The forest had a... weird vibe to it, that was sure. But, aside from an adolescent Applin hanging from a nearby tree, Remiel had yet to see anything of note. Nothing had sprung out at him yet. Nothing demanded his attention. He had only just breached the territory, after all, he reasoned. He needed to go in deeper.

So, walking past the harmless wyrm, the black-haired royal moved on. He hopped over a moss-covered log, maneuvered his way past some rose bushes, and entered a lightly fogged area. It was then that Taliyah seemed to vibrate against his back. She sensed something close.

As he walked deeper into the enchanted forest, signs of last night's snow began to appear on the trees and as slush-like piles on the ground. Out from one of the burrows partially concealed by slush and dead leaves, a Snom crawled out to begin its search for food. Based on the surroundings and the larger pokémon that surely lurked in this wilderness, Remiel had to surmise that it had a 20% chance of actually surviving the day. What a shame.

He felt no pity for it, however. Regardless of the fact that it was a pokémon from his own country of origin and regardless of its size and demeanor, which many would consider 'cute', the black-haired royal knew it had to act as prey for something larger and deadlier. That was simply just the circle of life at work. Far too high up on that food chain to care about battling or even catching an infant like that, however, Remiel moved on. He was burning daylight. He needed to find something before the warden called him back eventually.

The forest grew mistier as he drew closer to its center. So misty, in fact, that he feared he would lose his sense of direction. Now more than ever, he was reminded of the Slumbering Weald back in Galar. His home region was a land ripe with legends and fairy-tales. It made him wonder whether his current obsession was just that.

Regardless, he kept moving forward. A wild Eevee crossed his path without warning, stopping just behind a gangly tree to look at him before darting away again. He wondered if it, too, was from Galar. He wondered if it felt the same pang of disillusionment he'd felt just now.

Through the leaves of the bushes he passed, the black-haired royal could spot a distinctly pink-shape tending to grounded nest. Within the few moments he had as he ran, Remiel was quick to identify it as a wild Chansey. Though somewhat rare, many of them tended to build nests made of leaves in the forests and woods they inhabited.

This one appeared to be doing the same. Perhaps in an effort to build some sort of infirmary for the wild pokémon in these enchanted woods, he thought. Regardless, he had no desire to bother the Chansey. He continued with his exploration without stopping. Taliyah, for now, remained dormant against his back.

He stumbled across a cat napping in a tree. Its fur was a golden yellow, and it lazily opened its eyes to regard him after its big ears had captured the sound of his footsteps. After it took a deep yawn, however, Remiel started to feel woozy. It had put him under a spell, and he needed to act fast.

So, without hesitation, he reached behind him to grab the hilt of his Honedge before casting it forward. "Taliyah, Shadow Sneak!" He commanded, watching as the blade dissolved into a shadow before reappearing behind the startled cat and striking. When it hit the ground, the black-haired royal quickly unclipped an empty safari ball and chucked it. He could withstand the sleepiness, but only if the cat stayed within the ball.

It wasn't long after his captured of the golden cat that Remiel came across another. The features on this one, however, appeared more feminine than the last. Furthermore, it lacked the vibrant colour of fur that the previous had. It stared at him from atop a tree branch, far more awake than its predecessor.

Remiel stared back. But he only gave it a mere moment of his time before moving on. There was no desire to catch another, even if it was a female. And she seemed perfectly content with being a bystander herself, watching as the armed human disappeared in the trees beyond.
