Stormy's quiet steps, the soft click of her boots come to a halt when he answers her. What feels like ice trickles down her spine and she feels dread sink into the tips of her fingers. She releases Alex's hand.[break][break]

Jealousy doesn't look good on you, Stormy.[break][break]

"Is that all you discussed?"[break][break]

She had seen the news during the Mantine surfing event. Of course she had, it had been a popular headline for a while, alongside the Tentacruel attack. She hadn't seen them together when she had been there physically, but she had had other things on her mind - things like winning and not drowning.[break][break]

But there had been photos and screen-captures of Olivia kissing him. Of Olivia rescuing him when he'd failed his trick.[break][break]

Stormy doesn't know what to do with her hands.

"we discussed why i left the region and also plans for the future." he furrows his eyebrows, unsure of how to proceed.

"is there something you want to talk about?" he asks.

"no." he wears the same stoic expression he's so used to from business affairs. it's only out of habit that he resorts to it in a tense situation. "i am not in the same position as i was before i left. i need her help like she needed mine." he stands strong, this time not backing down because he knows she's off base. it's a side of her he's rarely seen, but he knows her well enough to deal with it.

His smile melts away into that cold indifference he's so good at. He's resorted to stoicism, indifference, the same blank expression that proves he's hiding something - or unwilling to be honest. She hates it.[break][break]

Stormy is unsatisfied with his answer because it isn't what she wants to hear. [break][break]

"What else?"[break][break]

Her voice rises in her incredulity, her eyes ablaze with disbelief and anger. [break][break]

"You know exactly what I'm talking about. I've seen the photographs, read the articles. You told me you wanted a break, that you weren't sure you could commit to me. But you could commit to her? She kissed you, and the first person you came back to was her. What am I supposed to think?"[break][break]

Warmth spreads through her fingertips and she instinctively removes her gloves. The smell of smoke and burning fabric is muted.

it's not until she takes off her gloves does he notice the oddity in how her gloves smell of smoke. he grows concerned and reaches out for her hands. "what's happening?"

His response doesn't calm her, and it seems pretty apparent that nothing will. He tells her not to let her emotions run rampant but they already are. She's angry, hurt, confused, and its turning her into a monster.[break][break]

Fear paralyzes her as he reaches for her hands. They're hot, hot enough to burn. She appears unaffected but she tries to pull away, to prevent him from getting hurt. She's scared, her hands are shaking.[break][break]

"Not again, please.. please not again."[break][break]

Her temperature is spiking and she feels powerless to stop it. Her emotions are out of control and despite her desire to believe him she finds it hard to. She's been dwelling on this for a long time, too long.[break][break]

"I'm scared."

[attr="class","bodytxtt"]his hands recoil the moment they make contact with hers. his fingertips are sensitive, as if he had just touched a burning pot. "stormy–" he's at a loss for words. panic starts to set in as the gravity of the situation hits him. something's happening to her, something that's out of his control.

people have stopped around them. they stare from a distance, unsure of the situation but still cautious enough not to approach. he hears their muted whispers but he ignores them. instead, he reaches a hand to his belt and calls out his gallade. "take her to the hospital now, galahad," he says, stern with his orders. the gallade nods, and though nothing else is said, he understands the urgency. bracing the heat, galahad places a hand on stormy and attempts to teleport to the nearest hospital.

She grows wild-eyed and horrified as his hands recoil, as he recoils from her. She's realizing that she's dangerous. Perhaps it's her own fear she sees reflected in his eyes, but she misinterprets as his anyway. He opens his mouth and she makes some sort of noise - it's unintelligible and foreign to her.[break][break]

The eyes from the crowd start to dawn on her and she can't shake the feeling that they're watching her... probably because they are. Alexander releases his Gallade and the Pokemon reaches for her and she gasps in horror as her burning skin touches Galahad's.[break][break]

"No!"[break][break]

It's as if she's blinked and the world had changed. The disorientation of it causes her to dry heave as she stumbles away from the psychic-type and onto the pavement. Her knees scrape the coarse ground but she doesn't notice because she's struggling to pull her coat off. [break][break]

"I have to.. breathe. I just have to breathe.."[break][break]

She keeps chanting to herself as she holds her head in her hands. Given that she had collapsed in front of a hospital, it's more than likely someone rushed out for her, but they, too, recoil at how hot she is. Stormy flinches as they discuss what to do, as someone picks up her belongings and she's (from a distance) escorted into the building.[break][break]

"Someone get an ice bath ready, immediately!"

