the earthquake hits and it takes a good chunk out of his health. factoring the amount of healing he gets, he can take maybe two or three hits before he needs to fall back and start chugging down potions to ease the healer's job.

it's not only the status effects that's going to make things more troublesome as the battle goes on. their healer's mana pool wouldn't be able to sustain them for so long as well.

"i'm gonna start double strafing! got a hundred arrows left so they won't last long."

a few seconds taken off of dps time was still a few good chunks of damage. he'd rather not take a break like he did earlier, no matter how brief it was. if he can unload all of his arrows before the time where he needs to back off, it'll be ideal.

he weaves in an air slash every so often in between his attacks to maximize dps. a pair of arrows shot twice, air slash, and then another. it's not like he's going to need his mana after this, although he does keep it above a certain threshold for emergencies.

[attr="class","spiral"] EARTHQUAKE proves annoying. Everyone's health decreases by a margin when the attack hits and Fernando keeps an eye on everyone's status. Their warrior sustained the most considering the FLAMETHROWER from earlier while both Rangers only had to deal with a super effective EARTHQUAKE.

Unlike Kyle, Fernando has no way of increasing his DPS. His attack pattern relies on high damage with a decent break between them. At most, he can improve his rotation, attacking the moment his cooldown and animation is over, but otherwise he continues to do what he's been doing. An occasional CHATTER keeps the Garchomp CONFUSED but the AIR SLASHES seem to make it FLINCH less over time.

At least they're whittling it down. They're close to the red zone and Fernando can see the end in sight. Without missing a beat, he fires another CHATTER before sending a friend request to the healer along with a DM.

They're now at the make or break zone. One or two more moves from the ginormous garchomp and they will all soon find themselves respawning at some random kingdom's main square. They cannot afford to throw all their efforts like that.

They all needed to do their last push.

As the blonde ranger continued dealing successive damage, the other one propelled another CHATTER to the enemy, which proved victorious in confusing the enemy. Valerio forced a DRAGON RUSH afterwards, if the status problem was not enough, he just need to buy the others sometime to charge.

His blade connected once more at the beast's flesh, its edge cutting through its belly, powered up by the previous SHIFT GEAR and continuous assault at its core. The target FLINCHED, luckily, and his eyes met with his partymates, waiting for them to deliver their final moves as well before the garchomp attempts another death-dealing blow.

VALERIO's SPEED (+02) and ATTACK (+01) increased.
VALERIO uses DRAGON RUSH.

During a lull in which his character finishes performing the animations of the Life Dew, Florian swipes to accept the friend request and quickly reads the DM.[break][break]

His attention is almost immediately returned to the battle as Valerio manages to flinch the boss and provide the group a much-needed opening to finish it off. Perfect! Grinning, he forgoes further healing of the group in favour of raw damage while the boss is in a vulnerable position.[break][break]

Gripping the staff with both hands, fey energy channels through it and drains the life from the already-ailing boss. Leafae's health bar goes from yellow back into the green; he'd only been taking damage from the earthquakes, after all, and not super-effective damage like the rangers.

kyle has just been mindlessly throwing out attacks and spamming his air slash throughout the battle since he is basically a just a bunch of offensive stats as a glass cannon who only becomes useful as long as he keeps the attacks coming.

one of the attacks, surprisingly, takes the last hit after the boosted damage from daddygamer13 and the super effective hit from leafae, filling the gap with a multitude of hits while they wait for their cooldowns.

"ah. oops. my bad."

valerio had told them to leave the last hit for him, but nothing can be done in the case of an accident. it was a matter of life and death and he would have died from another attack if he didn't end it-- the best excuse he has at that moment. kyle turns his head to fernando, watching him as he starts to wonder how he makes the last post a little bit poggers.

[attr="class","spiral"] Welp. That went easier than expected. Not the boss fight but ensuring that the last hit went to either the healer or the other Ranger. While Fernando has no qualms with group play, the warrior's attitude leaves much to be desired. There's a sense of selfishness in the way Valerio conducts himself, the way he speaks, that's not unlike Silph's own personality. That's why he keeps his guard up and treat him like a worthy adversary.

