It's been a long time since she'd visited. Pokemon weren't important to her, she wasn't a trainer. She had Pokemon, but her relationship with them was anything but buddy-buddy.[break][break]

That is... until she had died in a nightmare with Lycanroc by her side. He had been faithful even in a dream and she couldn't shake that.[break][break]

So she had gone a little soft, willing to waste some time in the safari looking for more faithful young puppies to surround herself with.

Something attaches itself to the back of her cloak and she finds herself rooted to the spot as tiny teeth tear and shred the soft fabric. [break][break]

"You little--"[break][break]

With a well-aimed kick, the woman's foot connects with the Gible's nose and it lets go and tumbles backward. Emma snaps her cloak closer to her and scowls at the holes in it before continuing on without the baby dragon. She had no patience for fools.[break][break]

Emma steps lightly, her shadow being filled with red eyes and a heavy pant as her Lycanroc follows loosely behind. Whenever she stops, he does too, but his eyes are always trained on her. Sometimes both of their attention slides as noises in the brush tug them away from the beaten path.[break][break]

But then a yelp sounds and a territorial and terrified puppy Pokemon appears out of nowhere. Its teeth light up with electricity as he sinks his teeth into her pantleg. He knicks her skin through the fabric of her clothing and she gasps, looking down as blood seeps through. The puppy's growls are more like squeaks as he holds on tight, unrelenting. [break][break]

The electricity of the THUNDER FANG pulses up her leg and causes her discomfort, and she reaches down with viper-like reflexes to grasp the puppy by the scruff. His rocky mane scratches and bruises her skin but she holds fast, eyes narrowed and dark as she looks into the puppy's eyes. She can see the fear but she can also see the determination and the bravery despite it.[break][break]

"Never do that again."[break][break]

The Rockruff's growls turn to quiet whimpers as Emma's grip loosens and she taps the Pokemon with one of the four safari balls given to her.[break][break]

The Rockruff's Pokeball dings in a successful capture and the woman tucks it away. Her own Lycanroc approaches, sniffing quietly at the specks of blood that had seeped through her clothing. With a wave of her hand, the woman dismisses his concern and moves forward.[break][break]

Overhead she can hear the cries of Rookidee but she gives them no attention. Three more safari balls remain on her person and she has no intention of capturing another flying type. Not unless there's a good reason for it.[break][break]

Every once in a while Hades stops to smell the air, his nose twitching as his body stiffens. Emma stops with him on occasion, gazing into the shadows that he seems so entranced by. [break][break]

Emma continues on her way, virtually indifferent and appearing bored. Her eyes are sharp as they scan the area but she finds nothing of interest but a sun-bathing Dunsparce. The creature snore soundly and she makes her way past it quietly.[break][break]

It does not stir and so she makes no effort to interfere with it. Lycanroc follows her lead, turning his attention away from the wild Pokemon.

Overhead, a small flock of noisy Starly fly. They shed some feathers and one gets tucked away in Emma's dark hair. She idly picks it out and plays with it, allowing her fingers to brush the spine from the bottom up.[break][break]

But the Starly move on and the Lycanroc lingers - it isn't what they're looking for.

There appears to be a casualty in the safari zone. It's unclear from Emma's point of view if it's accidental or environmental, but she sidesteps a pile of deflated jelly. Whatever it had been, it was no longer. Emma makes her disgust apparent in the crinkle of her nose.[break][break]

Even Hades turns his nose up at the potential meal. He sneezes as he makes his way past, scuffing the grass to cover the mess behind him.