[attr="class","bodytxtt"]as stormy stumbles away from the gallade, he stares at her with almost an unwarranted expression of caution. the psychic-type doubts himself for a moment as he watches people rush out to help her, and it takes all the focus in him before he's finally certain. he senses two auras. the thought lingers in him as he teleports back to where his trainer is.

"is she safe?" the gallade nods before putting a hand on alexander. within seconds, a rip forms in time and space before they're teleported back to the hospital. the sudden shift is familiar but he still experiences slight disorientation. he blinks and shakes it off before making his way into the hospital. he follows the commotion which takes him down a corridor but he's stopped when he tries to enter the room. "i'm with her, please," he says, pleads, but they shake their heads. frustration builds, gallade can read as much, but there's nothing he can do.

all he can do is watch.

It's her fear that drives her off the edge. It's her fear that causes her to lose control.[break][break]

She's plunged into a metal tub full of ice and water. Her clothes cling to her skin and she gasps, teeth chattering, as her vision starts to fade in and out. It's cold and she's in shock as steam rises from the water. Soon, the ice melts and the water is warm - but not boiling.[break][break]

There's a commotion outside and she can hear the muffled conversation of the nurses, the fear in Alexander's voice when he tries to follow her. [break][break]

But exhaustion creeps in and allows her to stay mostly limp and unresponsive while the nurses change her into dry clothes and put her on fluids. It takes about an hour or so for them to allow Alex to visit, as Stormy had insisted she was fine and she didn't want them to call her emergency contacts.[break][break]

As Alexander likely enters, he would overhear her speaking to the nurses.[break][break]

"No, please - I don't want to worry anyone. I'm fine."[break][break]

There's desperation in her tone as she moves to sit up and look attentive.

[attr="class","bodytxtt"]the doors close in front of him, much to his dismay, and he cannot help but feel powerless. frustration looks to get the better of him but he does what stormy couldn't: he calms his emotions. he breathes, sighing, before resigning to the waiting area. as he walks he starts to feel a sudden weight in his mind, something that feels foreign yet familiar. he turns to gallade and realizing what needs to be done, he focuses. the weight turns into a feeling, and from that, an understanding.

an hour passes before he's allowed to see her. he stands idle by the side of the door just watching and listening to stormy's interaction with the nurse. only when the nurse leaves does he enter, nodding his gratitude in passing. he wears his true expression of concern and worry as he stands there with his arms crossed. no smile graces his features this time.

"what was that?"

Stormy reluctantly reclines into her uncomfortable hospital bed, blowing a long and exaggerated sigh from deep in her chest. Despite the tug of exhaustion that begs to steal her away, she fights it. She wants to get out of there.[break][break]

The door doesn't latch closed and it draws her attention as Alexander passes the nurse. Guilt clouds her thoughts and she sits stiffly when he approaches, making it apparent that she doesn't want to touch him.[break][break]

He wears a look of concern but his arms are crossed. Another pang of guilt follows as a result of her own overthinking.[break][break]

"It was nothing. I'm sorry for hurting you."

[attr="class","bodytxtt"]her answer does nothing for him. he sighs, resigning to the chair next to her bed. he props his elbows on his knees and leans forward, using them to support his weight. he looks up at her past strands of his hair. "you didn't hurt me," he says, though he still feels the burns on his fingertips. they remain sensitive to the touch.

he wants to pry his eyes away but he holds strong and maintains his gaze on her. he wants the truth and she's not giving it to him. "that was not nothing. you were burning hot to the touch, stormy. the doctors said they have never seen anything like it." he keeps his voice low, mindful of their presence in the hospital. if anyone is familiar with the levels of secrecy, it would be him.

silence looks to envelop them as he ponders on what gallade had showed him. his brows furrow ever so slightly as he questions, "galahad showed me what he felt." he lowers his voice for the following question, "what's inside of you?"