The minute the system acknowledges that the boss has died and Fernando confirms his own share of the loot, he aims his pistol at Valerio's backside. He leaves the party and pulls the trigger, sending a ZAP CANNON toward him. Thankfully, their warrior had taken the brunt of the damage, having been the one to handle the FLAMETHROWER, which should make him easy pickings.

The friend request toward Florian earlier had been to send him a DM to keep out of this. Fernando's target is singular and he has no intention of turning this into a two versus one, if he can help it. That's why he sends a small tip of MC along with his DM, a small bribe to keep him out.

The battle was long gone when Valerio caused the boss to FLINCH, which meant he knew it's either of the two rangers who would deliver the final blow to the dragon. He just did not expect it to be the blonde.

And so when his eyes trailed from the yellow-haired ranger to the other, the anticipated sharp and swift blow from his pistol was aiming at his direction, which prompted him to counter as well.

"Ha, you think I came all this way to just die?" Valerio gloated as he prepared another DRAGON RUSH. Before leaping, he instructed the leafae to heal him once more, hoping he will come to his side of the battle. "Elf, heal me."

With heightened speed and power, Valerio's flared up avatar rushed into the ranger with his sword leading the way, accepting the immobilizing ZAP CANNON and hoping not to be paralyzed in the midst of his assault.

Here's the thing about Florian: he's naive, and wants to believe the best in people. The message had confused him, 'stay out of it, don't heal after the boss', but he'd assumed that there was something about the game that he didn't know. Some sort of secret![break][break]

So when the blond ranger last-hits the boss, he's not immediately suspicious. It's not until the other ranger levels his pistol at their tank and suddenly drops out of the party that Florian clues in to what it had all meant, and to the fact that this was about to go very, very wrong. There's a soft noise of surprise from his mic before he mutes it, struggling with how to handle the sudden turn of events.[break][break]

It's Valerio's command that snaps him back into it. He unmutes.[break][break]

"Y-Yeah, OK! What the heck is wrong with you two?"[break][break]

The 'tip' had apparently been more of a bribe. He hadn't dropped from the party himself, and still doesn't, stepping back to Valerio's side in a show of silent support. These were skilled players and it might mean his death and the forfeit of all the hard-won loot they'd gained, but it wasn't about the money or the drops for Florian. It was the principle of the damn thing![break][break]

He slams his staff against the ground with more force than usual, life dew restoring a quarter of the warrior's total health. It wasn't much, but he hoped the man's tanky build would hold out.[break][break]

A glittering pink aura flashes around the elfin figure as his Healer ability activates, attempting to rid the party of status effects.

it was only normal for the fighter to turn on fernando. it wasn't normal for the healer to turn against both fernando and him. kyle furrows his brows as he stares at his avatar.

"you two? i haven't even done anything."

while he was indeed associated with the other ranger, they met up in the party through the party search instead of joining together. on the flip side, he was aware of what fernando was going to do even before things went down.

"if it's about the last hit, i only got it since you hit it with a super effective move at a critical health. it's not like i have the burst to steal it with my build."

if there's one thing kyle is good at, it's making excuses if he really tries his best. what he says this time, however, were facts that coincided with his intention of getting heat out of him.

"if you're going to start to argue and fight, i'm staying out."

kyle leaves the party and goes to stealth with phantom force. it was nice not being able to use it for the rest of their run due to the structure of their party, and this was the only instance he gets to show it to his party.

eventually, he disappears from everyone else's minimap.

[attr="class","spiral"] The Warrior is hit by the ZAP CANNON but that does little to faze him. He continues to charge forward with DRAGON RUSH and Fernando makes no attempt to dodge. He's busy preparing his next attack and considering the amount of damage Valerio took, it should be an easy game of attrition in Fernando's favor. But that's under the faulty assumption that Florian will remain neutral.

So when he doesn't, Fernando's frustration boils in the same manner that his health bar does. "Stay out of this healer! Unless you're here for the PK Revenge bounty on his head, this doesn't concern you." Fernando loads his CHATTER ammo and leaps back a few paces. He lines his next shot up and continues to fire it at Valerio.

