Gavin was bitter, but not so bitter than he couldn't admit to another's strengths. The mages would have struggled much harder against the melee duo if they hadn't decided to team up against them, but even still...[break][break]

Having respawned in a city in Valora, Gavin takes the time while shopping around the vendors to send both friend requests and messages to each of the other players involved in the PvP. The mages (black_heart32 and selenatheteenagewitch) received a near-identical message that read something along the lines of: 'u suck but also if u need that dumb farfetch'd quest meet me @ valora b/c i'm sick of solo hunting'.[break][break]

The warrior (ultimeite) receives a friendlier: 'i hit up those mages to kill some farfetch'd for that leek bullshit if u wanna join? meet @ valora'[break][break]

He sharpens his daggers, stocks up on potions, and purchases his newest move slot from the trainer before catching a Corviknight flight into the deep wilds. The Farfetch'd here were easier pickings for high-level players willing to team up and fight off the other players in the area.[break][break]

Maybe he'd finally find one of those stupid large leeks.

Distant yelling was the first sign that Annie was one step ahead of him. Should the rogue turn towards the source of the noise, he’d see a dozen Farfetch’d down to their last sliver of health, all desperately fleeing the scene. The yelling, of course, came from the young warrior, set in scaring them into one neat line.

She leapt into the air, twirling as she charged her blade, so that her Breaking Swipe could cleave through all of them in one blow. Floating lines of text confirmed the kill, her EXP, and- “Not a single Large Leek! Are you kidding me?!” It was fortunate that her sword couldn’t stab her; instead, the usual bout of frustrated hail-flailing forced the blade to phase through her head and body. “Dude, we’re gonna be here forever,” she called. Had she known that the man was there all along, or was she that good at playing things cool?

She’d never tell.

Alec had received a not-so-friendly invite from manofsteel. The one thing Alec could think of when Alec read the message was 'Sore Loser, Much?' After all, it was just a game. Some just happen to play it better than others. If he were to keep trying, than perhaps the rogue would be more of a challenge. Alec believed that, not as a matter of opinion, but rather factual. At any rate, Alec quickly logged in, enter the non-PK Zone and then had quickly beamed himself over to the Kingdom of Valora where they would meet once again. [break][break]

Alec had figured Annie would be there, as well as Selena. Hopefully the other Mage was already there. It'd be rather awkward for him to stand there and wait for the other Mage to arrive while having dirty looks shot at him constantly. Annie may have not been so bad. The demon mage knew in real life as well as Patrick, whom Alec believed to be the Rogue, since his appearance seemed to be exactly the same. Alec wondered if manofsteel actually knew who the Demon mage was? After all, After all, Alec's appeared to have the same face, just different bodily characteristic arranging from his hair and eye color, to his demonic look features - including his tail.[break][break]

Alec had finally arrived, hearing Annie close by about having no luck. The Demon Mage had taken that he had arrived on time. He did not see Selena unfortunately, Alec had silenced his mic and said, ~~"great."~~ in a bland as well as sarcastic tone of voice, mainly due to the Rogue. He then turned his mic back on and said to the Rogue and Samurai, "So, no luck? Alec asked, looking at the two of them, being somewhat nice. If they would attempt to do the same, then so would he. After all, it really was just a game meant to be fun, and so far, it was.[break][break]

Fortunately, the rogue isn't the only one who can show off his skills to the familiar crowd. Running a few missions here and there, Selena earned enough metal coats to afford upgrading her character with two more moves in her arsenal. Otherwise, she would not have joined the mission since it's practically impossible to look for those large leeks and she didn't afford the time or else she'd be cramming her real-life paper works.

But she did so, and by the time the female mage reached the clearing in the Valoran Wilds, the three players were there. She returned their expecting looks with a bright smile. It's as if the battle royale didn't happen at all.

"Heyyyy! So, what did I miss?"

Gavin employs a risky strategy: a gaggle of angry Farfetch'd waddle after the rogue with angry quarks, their health bars flashing purple and slowly ticking down. Each time he spots a new span within his range, Gavin fires off twineedles until he gets it poisoned, kiting the group around until they expire, one by one, from the deadly status effect he'd imposed upon them.[break][break]

It relied on knowing when to fire off a quick parting shot in order to get some distance, but he'd already farmed these things for hours before accepting the PvP request from the others. He's long since reached his quota of regular leeks.[break][break]

Leeks litter the ground in a haphazard trail following the rogue, and he calls out to the others, "If any of you are missing regular leeks, grab them before they despawn."[break][break]

He's missing a sliver of health from an earlier blow, and chucks a dagger at one of the birds. It leeches life as it embeds itself in bloodied feathers, and Gavin's health bar fills back up.[break][break]

"No luck," he confirms to the demon. "You haven't missed much, witch, the drop rate for these stupid birds is ridiculous."[break][break]

Seriously, who decided 0.1% was a good idea? And you needed three of them!

