Emma didn't have anything to prove, and yet she had grown obsessed with the PVP arena in Pugilis. It was inevitable that she would jump on the opportunity to corner some unsuspecting player as a result of a new quest opportunity. Not only would it reward her experience, it would award her bonus MC to upgrade her armor further.[break][break]

It seemed, however, that her reputation had preceded her to some extent. Though it was more than likely the fact that she looked downright terrifying.[break][break]

There was a bonus award, or maybe brownie points, for agreeing to shirk their weapons and abilities in favor of merely using only auto attacks using the most basic weapon in the game: her fists. This seemed redundant to her considering she basically already attacked with her bare hands. It felt strange to not be clenching her knuckle-dusters between her fingers, but she was virtually indifferent.[break][break]

Instead, she finds herself waiting impatiently in the arena, punching the air and preparing for whoever might have the balls to challenge her.

[attr="class","mthread"][attr="class","healer"]marcel was not one to hang around the pvp area--as a healer, his talents lay solely in support. he couldn't well heal a player to death, could he? still, he's seen emma was in the area and decided to drop by, maybe ask if she wanted to complete some quests if whatever fight she'd gotten caught in had reached its conclusions.

he's surprised to to see her alone, but it seems as if she's expected someone. it wouldn't do any harm to talk to her in the meantime "who you waiting for?" he says as he walks over.

Something moves to her left and she doesn't think to listen before lashing out. It's fair game to any who take a step in the ring, and unfortunately even Marcel is no exception.[break][break]

Except it seems that his voice causes her to freeze, her closed fist stopping a hairsbreadth from his face. Confusion paints her face in an expression quite unlike her, and she remains frozen in her aggressive stance.[break][break]

"W-what are you doing here? This is an arena, a competition. I'm.. waiting for you, I guess."[break][break]

The announcer is straight to the point, announcing the player starless as gray's newest opponent. Emma pulls back, visibly uncomfortable or uncertain about the situation. [break][break]

But the audience is chanting for a fight, mocking the poor little healer.

a voice overhead cuts off his thoughts. it takes him a moment to process what it's saying, but once he does he finally realises the situation he's gotten himself in. "shit." he pales as he stares at emma.

the audience cries out the obvious. it was a no contest, really--emma was a brawler for fucks sake, close combat was her speciality. his voice comes out audibly strained as he speaks, "you've got to be kidding me.."

He's shocked and she can't blame him, even as she pulls her hand away and disbelief continues to turn her insides into mush. She had never meant -- never wanted to hurt him.[break][break]

The announcer has caused his face to pale and she can see that even with the mask. Her heart slams in her chest but it feels like it's slow motion, like she's watching herself from a distance.[break][break]

Emma glances over her shoulder at the audience as they chant and cause an uproar. They wanted a fight, they were begging for it. She detects the strain in Marcel's voice because it's obvious, and she turns back to face him. Her own face is contorted in some sort of strained expression.[break][break]

"Hit me. Just get it over with and hit me."
