During character select, the move FREEZE-DRY was indicated to be super-effective against water-type Pokemon. It had been the obvious choice for Stormy to pick as a fire-mage. What better way to deal with water-types and ground-types that threatened her than by just.. freezing them in place?[break][break]

Of course, the whole freezing thing was negated by her SHEER FORCE ability, but it was still effective. As long as she hit harder, she didn't really worry too much about the status effects.[break][break]

And it's because of this realization and a read-through of her class manual that she arrived in Fontaine's wilds in order to prepare for a solo-training session. She was keen to test out her FREEZE-DRY spell against any water-type minions that she might bump into.

There it is, the noise she's been waiting for. Stormy can hear the subtle scritch scratch of feet racing across the sand. It's coming directly for her and she gasps as the Krabby comes into view. It pinches its claws together aggressively but she can't help but look down on it with disgust.[break][break]

"Pathetic, time to die."[break][break]

Of course, the first time she blasts it with FREEZE-DRY it blocks it expertly with a PROTECT. The ice-type move glances off it's shiny shell and into the sand, fizzling into nothing. Irritated, Stormy is unprepared due to her ego for the BUBBLE BEAM that hits her full in the face. [break][break]

Gasping and growling, the fire-mage finishes the little devil with another SHEER FORCED FREEZE-DRY. It succumbs to its fate quickly.

The Krabby disappears in a dazzling display of pixels, rewarding her with a tiny amount of experience. What remains of the monster is a single metal coat and a unicorn horn, both of which she crouches down to grab.[break][break]

The unicorn horn rolls in her hand momentarily before she uses her HUD to put it into her inventory. As soon as it disappears, Stormy looks up to see another creature appear - this one reminding her immediately of Sol back home. The Castform has already begun to perform a RAIN DANCE, and, within a matter of seconds, Stormy is soaked to the bone.[break][break]

But before it could hit her full-force with a HYDRO PUMP, Stormy defends herself with quick reflexes using another FREEZE-DRY. The blast of ice turns the HYDRO PUMP to ice fragments. The explosion is blinding and Stormy gasps as ice slices against her avatar's cheek. [break][break]

But the damage is done and the Castform does not retaliate. So far, so good.

The final boss arrives but it's unceremonious in it's approach. Stormy was expecting something bigger and badder, but what did she expect from the land of water? There's a reason she refused to spec into that typing.[break][break]

On top of the rain pouring from the sky, she's met with a WATER SPOUT that soaks her even further. Hair falls in front of her face, weighted down by the water. Droplets spill down her face and she chokes, spitting her own spout of water. Were they trying to drown her?[break][break]

One last FREEZE-DRY hits her target, but the Wailmer's blubberous body takes the hit without a hitch. So, while the Pokemon DIVES beneath the surface of the water to surprise attack her, Stormy takes the time to CALM MIND so that she might be abble to hit the Pokemon even harder.[break][break]

The dive knocks her right off of her feet, and Stormy brushes more hair out of her face. Angry now, she blasts the baby whale with a last ditch blast of her only ice-spell, watching as the monster explodes.[break][break]

"Finally."
