Team Rocket. [break][break]

A name he didn't think he'd have to deal with again since he quit. A name he tried to hide from by coming to Hoenn to restart a life he could call his own without them. Even when he heard they had attacked Slateport the first time, the young man decided it wasn't his concern anymore as he choose to live like a hermit in the apartment he rented in Sootopolis. Mush too his pokemon's dismay of his choosing to waste away. It wasn't until he heard that they were driven out and disbanded that a twinge of guilt haunted him for not helping. That was when he decided to try and get his life together again and do better. Hes taken the past few months to get back in shape before he decided to check in with old contacts and see what he could sniff out. [break][break]

Problem was he was so out of the loop and probably should have looked into thins better like old instincts were screaming at him to do. Maybe then he wouldn't be in Slateport City now, hidden in the darkness of trees as he made sure he was lined up to see if anyone would try to get inside the old museum. Through old contacts, and chatter among old, admittedly reckless members Razz could find tidbits of old members still wanting to live old glory days. Whether or not his information was completely reliable he couldn't be certain, but trying to use the logic of darker times it seemed logical. With the legends of pokemon that controlled the very land and sea themselves that lingered all around Hoenn it seemed like easy bait...[break][break]

Or was this too easy? Razz second guess himself. Could his information just be to try and lure old members and he was just rusty enough to fall for it? What would he even gain if he found them? Peace of mind of catching them? This felt like the kind of reckless plan his brother would come up with not him. As if sensing his distress with his psychic abilities Razz felt a small punch on his leg as he looked down to see Salem pouting up and him, the teen so distracted in his own thoughts he'd almost forgotten the cat was there. Letting go of a breath he didn't realize he was holding as he tried to relax and push those thoughts aside. [break][break]

Trap or not he was here now. All he could see is if this information would lead him to something good and be a possible first step for making up for things he done or ignored in the pass. [break][break]

some part of him had wondered if he would follow through. though he had been long-aware of the boy's prying, as well as the final destination his well-placed contacts were to lead him to, he could only gauge his intent face-to-face. he could not blame razz for asking questions--curiosity was instinctual--but he had to step in before things got too far.

it was a shame, he couldn't help but think, that of all people, they had sent abner kipling as his muscle. the two rockets stand along the wall by the door, masked by illusion upheld by his zoroark. marcel listens to razz's footsteps, watching as he walks past them without second thought.

he sends abner a sidelong glance: a long, meaningful look. "he's just a kid," he says, low enough for only the other rocket to hear, "remember that."

the illusion flickers, then falls apart. marcel turns to look at razz as the figures of him, abner, and their pokemon are revealed; for a fleeting moment, his expression looks regretful.

[attr="class","witness"]Abner's expression is much like the above when he hears Marcy, that's Marcel Maeda to most all others, scold him about the guy being a kid. Abner knew that. And even if he did, or didn't know that, the fuck did age matter?? Hadn't mattered in Kanto, did it really matter now?

Sometimes he forgot how soft Marcel could be. But mostly? He didn't care. They had a job to do and Abner was the scary one that would ensure they got the job done. That's what mattered, really.

So to Marcel's reminder, something like a crooked smile was given, a fake smile, something like the above gif but in smile form.

"Damn. Hear that kid?" Abner chooses to emphasize Razz' age simply because Marcel had to him privately. Maybe make Marcel take a dose of his own medicine.

You're not even allowed to think about it."

Much like the zoroark that's standing by Marcel, Abner has an alakazam at his side. She's hovering in a meditative state, spoons in hand, bending them this way and that as if she's bored of the situation and would rather ben somewhere else... which is true.

It was a simple twitch of Salem's ears and the start of an angry expression that Razz knew he'd messed up. The sudden appearance of the 4 figures did cause him to go on guard, and instinctively he did want to run. Wanted to quickly use Salem's psychic abilities to get some distance away from them, however there was something about the cold, commanding tone that triggered something in his head that forced him to obey. Right now he wanted to curse his parents conditioning but it wasn't the time. The Blue Meowstic's eyes flashed as it was ready to attack but Razz quickly snapped his fingers, and gave the cat a look to stand down. Okay he was going to have to make adjustments to his contact list later. [break][break]

If later actually came for him that is. [break][break]

