There's always a follow-up to Fernando's follow-up. He won't be defeated. There's a reason he's come so far.[break][break]

But Stormy is willing to risk her Aegislash because that is its purpose, and she has more Pokemon on her belt. Something tells her Fernando is not as lucky.[break][break]

The Pokemon remains in its SHIELD FORM while performing a last-minute reapplication to DESTINY BOND. The second promise is less powerful because of the dire situation. The Aegislash didn't have time, wouldn't have time, before the BLIZZARD takes him down. But maybe it was enough.[break][break]

Rushing a move half-heartedly loses the potency of its full effect. Arguably, the DESTINY BOND that's not completed shouldn't be enough to fall the Legendary but the way the Tapu Fini starts to recline proves otherwise. Fernando immediately snatches the Pokemon back to it's Pokeball, unwilling to let it struggle and possibly faint on the field. They're both too dignified for that.

Begrudgingly, Fernando applauds her efforts. He never expected Bronwen to be able to take out his ace in the hole. Without it, the rest of his team is just a fragment of his power. There's no way for him to come back. Not unless he can find something that'll prove more impactful than his Tapu Fini.

"I never thought I'd be forced to resort to this."

Fernando readies his next Pokeball, sizing up his opponent, gauging her reaction before he commits to his next Pokemon.

Aegislash falls in two halves, sword and shield clattering to the ground. But the damage has been done and Fernando relents, returning his ace in the hole. Stormy's face depicts her disbelief - she had done it. [break][break]

But the battle wasn't over, and she returns Aegislash in favor of Wadjet. [break][break]

Upon entry, the black Charizard bellows in anticipation, eager to get her blood pumping.

[attr="class","spiral"]Hmph. It would be Charizard. Bronwen returns to her roots now that his ace is out of the equation. It would almost be symbolic for Fernando to use something she's seen before but his intention isn't for some long fated battle. No. He's here to win.

"Did you think I would lose that easily, Bronwen?"

His own choice in Pokemon is an Alomomola. He's used it a few times before, most noticeably to assist in a Pokemon Center by splashing about, and it's performance remains the same. Grounded, the fish cannot do much more than to flail around aimlessly, prepared to ENDURE anything that comes its way.

But she is visibly dumbfounded by the Alomomola he puts out on the field. Wadjet puffs smoke, but appears otherwise unfazed. She would defeat anything in her path, even a grounded, flopping fish.[break][break]

Wadjet performs a SHADOW CLAW, lunging from a distance with ghostly-manifested claws.

[attr="class","spiral"]In normal circumstances, Fernando's Alomomola wouldn't stand a GHOST of a chance against Bronwen's SHADOW CLAW. However, the Pokemon proves tenacious, able to ENDURE long enough to carry out its final act. As opposed to the rushed DESTINY BOND, Fernando buys enough time to complete his HEALING WISH. His other reason for drawing the Tapu Fini back immediately is under the hope that he could salvage what's left of its energy. He only needs a smidget for it to work.

The Alomomola faints but in return Tapu Fini lives.

The return of MISTY TERRAIN is the most appropriate way of announcing round two. Fernando doesn't bat an eye as he points his finger forward. "SURF." Without any outward pressure, the Tapu Fini takes time to channel the attack, bringing out an actual waves of water to crash down onto Stormy's side of the field.

Dread is a cold finger traced down her back. The Alomomola proves nothing but a pawn - used and discarded. Wadjet is only fast enough to react because of the MISTY TERRAIN, wings buffering her weight as she pushes off the ground. As such, the SURF is powerful and unexpected - but less overwhelming than it could have been.[break][break]

But it throws Stormy off of her roll.[break][break]

Her hand rises to the pendant at her chest. It grows warmer, glowing between her fingers. Wadjet undergoes a MEGA-EVOLUTION, growing in size and strength. It's risky given the Pokemon's newfound DRAGON-TYPING, but she needs the power boost if she expects to win this fight.[break][break]

And then the battle commences again, Wadjet pushing forward to use FIRE PUNCH. The move would BURN on impact.

He's come across the phenomenon several times already and it grows increasingly more common with each passing day. However, that doesn't mean he should take it lightly. Out of all people, Fernando understands the concept of being overtly cautious around an unknown factor. That's why he doesn't allow his sleight of hand to get into his head.

"Careful! It's stronger than normal Pokemon."