Annie didn’t need to be told twice. Should any of them look her way, they’d see the girl hunched over, wiggly fingers hovering over leftover leeks. “What? If I don’t take them, somebody else will.” And so she claimed a few for herself, leaving the rest for the new arrivals on the scene. “I’ve found one. One damn oversized leek. I don’t even remember why we need these. What could anybody, anywhere need that many vegetables for? Where do the Farfetch’d even get them from? Are they born with them? Do they have a supply cave? Can we raid the supply cave?”

Grinding had left the child with a lot of time to think, and not enough people to voice those thoughts to. Fortunately, eventually, her train of thought led somewhere more productive. “Anyway. Stuff like this can only get done faster with numbers. The mages can take out bigger groups faster, because why else would you pick that class, but then there’s the loot left behind.” She gestured to the leeks laying on the ground – or the spot where they would have been. If the others hadn’t claimed them, other players swooped in like the Mandibuzz they were. “For some reason, specifically for this quest, they’re free pickings after a few seconds. Trust me, I know.” There’s a bitter edge to her voice, and considering that they’re in a PK zone, it isn’t hard to guess how stealing ended.

Alec had been attacked by the Farfetch'd in no time at all, however with a flick of his wand, they were all rapidly frozen in place by his Freeze Dry Alec figured due to what Annie had said, that the leeks that would drop wouldn't disappear all to quickly, which was a good thing because another hoard of Farfetch'd lunged at him. They too had met the same fate as the other small hoard. After quickly counting the normal leeks that had fallen from each spawn, Alec had obtained a total of ten normal leeks from both hoards. [break][break]

When he realized that they were normal leeks, Alec had said to manofsteel, "I see what you mean. Plus not to mention, there could be other groups nearby who are doing the same quest. They could try and steal our leaks, so we should keep an eye out for them if they decide to try and swipe our own leeks." Alec had said, making sure the three members of his group had heard him, but then again, they more than likely were already aware of this. But, the problem with that was that these players could possibly be stronger than them. Either that, or of equal footing, which would still present a problem. [break][break]

The reason why he had said that was because Annie did strike up a point. "If someone decides to do that, I suggest we deal with them quickly and continue searching for the large leeks." Alec had said. Another Farfetch'd had then appeared, once again attacking the Demon Mage head-on. Alec had readied a Shell Trap spell, which had exploded the Pokemon into nothing the moment Alec was struck. The small Dull pain was there, however, he was satisfied to know that don't really do that much damage. That meant his Shell Trap would be rather useful as well when taking care of the birds. Alec had picked up the lucky leek, making that eleven total now. [break][break]

The thing with mages is that they rely on mana to survive. And if by default, the mages decided to strike with their weapons without the aid of their type moves, the impact would not be as much as the warrior's or the brawler's. But they could not just use their attacks for a successive amount of time: they needed their move points to regenerate.

And that it is why partially, Selena's regretting her decision to not add multi-target attacks to her character. It would have been useful for quests like these. Guess she just needed to play smart, what she would say.

Gavin suggested the group has just started, but it seemed like a few of them were already half-way, if not completed, the required leek count. As the three were busy farming for leeks already, the witch employed a familiar move. CALM MIND. "It would be easier if I OHKO these ducks so please, don't mind me." She would, however, hold unto those leeks that already graced the virtual ground and had a timer above them. Better snatch them before other parties do.

"I... don't think they have a supply cave here." Selena fed Annie's ramblings. "But they are based on real-life farfetch'ds so, yeah, they do have leeks. And I don't know why." But Selena did. At least from the perspecive of a hunter-slash-cook who made farfetch'd soups in the wild, the leeks it held on added much flavor to the duck stock.

After buffing up, the witch started scourging through the flock to earn her own stock of common leeks. It's still a long way before she stumble upon two large ones.

She then turned to Alec, a mad grin forming on her face.

"When you say 'deal' with them, are you mean what I'm thinking?"

