emma didn't strike him as the gaming type--to tell the truth, there'd been a point where marcel couldn't imagine the woman in any mundane scenario--but that hadn't stopped him from signing her up. he'd had it all ready, giving her as little time to reconsider her decision as he could manage. now she was logged in there was no backing out!

The virtual world is bright and cheery, full of life and sounds and mimicry of the real world. It's trying too hard to be fantastical, and it's blinding.[break][break]

But when she begrudgingly presses enter on her login information, information that, apparently, Marcel had been kind enough to set up for her, she was cast into the realm of B&B. She quickly discovered that her skin was no longer soft and smooth. Her fingers moved clumsily, like they were attached to a mechanical system that she hadn't quite gotten the hang of. When Marcel speaks, she's busy examining the length of each finger, flexing and curling them curiously.[break][break]

And then she glances up at her friend, following him to the river and she quickly discovers that her feminine features are gone. She looks like a robot, mechanical but humanoid. What did they call that? She wasn't familiar with games.[break][break]

Her face remains placid and unchanging even despite the shock that settles in the pit of her stomach. She looked.. vastly different, and yet it felt so real.[break][break]

"Hmm.."[break][break]

A hand raises to her cheek.

"cool, right?" he laughs. marcel hadn't been sure of what class to pick for her, eventually deciding on something that seemed cool enough for emma's tastes, but useful to him above all.

if he was going to force her to play this game, he might as well make sure she was useful at the very least.

looking around the field, he sees a free dummy nearby. "why don't you try attacking that?" he says as he gestures to it, "get used to the controls."

When she drops her hand, the subtle sound of metal scraping from her fingertips to her cheek could be heard. It's bizarre.[break][break]

Marcel laughs and she turns towards him, blinking. It's then that she also realises she's tall, taller than her real form. She's nearly as tall if not taller than Marcel's avatar. Interesting.[break][break]

It soon occurs to her that the pair of them are mostly alone. The rest of the newbies are gathered around the main area, Marcel must have brought the two of them away from the crowd. [break][break]

He mentions trying out the controls and she glances at the dummy he's referring to. All of a sudden, brass knuckles appear on her hands and she curls her fingers tighter as she raises them into her view. She squeezes so tight she can hear the metal grinding together.[break][break]

One more look is given to Marcel before she charges the dummy, her fists connecting with it's punching bag-like surface. It wobbles back towards her and she stops it with one hand. [break][break]

"Interesting."[break][break]

Even her voice sounds strange.

[attr="class","mthread"][attr="class","healer"]he's used enough to the game that her strength doesn't catch him entirely off guard. marcel could see the appeal of such games--it must be an ego boost to be able to act stronger than you were. honestly, he just thought emma would appreciate being to attack things without any of the real-world repercussions. a stress reliever.

moving to stand beside her, he crosses his arms at her nonchalant reaction. "seriously? that's it?" he sighs--of course it was, this was emma he was dealing with. "even you have to admit being a cyborg's pretty damn cool."

Her elbow comes back, but her fist still remains poised to strike. It takes a moment for her avatar to return to an idle state, to snap out of her fevered aggression. But when she does, she hears Marcel.. chastising her?[break][break]

The cyborg drops her shoulder to study Marcel's face - only to see that he's covered his eyes with a mask of some sort. It's hard to study an expression she can't read.[break][break]

"I'm surprised, I suppose. Why did you choose.. this? I don't even look like myself. Was that intentional?"[break][break]

She squints at him because she can't determine if Marcel looks like Marcel under all of that.. pretty.[break][break]

She flattens her hand and extends it toward her partner, the back of her hand facing up to more accurately display her brass knuckles.[break][break]

"And these? Where's my gun?"

"thought it'd be a bit of fun." besides, with emma's history (and present, for that matter), it was probably best to avoid having an avatar which resembled her too closely. marcel had adopted a similar caution for himself--it was always better to be safe than sorry.

as emma asks more questions he tries to recall the details of her subclass. "oh, actually," he moves to take hold of her wrist but--since it's emma--stops himself. "open up your hand." he stretches out his fingers to demonstrate. "i think you can shoot stuff out your palm."

She could see understand his reasoning and had accepted it without further thought. Besides, she had already grown accustomed to her new appearance, perhaps even liked it. [break][break]

There is a moment, however brief, where Emma hesitated to pull her hand away when Marcel reaches for her wrist. Her eyes watch his hand as he demonstrates what he'd like from her, and she turns her palm right side up, stretching her fingers. [break][break]

From what she can tell, there's some sort of opening in the palm of her hand. It's closed when she examines it, but she looks back up to the dummy and aims.[break][break]

The AURA SPHERE blasts the dummy right off its pedestal, and it tumbles into the river at the bottom of the bank. [break][break]

Emma smiles.

[attr="class","mthread"][attr="class","healer"]"woah." though his expression is hidden beneath the mask, marcel's visibly surprised by the power of emma's attack, almost moving to take a step back. "this is great!" emma's avatar was perfect to support his own--without any attack moves, he often relied on others who packed enough punch for them both. he supposes he shouldn't be surprised, given his heavy part in building her character, but it was different to seeing it in action.

"well," he claps his hands together, ",seems like you've gotten the hang of things." he begins to walk off the training field, expecting emma to follow. "there are some mission i've been meaning to do for a while now..." the man proceeds to talk in length about his plans for the day which held a focused efficiency not dissimilar to the strategies he created at rocket.
[break][break]though he was loathe to admit it, marcel had well and truly been sucked into the game.