Though for now Razz was going have to think of other plans. Should he play this out? Should he fight? He was silent for the moment even at one of the other men's mocking comments about not even being 'allowed' to think. Which spoiler alert he was already doing. Though one thing was clear about this clear set up, the Rockets definitely weren't truly disbanded. If they were why would they care that someone was snooping about false rumors? Okay mission mode time, is what he told himself to try and help keep his calm, he always found it simpler to deal with people with that thought it mind. "Or I'll end up like some of the pokemon you fought in the ring I'm guessing?" he couldn't help but comment to which he instantly regretted but there was that curiosity there, he had recognized the spiky haired man from a few fighters he got stuck watching in the pass. Though the other man he couldn't place. [break][break]

For now though all Razz could do is see if he could stall, distract anything for an opening that he could get out. "So what now, trying to test a system of old members sniffing about? High persuasions for a dead team," he tried to provoke a bit seeing if he could get the two talking to try and judge the character of the two he was dealing with. Hopefully it worked for now but at least Salem was there for back up, and he could try to bring out Sabrina if needed be. [break][break]

[attr="class","mthread"]when people made assumptions, they tended to jump to extremes. marcel has never quite pinned down whether this is down to want, or a genuine belief. does razz suspect? or does he simply want to clear his guilt that badly? either way, his train of thought is too linear.

he scoffs. "you think dead means clear of charges?" whether or not rocket existed in the present does not affect the crimes of their past. evidence can be dragged up; people brought in. the league still wanted their revenge, and weren't content with letting the dead rest. what they thought was the dead, anyway.

marcel glances at abner. his comments had been pointedly ignored, though the grim line of marcel's mouth gave away his irritation. while he's adamant on only using force when necessary, he couldn't say the former beast had the same level of restraint.

[attr="class","witness"]Marcel's look, the kid's comment? Yeah, Abner wanted to tear the kid in two now, just to prove a point. But would he? Hell no, that'd take too much work, and Zam wasn't his most 'brutal' pokemon. No, she was too wise for that, or some shit.

"Trust me on this one, it so does not."

Abner's response was in partnership with Marcel. Despite the differences, he needed to be with Marcel on this one. If only because they needed to show unification and not division. Abner was smart enough to know that you don't show the enemy, or in this case some stupid and nervous kid, your division. It only gives them more fuel.

The lack of intent to kill was hoped to be proven by how Abner relaxed his shoulders and otherwise showed an expression of disinterest in the realm of violence. Though Marcel would know, all he'd have to do was ask and Abner'd be ready to kill.

Razz kept his guard up around the two, he could could easily sense their annoyance, but it was still an unknown factor on what they would do as he didn't know these two members. Or old members if there really wasn't a new system of Rockets poking their heads again. And while the older man did made a point it wouldn't explain the point of a set up. There would be no reason to reveal themselves in the first place if all the snooper needed to do was see the information was wrong. So while he could understand that most of them were very much not cleaned of their crimes, as it was he had to hide his real name just to ensure people couldn't connect the dots to him it just didn't make sense. Though so for now no attacks have been called so he would see if he could get out of this without much of a fight. [break][break]

"Course not, but there is also a difference between those who know when to lay low, and those who keep causing trouble," was his simple reply, "While crime will always be a thing, no one needs those problematic people still carrying that name to be causing problems for others," he continued trying to word this in a way that made it seem like he just wanted problematic old members gone. Rather than he was looking for what 'wasn't' there. It seemed like the safer thing to do while he was cornered between what was most likely what he 'wasn't' looking for. [break][break]

[attr="class","mthread"]marcel doesn't believe a word of it, but that razz is looking for the new iteration of rocket is not the only possible conclusion. now he's on the enemy side, marcel wonders if the league have sent him to dig up old evidence. either way, he wants the boy moving on.

"that's not our problem," he answers, crossing his arms, "rocket's dead, they can do what they want with that name." his zoroark shifts slightly, and marcel has to check its not planning to attack before he continues. "what i'm worried about is people like you." rats. he didn't know every single mission razz had been on back with rocket, or whether he had the means to expose each one of them to the league.

Well this conversation had gotten delightfully boring. Rocket wasn't supposed to be as outwardly violent anymore, which was likely the only reason Marcy was sticking around and doing work for them anyway. Though Abner would argue that Marcel had a dark streak in him he was fighting hard to keep down. Probably why Marcel didn't like Abner too much, because Abner embraced and encouraged the darkness Marcel fought so hard to discourage.[break][break]

But Marcy's heart wasn't the point. This isn't Kingdom Hearts.[break][break]

Instead, the point of moving on ... Abner agreed with. He was moving on and accepting the fact that he'd followed a mad man nearly to his own grave. Had to be taken from the region so he didn't tear rocket apart protecting that mad man out of blind loyalty.[break][break]

"Or just cut to the chase and give us the reason you're out here. Why follow information if you knew good and well it's a trap? Miss it that much?"[break][break]

Abner's tone isn't harsh or cold, it's just dull. Bored and ready to get back to his video games, or to get some food. Food sounded good. But so far, this turned out to be a real boring mission for Abner, if only because it made him think about things he didn't want to think about.

