The risk of a cave-in was certainly something that was on the back of his mind, especially with such a large beast as Blackjaw stomping around. But the caverns which they had entered were, thankfully, wide and spacious enough for the Tyrantrum to accomodate. Which was all well and good, considering Remiel had put it upon himself to train the dinosaur further in this sort of environment.

The chittering and chattering of pokémon nearby was almost persistent since they had entered the latest chamber. But did any of them dare approach? And, additionally, the presence of another trainer in the area was certainly a big possibility. One that would come to fruition sooner than either of them would come to think.

she was doing a lot of spelunking lately. guess that was okay when it came down to wanting more experience, but she was getting tired of caves. they were always an unknown - and she didn't like not knowing things. it came with the territory of being a grunt though; she wasn't important enough to know more of what goes on. she was there to shut up, take orders and be a shield between herself and the higher-ups. if that was actually true or not, Wren didn't know. she hadn't met a lot of the other Rockets. they were all scattered in the wind.

guess today was different.

as she entered this particular chamber, she could hear the low growls of feral Pokemon. specifically, she could see movement in this dark place. Wren was good in dark places, her eyes adjusted easily to the surroundings. she spotted a human shape, followed by a much larger one. a trainer and their Pokemon. with her specifically was a Riolu - not as intimidating as the beast a few feet away. "hey" she uttered at last, not exactly knowing who she was speaking to. never met the guy before. couldn't say who he was. she kept it neutral, kept her tongue in line.

Remiel was only spared a moment to analyze the girl with his indifferent blue-grey eyes... before the monsters of Granite Cave emerged. A Rhydon and a Lairon had chosen to attack the large combatant that had entered their territory. From the way they looked at each other while flanking Blackjaw from both sides, however, Remiel could tell they weren't exactly allies. They had simply chosen to attack the intruder at the same time.

Rather than wait for them to attack, the black-haired royal was quick to issue a command. "Earth Power, now." And the blue dinosaur heeded it, hitting the ground with one powerful stomp before fiercely roaring, an action that nearly forced Remiel to cover his ears as the ground shook and exploded beneath both the Rhydon and the Lairon. The latter was knocked back unconscious almost immediately. The former, on the other hand, took the blow and charged forward with a Horn Attack despite his injury. Remiel sighed.

"Iron Head." And, when the two monstrous heads of the Rhydon and Tyrantrum finally clashed, the latter remained standing as the clear winner. The former collapsed, then struggled to crawl away afterwards.

Turning back to the girl as his Tyrantrum triumphantly chased the Rhydon away with snarls and snaps, Remiel adjusted his black-rimmed glasses so they rested evenly on his nose. "Are you a pokémon trainer?"

well, that right there was the fruit of training. the t-rex beast was obviously well trained and obedient. she felt envy for that. her own Pokemon were well-adjusted, sure, but nowhere near the powerhouse of an actual fully evolved one. she'd stare with a brow raised, barely registering and also not really giving a shit when the fight started. she seemed unfazed by the actions.

and once it settled down... well, he focused on her at last. sure, a spark of irritation had flashed through her mind when he just ignored her like that. she had tried to be pleasant for what it was worth. so she didn't say anything to him at first regarding his attempt. debating even leaving, she'd regard him neutrally.

"yeah" guess he could say that. her official title was Newbie Grunt of The Scattered Rockets. but she'd let that slide. "I'm just looking around for more Pokemon." she informed him. totally not being creepy and standing there watching him. ew. she shoved her hands into her jacket pocket as she looked around. nothing of interest had happened to make her involved in the capture.

Remiel's keen blue-grey eyes naturally observed her body language. It was clear she was uncomfortable... on some level. Perhaps it had been something he had said or done. But, regardless, he made no endeavor to ask. It was only when she suggested that her presence here was inconvenient for him that he spoke. "If you'd like. I don't necessarily mind either way."

It was then that a Gastrodon suddenly fell from the ceiling in the gap between them, landing with a 'splosh' when it briefly flattened into a pancake. As it slowly began to reform itself, a Hawlucha suddenly glided in from a nearby ridge in an attempt to land a Flying Press on her Riolu. "Heads up." Remy warned, turning back to the Gastrodon as he called for his Tyrantrum. "Blackjaw. Earth Power." He said, backing away from the Gastrodon as it began to approach him.

Creating some distance between himself and the slug, and subsequently the girl as well, Remiel only turned away from the creature when a blast from the earth below it sent it flying back upward. From afar, his blue dinosaur had stomped on the ground yet again, roaring with an almost taunting tone as it watched the slug land back down onto the ground and become a pancake again. Before it could reform itself fully again, however, Remiel was swift to withdraw a pokéball and cast it.

joke's on him - Wren was always uncomfortable around people she didn't know. curiosity only got her so far and once she knew the source of the noises and growling... well, her interest began to wane. stronger trainers typically have little time to socialize with her. granted, she understood that. she was re-starting her own "journey" and wasn't as established. she supposed that was a fancy way of saying she felt looked-down on. not saying this guy was doing it - it was one of those universal shitty things to think.

"I guess I'll be an annoying fly buzzing around for a bit longer" she stated. feeling too lazy to actually go anywhere else, Wren stayed where she was. it was unlikely she'd find any more Pokemon with the Tyrantrum roaming around. all the strong ones would be attracted to it, and all the weak ones would flee. "cause you don't mind." she'd add, twisting her head to look back at the guy as he issued a warning. of course, she was aware of the Pokemon congregating on them this moment but -

maybe he wasn't as big as a jerk as she thought if he gave her that. though there was little time to react or even help as the fossil Pokemon dealt with it effectively. by the time she pulled out a Pokeball to release her own beast, they were either gone or sucked into a sphere. Wren wasn't a starry eyed idiot - she wasn't going to bug him for pointers like a newbie or coddle his ego. staying a bit back from their presence, she let him do his work. "a gastrodon..." she raised a brow. not a very popular Pokemon. rarely seen on teams. the utter was soft and mostly to herself though.

