The lights are always dim in the Spectra territory. Thick fog embosoms the entire kingdom with notches of spontaneous yet brief purplish glow, centuries-old pines cascading the boundaries, and the yowling of rabid pokémons in the pitch black void. The place is a perfect fuel for nightmares and sleepless nights for players who decide to roam the phantom region.

But tonight, it serves as their battlefield.

Dabbing into her gadget, the name selenatheteenagewitch popped into the log-in box, a line of dots followed. The page became clear gray as the app loaded and Selena put on the gear.

The beautiful world of virtual reality materialized in-front of her eyes. Contrary to her everyday long coat, she was now sporting a white satin robe with green detailings. Her accessories, inspired by the ocean that surrounded the kingdom. The notable shade of carnation was replaced by verdant tones. A witch hat was resting perfectly over her head.

Standing on an open field, her fingers clenching into the arms-length wand, the green-haired mage patiently waited for her companions to arrive.

A battle royale waiting to unfold.

They'd had a gentleman's agreement, of a sort. The in-game chat had been utilized as a way for eager PvP players to find suitable opponents (rather than trawling the world for boring kills on newbies and AFK players) and Gavin had been quick to volunteer.[break][break]

An agreement, but not a promise for leniency.[break][break]

His avatar greatly resembles him, though lacking the glasses he normally wears. A hint toward the man's arrogance — what need was there to fix what wasn't broken? He creeps in the shadows of the dim-lit world, staying low and keeping watch on the agreed-upon location.[break][break]

A girl is the first to arrive, green-haired and wand-wielding. Mage.[break][break]

Spinning his dagger around in his grip, he considers a very unsportsmanlike play before stepping from the shadows with a wolfish grin. He strides into the field and lifts his gloved hands, though the dagger remains tight in his left, just in case.[break][break]

"Two down, two left. Unless they've chickened out."[break][break]

He'll be down for a good one-on-one, in that case. He just wants bloodshed; this is an outlet for the violence he tried to stay away from in his day-to-day dealings with Rocket.

The Demon boy had decided to get on early and play for a bit before his battle in the Spectra Kingdom had begun. Alec was looking rather forward to it. However, his calm yet serious nature did not seem to show it. He liked personifying his character when it comes to playing games like these. Honestly, he felt that in doing so would make the game even more fun. Alec had quickly headed to the area where they would meet, his demonic body walking forth, his clawed like feet scraping the ground as he had walked, his crimson red eyes glowing in the dim light of the area. He actually liked this Kingdom in the game, especially since it fits well with his in-game appearance. [break][break]

As he silently walked up, hearing the man just say about someone chickening out, he kinda figured he was probably referring to him and other member who seemed to not be here yet. Alec had decided to ignore his comment, since well, him doing so would technically be out of character. His black body stood there silent and waiting for the fourth competitor to arrive. His white hair appeared as if it was also glowing like his red eyes, however that was not the case. His hair was just white as snow, so even the dimmest of light could bounce off of it. "Once the fourth person arrives, I believe we'll get this party started, right? If so, ... I can't wait," Alec had said, devilish grin stretched across his face, showing his teeth, which seemed to only compliment his demonic looking features even more. Soon afterwards, it was then that Alec had realized that the man who was standing before him, had looked like Patrick - the man with the Steelix he had met in Shoal Cave, however Alec did not let his realization show. He quietly had begun to device a strategy, or at least somewhat of one. If only he were good at doing that for Pokemon Battles in real life. [break][break]

She’d even found the walk cycle that best matched the spring in her step. It was everybody’s favourite self-proclaimed trainer extraordinaire… In samurai armour. With a katana.

“And last, but not least!” Her hands rested behind her bed as she strolled up to the party, taking advantage to the brief peace they shared. At least, that had been the plan. A pang of realization showed itself in her eyes, and a second later she was pointing an accusing finger at the gym leader turned demon. “Wait a second… You’re stalking me! I’m flattered, but there’s got to be better ways to spend your time, right?”

The last of her adversaries finally arrived. Ultimeite. Long dark hair, crimson-colored eyes, and a personality that could go on for the days. The final player looked just like Annie and she spoke just like Annie. The thing is, the girl would be able to recognize the witch player if not for sporting a green haired avatar.

Selena clicked a few more buttons, in real life, and a dialog box appeared before the four of them. "Invitation for four-way player versus player. Click ACCEPT to continue." Perhaps, the battle royal is the more adorned feature in PK Zones since it's all about consent. People get the chance to kill other players because they actually expect you to. But it's not like they'll ever do get to kill her, Selena thought.

The moment everybody accepted their invitation, a holographic countdown appeared in-front of them.

Selena took the moment to analyze her opponents. The first one to arrive, a dagger-wielding lad. They specialize in poison, dark, and bug types. She'd paint them sneaky and dangerous, it would be bad if she'd be the one to handle the rogue guy all on her own at the late game. She knew she needed help.

The demon, the only one who looked otherwordly among the four, handled a wand just like Selena. A formidable ally, she supposed, among the other contenders of the battle royal. If she would need someone's help to dispose of the rogue frst, it would be the other mage.