That much is obvious. Compared to the Aegislash, the Tapu Fini is unable to register a hit before it closes the gap with FIRE PUNCH. To both of their surprise, the strike lands, leaving a scorched burn mark on the Tapu Fini's body, as the impact pushes it backwards. Fernando only interprets it as a strong fire attack but the Tapu Fini knows better. Despite the MISTY TERRAIN, somehow, it managed to be BURNED. Ignorant to Bronwen's powers, the Tapu Fini attributes it to be the strength of Charizard's Mega Evolution and floats backwards, aiming another NATURE MADNESS at the wicked beast.

Stormy herself is not even fully aware of her abilities - only having seen glimpses of what she can do. Like spontaneously combust and burn down kyle lopez's living room down (almost).[break][break]

But watching Wadjet's fist make contact and the BURN that is left behind - regardless of the MISTY TERRAIN genuinely makes her pause. [break][break]

Wadjet, however, does not. [break][break]

When the NATURES MADNESS COMES, Wadjet shields herself with a PROTECT, unwilling to let herself be harmed so severely so early in the fight. Once it smashes on impact, she would prepare herself immediately for her follow-up move.

Tapu Fini immediately prepares a follow up, pooling up water from within its shell, as the Charizard approaches. Preemptively, it uses PROTECT in defiance of an assumed counter attack, ready to retaliate with SURF the moment the Charizard's attack is blocked.

The mirror-like shards of the PROTECT warn Wadjet and Stormy both of the SURF that follows behind. The water crashes over Wadjet like a wave of terror, ice-cold and relentless. Wadjet roars both with pain and with renewed vigor, her skin warming up rapidly to evaporate the damp.[break][break]

She pushes past her barrier of pain, driving forward in a FLARE BLITZ, swallowing the distance between the two. Stormy's breathing slows in anticipation. Though she feels its unlikely Wadjet can win this fight, she knows that they're stronger than they once were. She prays Fernando can see that.[break][break]

In the heat of the battle, she is oblivious and unaware of the shadow that crosses over them from a distance, the subtle tug in her chest from a bond recently made.

The HEALING WISH was a contingency plan should things go awry but never did he expect MEGA EVOLUTION to give him this much trouble. Watching her Charizard maul his Pokemon with FLARE BLITZ is a sight for sore eyes—

But it puts them exactly where he wants them.

"BATTLE ROUTINE: ALTER!"

Up close and personal, it'll be hard for the Charizard to avoid another SURF. However, the ability to guard against it with PROTECT opens up the opportunity for it to endure and retaliate. Fernando considers this and plans around it. Using his strongest weapon in a tournament is a bit preemptive but Stormy's cornered him in a tight spot.

The SURF from earlier that washed past her Charizard resurfaces, homing in on Wadjet from behind. Ignoring that, another SURF comes from the Tapu's shell, the fury of the sea at its beckon. Together, the water convenes in a sharp twist of force and raging rapids, manifesting into a water spout that out scales any normal attack.

Their Z-Move, HYDRO VORTEX, threatens to submerge them both in a whirlpool that'll crush what it doesn't drown.

He had expected, but he would be wrong. Stormy had the strength of a legendary behind her, even if said Pokemon was nowhere to be seen.[break][break]

Yet, anyway.[break][break]

Just as the Tapu's surf crashes back over Wadjet's scales, now nullifying the super-effective move that normally may have torn her asunder, a shadow looms overhead. It seems to channel both Stormy and her Charizard's energy, preparing them for the follow-up z-move.[break][break]

And then wings buffet her from behind and Stormy is pushed to the ground, scrambling for balance. Her breath is stolen from her and she gasps, looking up in time to watch Moltres dive into the whirlpool. It's AGILITY is strong enough, fast enough, to cut through it, talons reaching for Wadjet to pull her out of the danger.[break][break]

Wadjet is able to catch herself with her own wings after being dropped, though she looks nearly drowned. Nearby, Moltres ROOSTS, recovering from the moment of danger. [break][break]

Stormy pulls herself to her feet, out of breath, overwhelmed, searching Fernando's face for his reaction. Dread seeps into her expression.

[attr="class","spiral"]Water encompasses his Tapu Fini and her Charizard. It's a move made to make her submit and return it. That or leave Wadjet to endure until his Mega Evolution times out. Either outcome is acceptable but never could Fernando expect the actual results. The sight of the Kanto Legendary is a bad omen. Rarely do they intrude on something as trivial as a tournament between trainers.

Considering the work Browwen has put into taking out his Tapu Fini, Fernando's not confident that he can take it on alone. The fact that it rescued Stormy's Charizard shows no sign of hostility but he can't be certain. Instinct pushes him to draw another Pokeball; patience keeps him from making a move.

Eyes narrow in and Fernando's ready to take on a Legendary in order to both ensure their safety and to capture it.

"Bronwen, are you okay?"
