The night was cold, and that cold brought out the once slumbering Snom from their hideouts within trees and beneath mounds of dirt. Remiel watched them as they slowly crawled out into the forest to feed, their forms glistening in the moonlight like diamonds. They reminded him of home.

But this was no time to reminisce on old Christmases and childhood days spent playing in the snow. Perhaps people enjoyed remembering the fond memories of their past, but the young royal had always been firmly in the present. The future was all that mattered. Then, after he'd reach it and his life came to an end, the legacy he would leave behind.

Something had been following him for the past ten minutes or so. Stalking him from the bushes. Keeping pace with him as he ran through the moonlit forestry. Each time he turned to look at it, however, it made itself hidden.

Remiel hardly paid it any mind. And Taliyah didn't react to it either. It was only as he entered a clearing that he stopped to turn back over his shoulder. And he saw it standing there. Staring at him. A cat. Moments passed... then he turned away and moved on without it. He didn't sense its presence anymore afterwards.

The soft jingle of a bell echoed throughout the forest. It was a chilling sound. One that Remiel couldn't quite pinpoint the direction of. But he knew it was too irregular to be anything besides a living creature prompting it.

Eventually, however, he managed to find the source. A Chansey was ringing its Heal Bell on a group of Eevee that had eaten bad berries. They laid, sick and dying, on the ground below. Whatever magic she seemed to try and call upon wasn't enough. And the black-haired royal moved on.

Inadvertently, Remiel had caused an Eevee to burst out from some bushes and run away as he, himself, was running. Though it believed it was being chased, however, there was no such desire from Remiel at all. Regardless, before he could divert his own path, the young lad was soon assaulted by a stream of magical stars from Eevee's Swift.

Thankfully, Taliyah rushed out from behind him to harmlessly absorb the blows before rushing towards the Eevee. In one fatal swipe of her blade, the Honedge put the little critter that had dared attack its descendant to rest. Then, when she was done, she returned to Remiel's back before he moved on.

The breeze that swept through the enchanted forest at night didn’t simply carry the chill of the alpine mountains nearby, but the squeaking of Woobat’s as well. One of them was swept away from its colony by this breeze, eventually finding itself plummeting into the depths of the forest below. After a few snapping of branches and rustling of leaves, the Woobat managed to reorient itself and Roost on a branch.

Then, suddenly, the sound of someone approaching.

A young human with a Honedge against his back leapt over a log as he jogged towards the center of the forest. The Woobat sniffed at his presence, sensing that the human probably realized it was there, too. But he didn’t seem to care, instead moving swiftly beneath the branch it was roosted on and past it.

Another Chansey in the forest. This one appeared in the middle of a grass clearing, looking up at the tapestry of stars as if it were making a wish of some sort. Remiel hardly regarded it.

The Chansey appeared to be the caretakers of the forest above any other pokémon he'd seen tonight. During a night where he'd expected great terrors to arise and challenge him, however, Remiel was now beginning to feel the weight of his disappointment. Regardless, he would make it to the center of this mysterious place. His yearning for experience and training would likely go wanting tonight, but not his curiosity.

As he ran through the forest, something fell from the tree branches above. Taliyah was quick to remove herself off his back and defend her descendant. When her strike met with the Applin, however, it failed to deliver the fatal slice she had expected.

A sharp 'clang' reverberated through the forest: like the sound of sword against shield. Whatever apple this Applin had chosen to live in appeared to be far more durable than the rest. And that was worth researching further. So, removing an empty safari ball from his belt, Remiel tossed it at the dazed Applin that had just been knocked into a tree.