"Count yourself lucky," Gavin drawls, his avatar turning to face Ultimeite. "I haven't found a single one, and I've had this quest clogging up my log for hours."[break][break]

Working for Rocket meant that he kept strange hours, leaving him stretches of time perfect for a long gaming session like this one had been. Unfortunately, he'd spent most of that time trying to find a virtual vegetable, which wasn't exactly his idea of fun.[break][break]

It was slightly less insufferable with company.[break][break]

"Can't say I've ever looked into the biology of a Farfetch'd, and I doubt they went super in-depth with looking into it for basic mobs."[break][break]

This game was innovative in a lot of ways, so Gavin's certain they must have cut corners in others.[break][break]

Flipping his daggers around, Gavin spins the emote wheel and his avatar adopts a devilish grin. "Oh, I'd love to see them try." An idea dawns on him then, and he laughs. "Even better: we could do the stealing. What're they gonna do against four of us?"

Annie seemed unconvinced by Selena’s words. “Even by Pokemon standards, being born with a vegetable doesn’t sound right. I’m putting ‘finding the supply cave’ on my list of things to do. Just you wait. I bet the first person to find a Dracozolt was called crazy too, until everybody else found them.” Her character paused and shook her head. There was probably something more important to focus on.

Right. The ducks. Auto-attacks allowed her to mindlessly cleave through whatever dared cross her path while she spoke, picking up the Leek items without a second thought. “Yeah, I think I’ll pass on that one for now. People know this face outside of the game! It’s a bit too early for me to get a reputation as a thug with no honour. No offense.” Leek.

“I had something else in mind. Alec had grinned at Selena's question and was about to speak, however Annie had spoke up. Alec put a hand to his face, while shooting ice spells hitting duck after duck, thinking of what the Samurai had said. "She does have a point. more than one actually. No one would think twice about attacking a group of four, and even if they did, they would get killed anyways," The demon mage said, finally coming to terms with Annie. It wasn't all that much fun, but it was still a pretty solid way of getting the leeks.

Alec had paused for a moment, as more ducks lunged at him to attack, Alec rolled out of the way, blasting them with Auto-Attacks. "I'm down for anything really. It's not like we won't complete the mission," Alec had said. He had began picking up the leeks and noticed one was larger than the other one. "That makes seventeen regular leeks and one large leek for me," Alec had announced nonchalantly, opening up his inventory and putting them all in the key items slots. [break][break]

Alec had also known people who were playing this game that he knew in real life. He was also a Gym Leader too, and well, so he did have to keep that mind, but he figured it was a game too. It wasn't like he was actually hurting people. Yeah the damage system had gave them a dull pain when injured, but other than that, the pain was pretty bearable. [break][break]

And with her sheer luck, after a few sparks from her INFERNO, the witch came across the rare loot everyone's too eager to find. All eyes were set on the lady, even the ones from what she estimated 30 feet away from their marked territory, but the party she's with imposed a sinister presence. They wouldn't dare to challenge them for the large leek and drop all their loots, at least for now.

Selena knew the moment she got the second one, it will be a lot more difficult finding the last drop. Video games are just built that way. Something about repeating data on the algorithms and other stuff.

"Okay, new strategy. We need ultimeite's plan to work. However...." The female mage addressed the rest of the crew, her hands pulling at manofsteal's and black_heart32's while calling for the warrior to follow. Her eyes led them to the other players half-busy farming in the wilds and half-busy plotting against their team. "These people wouldn't just let us steal their spawns. We need a hybrid of both of your plans."

Spotting a large leek that had dropped near the feet of a duo of healers, Gavin closes the distance and positions himself between the pair and their prize. His grin is feral and unsympathetic. Their grass and fairy attacks prove ineffective against the poison-type rogue, and the big leek is his.[break][break]

"Go farm in Aurora if you don't want people stealing your shit," is his cold advice over the comm before he jumps back to rejoin his party. One down, two to go.[break][break]

"I can fend off other players," he offers. "They get within my range, they're Shadow Tagged and good as dead."

Annie couldn’t say that she approved of the thievery, but he wasn’t wrong. Everybody knew the risks when they walked into Ransei’s riskier half, them included. “We’ll move as a pack, then. Getting the Farfetch’d together should be easy. They’re not very smart, so we can keep out eyes peeled for anybody getting too close.” She drew her sword, pointing it straight ahead. There was nobody to direct it at, but her raised voice quickly found an audience in distant players. “We’ll let them know that if anybody comes near the Ultimeite Squad, we’ll kick them right back to the Safe Zone!”

A few annoyed emotes popped up, but the message was clear. Even the pair Gavin had stolen from understood that their leek-hunting time had come to an abrupt end. Deeming the area free of major threads, the warrior got to work. A move like Breaking Swipe made getting the attention of several birds simple. Two, five, eight, eleven of them followed as she rushed around, never stopping long enough to let an auto-attack hamper her efforts. The flock would increase with every swipe, and with the immunity their herd provided, it would quickly reach ridiculous levels of furious flapping.