Selena took a final look at Annie who's definitely a warrior gal in the B&B. A fit in her character, she would say. Now she would have to be careful also, for if not for the sneakiness, the girl could have an upperhand if Selena did not manage to establish a good and reasonable distance between them.

PVP STARTS NOW!

With the sound of the alarm, the witch formed a purplish orb of energy from her wand and casted it down to her opponents (PSYCHIC). The impact would be enough to throw her opponents to the ground and give her the power to spring from the scene to a better vantage point.

The mage's greatest offense and defense is to fight at a long-range, and there is no way Selena wouldn't have taken advantage over it.

They all arrive, in due time. The third to join them strikes Gavin as the edgy sort, with his demonic appearance and sinister smirk. The younger girl is both more normal and, strangely, familiar in a way that Gavin can't place.[break][break]

He brushes the thought aside, refusing to allow the distraction.[break][break]

A dialogue box appears, and he's quick to accept. Adrenaline begins to settle in his veins, and the smile upon his lips is far more subtle than the devilish grin of their demonic companion. Three, two, one...[break][break]

The psychic blast is bright and disorienting, causing him to stumble back from the force of it in spite of avoiding any actual injuries. He's equally quick to recover, regaining his footing and pulling a second dagger from his belt. Both glow with a sickly yellow-green poison, and he takes aim at the closest vulnerable target: the other mage, the demon.[break][break]

Wielding them like twin needles, he leaps forth and aims to sink them deep and spread their toxins.[break][break]

When the familiar female dawned in Samurai gear had appeared. Normally, Alec would have been glad to see Annie, however his expression remained stoic and uncaring like he normally, continuing to personify his character. "Tch, as if," Alec said, however his voice did not sound normal. Instead, it sounded demonic just like his appearance. Alec didn't know he had that feature with his new appearance, but he found it super cool nonetheless, even though he didn't physically show his excitement like he normally does in real life.[break][break]

It was then that the alarm sounded, which would signify the start of their battle royale. The Female Mage had made the first move, using her Psychic powers to push him and the other two back while she had gained more distance from them. Alec dug his clawed like feet into the ground, skidding back some while tearing the ground up a bit by his claws. Fortunately, he did not get harmed by her attack, however that left him open for Annie or Patrick to attack, which is what had happened. [break][break]

Alec was struck by Patrick's when needles, which had seemed to effective, however, Alec looked up at Patrick, having him right where he wanted him. Alec kept his stoic espression, saying in his deep demonic voice, "If that's how you wanna play ...," Alec said, grabbing onto Patrick, making sure he would be able to move while making his sure his wand was touching him as well while holding onto him. A light had began to flash from the tip of Alec's black wand. "Then Let's play," Alec's face began to turn into a sinister grin and then suddenly, the light expanded, and a powerful explosion was created. Alec had set a spell that acted as a sort of Trap whenever he was physically harmed. Right after the explosion had ceased and smoke had began to creep upwards to the ominous colored sky, Alec had begun to walk out of the smoke, letting go of Gavin, hoping he'd fall and lie there.[break][break]

[attr="class","athread"]She accepted the prompt, tapping her virtual feet as the countdown began. A show of impatience, perhaps, or a girl mentally running through her options. Even in virtual reality, a battle was a battle, and she happened to have a fair bit of experience with those. That was why, when the brawl began, she gave pause, watched, and waited.

At least, that had been the plan. The Psychic blast was the first to land, and try as she might, her slim sword couldn’t defend against the blow. Her feet slid back several feet, but there was always a silver lining. A ping, an orange glow around her body and an icon above her head indicated Stamina’s activation, preparing her for the next assault.

The lady mage tried to gain distance. Annie wasn’t going to allow anybody to get a hit-and-run in so early, but then again… Drawing the rogue’s ire and fire could only mean good things with Stamina in play, and Alec- Well, she just thought killing him would be fun. There was only one move for the job, then. An opportunity revealed itself as the Shell Trap created a smokescreen, and she rushed into it.

Amidst the remnants of Alec’s explosion, hurried footsteps and the sound of a charging attack were the only tells of her ambush. Her sword appeared to the rogue and the demon mage just before her face did, her devilish grin plastered across it. From one side of her body to the other it swung, a blade of energy extending the length of her katana so she could slice them both at once. Should sword meet flesh, the debuff would take hold shortly after.

The witch deemed her strategy worked as the trio left her all alone after the psychic blast. But then the one to suffer being ganged up with attacks was the other mage among them four. If Selena were to defeat manofsteal, she would certainly need the demon's help.

But first, she needed an advantage.

A trump card that shall help her get through with the battle. Hiding behind the pine trees that covered the Kingdom of Spectra, Selena focused tuning in with the environment and harnessing the remnant energies surrounding her (CALM MIND). Closing her eyes, the sound of explosions echoed in the otherwise quiet and eeriee environment. The faint glow of the moon setting up the vibe, and she could feel the astral powers running through her veins.