Razz bit down on his lip in both annoyance and to keep himself from mumbling 'so they say' in regards of the Rockets being dead. If they were dead he felt that this trap wouldn't have been a thing, yet here he was. Trying his best to keep this without ending terribly. He ignored the growl his Meowstic gave when he noticed the Zoroark move, but did tense at the 'people like you' comment. There were so many different things that could mean and Razz couldn't read this man well enough to know what he meant, "And just who are people like me?" Razz questioned hoping he could get a better read. Did he mean it in the surface level of old Rockets poking around? Was he thinking of people trying to discover a possible new Team Rocket that was in hiding? Or did the man know he had joined the League with the Rangers and now considered him a problem. All the ways that phrase directed were bad. [break][break]

"Like hell I do," Razz grumbled, sicked at the idea of anyone thinking he enjoyed anything from back then. "And I've told you my reason, trying to deal with old problematic people," Razz stuck to his original story doing his best still to choose his words carefully, "They do something in the name of 'Team Rocket' and the League will go down harder on anyone they find once associated with it whether they're part of it now or not." He intentionally left out his thought about the trap as for him it was the most suspicious thing, for men wanting to move on why trap others was his biggest issue, it wasn't until that thought when a possible answer clicked but he'd save it for now, try it later if this answer wasn't good enough for them.

[break][break]he glances at abner, who by some miracle wasn't trying to solve the problem with his fists--perhaps he's even proud, in a warped sort of way. then, back to razz.

"unless we've gotten it wrong?" unless you are a threat. marcel lets the question hang. the boy could go, so long as he played his cards right.

The way the guy's quick to bark out the same story makes Abner feel a bit uneasy. What proves his point, is how Marcel shoots down the kid's excuse like a sniper in a battlefield. It was pretty impressive and for a moment, Abner's not hating Marcy... yikes.[break][break]

Call the media.[break][break]

The way Marcel focuses on the ceiling for a moment isn't missed either. It's how Marcel takes a moment to collect himself by staring off into space is a sure sign it's about to get heavy. Abner tenses, expecting the need to act. All Marcel would have to do is give permission.[break][break]

But, being that he wasn't given any, Abner restrains himself like a good pet. He doesn't even comment. Marcel's handling all the talk and Abner's comfortable with that. Less he had to talk, honestly, the fucking better.[break][break]

He's a little disappointed he doesn't get to throw his fists, but maybe Marcel won't bitch at him about fight club because of him being such a good boy on the mission??? ~~Not likely, but one can dream, can't they?~~

The young man stood silent at the accusation of using the old name in order to get this information. Part of him actually thinking about it as sure he used old contacts but he doubt that meant using the old name. Maybe he was deeper in hold habits than he realized, this was something he was going to have to think over later though for now he needed to focus. Confused crossed his only visible eye when the one in charged spoke about dealing with 'real criminals.' What the hell did he mean? [break][break]

Yeah sure whatever he was a 'kid' in their eyes seemingly thinking this was some sort of game, those words didn't matter. What made him confused was dealing with real 'criminals' did these two have some of or authority job that allowed this? Or was this just some sort of their own authority as past members of trying to deal with other Rocket members? Or 'old' Rocket members if their words were to be believed, but Razz had grown into much too paranoid trainer to believe that outright. His suspicion was still there, and to him the fact that this trap was set up still made him feel like there was something behind all this. [break][break]

At the question he just stared at the two for a moment, his paranoid mind trying to search for any hidden meaning. In the moment Razz did his best to take a mental photo of the two to sketch out later before taking in a deep breath and letting it go. His shoulders slacked, fist unclenched, even the expression on his face seemed to relax from the anger he was feeling before. It wasn't that he wasn't on guard but he knew this was his chance to let this conversation go. "No, nothing wrong here but my paranoid suspicions apparently," he grumbled wanting to ask so much more but he rather not drag this out longer, "Are we done then?" he questioned preferring not being the one to leave first as he still didn't trust the two.