Kyle leaving is unfortunate but also planned. They'll walk of here with a decent amount of loot regardless of the outcome. Fernando skipping his own drops leaves everyone else in the party a little richer, having long anticipated that there's a real possibility that he'll die and lose his own loot should he accept too much fodder.

Valerio seemed pleased at the fact with leafae siding with him and the blonde ranger leaving the battlefield. Now it's only him and his adversary, with the help of the elf healer.

"Now, now. Don't be scared just because you're all alone now." Receiving another bullet from the ranger, the warrior endured the CHATTER and its confusing effect in favor of rushing him with METEOR MASH. He trusted the healer to support him all the way. "You know you brought this upon yourself, FERNANDO SILPH."

As the warrior pounced at his opponent, he continued eyeing leafae for support. "Get me through this and I'll bring us out of here with loots the size of that giga-sized garchomp."

The blonde ranger rightfully calls him out for his misdirected frustrations, and Florian's cheeks redden in reality. Leafae simply stands idle between the activation of his abilities, blinking his multi-coloured eyes.[break][break]

"Ah, you are right, I'm sorry." Frustration still spikes in his tone, though it's no longer directed at the ranger. When Florian glances around to look at the other, he sees that he's disappeared from both the party and the map. Assuming him to have logged out, Florian is quick to redirect his attention to their fight. It was now a 2v1, much more advantageous for the warrior.[break][break]

Barcode tells him to stay out of it, and Florian is indignant.[break][break]

"You let him carry you through the dungeon and then attacked him! That concerns me!"[break][break]

It's just a video game, but Florian can't stand rude people or opportunists that took advantage of others![break][break]

The warrior is still missing a decent chunk of his health, so Florian continues to focus on healing. He taps his staff against the ground, casting another shower of life dew over the pair of them. His aura flashes pink, this time flashing twice in an attempt to rid Valerio of the punishing conditions.

[attr="class","spiral"] The longer they skirmish the more the battle becomes an uphill battle. The most he can hope for is to flee but greed temps him with the possibility of snagging a kill. Maybe if he tags the healer with enough status conditions he'll be able to kill one before escaping.

Maybe.

It's a big maybe that reliant on good luck rather than hard numbers and that makes it unappealing. Only avarice eggs him to consider it but when Valerio doesn't back down, turning tail becomes more appealing. The match hinges on Florian and their conversation points toward him being what Fernando despises most: a carebear.

"Carry shit! The reason you attacked so much for a healer was because none of those monsters could attack back." His implication is that the true carry was the tangible forms of CC held between both rangers. Valerio certain did play the tank against the boss but Fernando will be quick to point out that any warrior would have sufficed.

"This is why bounty hunting in games is so fucking hard. It's like trying to reason with a Rocket sympathizer." Fernando grunts in frustration and tries to maintain distance. Valerio approaches with a METEOR MASH and Fernando continues to leap backwards as the hit connects and sends him reeling back even further.

Maybe there's a chance. Draw Valerio away from the healer by keeping distance. Either the healer has to follow and he can lead them into a goose chase or the warrior stays with the healer and he escapes scott free.

Fernando lines up an AIR SLASH and fires it before making a mad dash back.

Valerio witnessed the battle evolve into an actual 2V1, with leafae’s words taunting the already exasperated ranger who have sent the warrior a gush of AIR SLASH.

His attempts to kill him, however, were rendered useless with the healer’s LIFE DEW perpetually sustaining his health bar. The ability, however, was still a failure and left Valerio struggling with the spam of status conditions. Now, he knew the only option left for FERNANDO SILPH , if he was still unaffected by the fatigue of conquering the 99 floors of the Infinite Tower or the arduous task of killing its mega-evolved final boss, was to escape the dungeon with all the loots he could save or face the wrath of two dungeon capturers who would be happy to take him down for extra pay.

“You do realize that it was what saved all of us from being roasted from the boss battle, right? And both of you rangers were f*cking useless.”

Valerio would not just let him talk leafae down like that. With his blade still glistening with silver glow from his recent attack, the warrior attempted another METEOR MASH, hoping the paralysis and confusion would not hit him just yet.
