participant may capture the MEGA CAMERUPT for the price of 160 of their current points. this amount will be deducted from their total going forward. you may post in any order but capture priority is given to the character with the least amount of points and passed to the next participant in order of their current points in ascending order. post whether you attempt or pass on your chance at capturing the pokemon. another player may steal another player's capture attempt at the cost of 240 points.[break][break]

you can use the camerupt in mega evolution form for 3 posts before the mega effect fades.[break][break]

cait allowed her pokemon rest in the form of being returned to their respective capsules, her beloved companions having handled the bulk of the work. with a quiet utterance of thanks she'd reattach their capsules onto her belt, trailing only slightly behind the loosely gathered and unorganized group as her gaze swiveled to and fro.

'it reeks,' she thought, grimacing.

the pungent scent of smoke accompanied by the uncomfortable warmth made for less than desirable conditions. perhaps - if she had the aptitude of stormy - cait would be more at ease with her immediate surroundings. but instead she felt slightly put off and perhaps even half-tempted to abandon this venture and return to the entrance, her curiosity thoroughly abated.

but the gym leader remained and relied upon the light generated by her fellows, her attention flitting from one place to the other in rapid succession. despite the unpleasant conditions, this ancient structure didn't appear entirely uninhabitable; the chance of there being life within the depths of this formerly sealed off ruin low to moderate.

"oh... no."

cait's eyes grew round with alarm as she released a quiet moan of despair tinged with fear, the sight of flame stirring all manner of unpleasant memories.

a charred corpse of a girl she had failed to save.

a tower and the fire which had greedily consumed it in its entirety.

"rampardos!"

once faced with the ferocious camerupt, she made the wise decision of summoning aid to deal with the riled beast. her rampardos appeared more than eager to accept the challenge, the pokemon allowing for his base instincts to reign as he rushed forward with a hearty bellow. despite the heat which oozed from camerupt's very being, her living fossil remained steady as he worked to whittle the fire-imbued creature down, effectively wielding his great strength and hefty bulk against the mega.

'i think i have a few spare capsules,' cait thought. 'i don't know if it'll keep them, though.'

if it meant removing an obstacle that posed such a threat, she'd be willing to take this gamble. only when she felt the moment was right did she toss a single capsule, clinging onto the hope that the dual-type could be contained.