Magic is the only advantage mages like her have in battle and she should not come empty-handed. Looking back at the battle field, she waited for the perfect opportunity to strike.

There's a primal sort of satisfaction as his daggers cut deep; this is just a game, but he allows himself to get lost within the unbridled violence for a moment. It's fun, knowing they can kill or be killed without consequence.[break][break]

Fun, that is, until his plans quite literally blow up in his face.[break][break]

Alec's shell trap knocks him back, a dull pain registering as the flames sear his avatar's skin. The young girl's face appears alongside a slash of her weapon, and Gavin knows it's time to get clear. He's built for a stealthy sort of close-combat, not brute force.[break][break]

Twirling the dagger in his left hand, he uses his parting shot to parry the breaking swipe, negating the usual stat-lowering effects by blocking with the weapon but still utilizing the leap animation to jump out of harms way.[break][break]

His avatar makes a three-point landing, and Gavin selects a taunt emote because he can.

Alec had not realized that the smoke spread rather quickly. Oh well. At least the smoke would keep him out of sight from the other Mage who back away earlier. It was then that Alec had made the realization that he could possibly seek aid from the female. They could work together in taking down manofsteel. Although, the Demon Mage was not sure if she would actually accept such a truce. Besides, wasn't it a little to early for the four of them to start picking sides? The Battle had just begun and who's to say that she wouldn't turn on him the moment Patrick was down? Instead of going for that, he'd wait and see how this battle royale would truly unfold.[break][break]

As the smoke continued to rise, Alec caught the sound of rushing footsteps towards him and where manofsteel was coughing up a lung at. Alec quickly had acted, using his long and thin black tail, using an animation for it to quickly unwrap itself from his waste, and it immediately swinging him upward, wrapping around a tree branch from above. [break][break]

Alec was then propelled upward to where his tail had wrapped around the tree branch, flashing an even more wicked grin at Annie before her attack could even him. Her powerful Breaking Swipe was strong enough to make the smoke around her blow back away from her. His thin tail had quickly uncurled from around the tree branch he was now standing on. He then used the leap animation to jump down and over Annie, gaining some distance from both her and Patrick. his tail swayed a little, as if it were dancing from side to side. Alec was enjoying the battle thus far. Hopefully, the other three could keep it up. "Your gonna have to do better than that." [break][break]

A good old round of nobody landing a hit. Every warrior’s favourite. Ultimeite defaulted to her idle animation, sword sheathed as she surveyed the situation. Annie took the chance to ~~grumble something about bullshit dodging off-mic, and then~~ figure out how she could have some fun. It didn’t take long for her to find her answer. The blade was drawn once more, pointed at her next target.

“Hey, hey, she’s not even fighting!” The tip directed their sights to the buffing witch. “I didn’t come here to waste all my HP fighting, just so she can clean up at the end! How about we pick her off before it comes to that?” She left herself open as a show of trust, hoping that the others would think of the bigger picture over a quick opportunity.

Annie was clever to point out Selena's hiding spot, but by the time she did so, she was already late. Her blades, hypothetical ones, are now finally ready.

Standing on the tree branch supported by her mage powers, the witch finally uttered the spell of a lifetime. Selena did not know the words but she figured it was something like an in-game feature to make everything seem quite real. A ball of energy, now blazing blue, was forming in the tip of her wand as it gathered the ominous fog that surrounded the place. She did not waste her time.

"INFERNO!"

The flames directed towards the rogue, manofsteal. He was her target from the very beginning, and she hoped her trying to defeat the rogue first will earn the trust of the demon mage.

If the Inferno touches the target, the energy ball will explode and wisps of blue colored flames will scatter into the arena, possibly burning the ground.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you, ultimeite, but mages aren't crass and we took battles seriously. We do like to think before we act." Selena yelled in response.

It did take her some time but now Selena can actually say that the battle—her battle—has begun.

SELENA's current stats: HP (D), ATTACK (D), DEFENSE (D), SP. ATTACK (+01), SP. DEFENSE (+01).
*D is for DEFAULT.

SELENA uses INFERNO on manofsteal (Cillian Quinn ).

Having leaped clear of Annie's blade, Gavin has the breathing room to assess the situation before his next attack. The demon mage seems to have dodged as well, but the witch—[break][break]

The witch is capitalizing on the quarrel of the others, safely situated in her tree. The warrior calls this out, suggesting a strategy, and Gavin is quick to jump on the chance to make an ally. He's already been wounded by the demon's fire, and fighting two ranged characters at once spelled certain distaster.[break][break]

He gives Annie a curt nod just before he's engulfed in flames.[break][break]

Damn it, he was really glad that pain was severely dampened, because this was not his day. Building atop the earlier injuries from Alec, the flames lick his skin and leave a burn behind. Gavin clenches his jaw, feeling his strength falter.[break][break]

Damn mages.[break][break]

"I'm in," he verbalizes, and in a flash he's launching himself toward Selena with both daggers raised. Just as he'd done with Alec, Gavin aims to utilize twineedle in an attempt to poison the blasted witch.[break][break]