"he's Blackjaw, right?" she asked at last, casting an admiring gaze on the strong fossil Pokemon. "and that makes you...?" grasping at straws, she tried to get into the lull of introduction.

After the capture proved successful, Remiel sauntered over to pick up the ball as his Tyrantrum searched for more opponents in the massive cave chamber. As he picked it up and attached it to the holster on his belt, he turned to regard the young girl when she spoke. He wasn't quite sure what had become of the Hawlucha that had attacked her Riolu, but he trusted they'd scared it off or something similar. "Yes, that's right," He replied, turning back to his dinosaur when it stumbled backwards and away from a boulder that suddenly rose from the ground. "My name is Remiel. Remiel Calcifet."

There was no time to ask her own name at this very moment, however, as the boulder that had risen from the ground shook off its rocky substance and revealed itself to be a Torterra instead. It promptly attempted to strike Blackjaw with a Wood Hammer, swinging its tree in the dinosaur's direction. And, though it struck, it wasn't nearly as effective as the Torterra thought it would be. Blackjaw's Dragon-type lended itself quite nicely.

The blue tyrannosaurus struck back almost immediately with a powerful swing of its Dragon Tail. And, when the Torterra was upended onto its side, Remiel was quick to draw out another luxury ball and cast it.

his name meant nothing to her. after all, they had just met and it didn't carry weight like old pal names did. she gave a curt nod before he broke off to deal with the giant turtle. once again, she seemed unfazed by the sudden rush of battle. despite her rookie-looking team tucked away in their respectable Pokeballs, Wren wasn't a newbie. she had earned badges in her time on the road. she proved to be intimidating when she wanted to be.

he didn't have time to ask her name before the Torterra was dealt with and she didn't take it personally. she also had no idea she was so casually speaking to another Rocket. a much more experienced one who had earned his place. she had yet to make that splash. "Wren" she didn't give her surname. fancy folks did. people who were formal did. she was just a nobody from Hoenn. the Baines name was an uninteresting mystery. but before she could say anything else, something flung itself at her.

seeing the dinosaur an intimidating target, the wild Pokemon went at the unarmed girl. her Riolu came back suddenly - unknown what it had even done to the karate bird but looking smug. Lennox was quick to act, blocking the blow from reaching his trainer and kicking it backward. pouncing forward, it'd strike its paws out rapidly before the Throh was down. Wren didn't even toss a Pokeball at the felled beast. "thanks, bud" she stated as her partner rejoined her. he trilled happily after a quick pat on the head. "doesn't look like anything is here for us." she added to the Riolu.

so far she had terrible luck in finding a new teammate. "we'll be on our way soon" she added to Remiel. just in case he suddenly decided to care. that was a joke.

Remiel had picked up his latest capture and tucked it away as Wren spoke. She'd been standing around with no purpose or particular interest for the wildlife that had come out for them so far, so he wasn't all that surprised to hear her say she'd be leaving soon. "Understandable." He replied, not one to waste time himself. When he noticed a Magneton suddenly floating down from the ceiling and blocking the path she could use to walk away and out of the chamber, however, he continued.

"Looks like you'll have some trouble on that front... do you require any assistance?"

Suddenly, and without warning, his Tyrantrum had whacked a Pawniard with its tail that had been attempting to pierce through his rocky hide. It flew past the gap between Wren and Remy before crashing into a cave wall nearby. Curious, the black-haired royal withdrew another luxury ball before sauntering towards it. Despite its injuries, it struggled to get back up on both feet as the human approached. It was defiant. Strong.

Though terribly inexperienced.

Stopping just a few feet away from it, Remiel dropped to a crouch to reach eye-level with it... before extending an open hand. Instinctively, the Pawniard fought back against the hand with a swift strike from its claw, drawing blood from Remiel's palm. But it froze when the man appeared unaffected. Unconcerned. When he spoke, despite the blood dripping from his palm, it had the pokémon's rapt attention. "Care to join a purpose greater than yours? Give meaning to your life?"

It was only then that he acknowledged his injury with his calm blue-grey eyes. Unhurriedly pulling his hand back, he set the luxury ball down between them before pulling out a handkerchief and wiping himself clean. He watched to see whether the Pawniard would accept.

very few Pokemon were considered worthy of her time. it wasn't an egotistical thing to say; she preferred her team to be a sort of comfort as well as hardy battlers. you can't hug metal. well, you could but it'd either cut you or feel cold. the Pokemon she raised were her family, and maybe it was vain of her to pick only her favorites (or very cuddly ones) but everyone had their type.

so why was she out here? if not to look for more... unappealing Pokemon, then why? experience. doing a lay of the land. meeting new folks. possibilities were endless. maybe she should catch something to trade but saw nothing of value - and she had a limited amount of Pokeballs. as the mighty t-rex stomped another wild Pokemon, she was dealing with her own problem. "I got it" she replied to Remiel.

as he dealt with his own capture, she would instruct Lennox to make quick work of the magnet. a force palm broke the steel-type's defense. it was knocked back, hitting the other wall and stumped to the ground. however, before she got another step in... something blocked her path again. something angry with the way she had treated the magnet Pokemon.
