After far too many games, being called pretty boy so many times if he had a tail it'd be wagging, they had gotten dinner of sorts. A bunch of junk food. Which they ate while in line for the ferris wheel. If he'd timed it right, and he figured he had, they were on the wheel and it stopped right as the fireworks would start to go off.[break][break]

While in line, he gave Stormy his open mouth for her to throw snacks in, catching them in his mouth and chomping away on them with a laugh at how it landed, if it landed, when it landed not in his mouth and in somebody's hair and they gigglesnorted while pretending it didn't happen.[break][break]

"You're gonna get just kicked out."[break][break]

Abner's tease was followed by a hand full of popcorn being thrown at her mouth. All in a playful manner, of course.

People stare, turning around to scowl at the two making a fool of themselves in the line. They litter - unintentionally - but several Wingull swoop in to clean up their mess. [break][break]

Stormy is laughing too hard to open her mouth properly for Abner's next attack. As such, the handful of popcorn bounces off her nose, her eye and her chin. Only one piece sticks to her lip, the rest is awkwardly fumbled as she attempts to not drop all of it to the ground.[break][break]

"The only people who care are the grouchy old people."[break][break]

As she says this, an older couple with rowdy kids turns to stare at her. She seems none the wiser, however, focused entirely on Abner's open mouth as she attempts to land a reused popcorn piece.[break][break]

The couple whispers something about him but he doesn't care, mostly because kids'll learn the language eventually he's just helping push them along, right?[break][break]

"If we get kicked out, it's not like we can't take flight or something and watch from the actual sky."[break][break]

With that in mind, he's prepared with his mouth open for her next shot. The couple and their kid are escorted onto the ferris wheel, and they're next. Abner munches on the snacks in his mouth before he steps back to the gate that's closed. The ferris wheel has to go around for those who were currently on it before they can load more, and Stormy and Abner'll be first on, as planned.[break][break]

He might've ~~threatened~~ persuaded the employee to stop the ferris wheel so they were on top when they boarded while Stormy was in the bathroom at some point. Shh.

His response elicits a grin from her. His use of foul language quite literally flies over her head - she has a foul mouth herself.[break][break]

"True, Wadjet could totally fly us up there."[break][break]

But it wouldn't come to that, because they're up next to get the first (and best) seat on the ferris wheel. She lands the popcorn piece between his teeth and chuckles at the satisfying crunch. [break][break]

It takes a while for the wheel to go a full circuit, but she's patient. Patient, and lost in the slow start of the fireworks. A few more have been set off in preparation, a reminder of what's to come. She can hear excited couples and families behind her gushing over how exciting it will be to watch them from the ferris wheel.[break][break]

She watches it slow to a halt and the passengers peel away into the night, looking for their next thrill. They're allowed past the gate and she finds a seat, still warm from whoever had last sat in it. It's a little gross, kind of.[break][break]

As she'd taken her seat, he takes his own beside her, and doesn't mind being close to her. They'd ridden other rides that day and gotten close. He once had her legs wrapped around him, so honestly, close proximity didn't bother him any.[break][break]

He likes to touch. He's like a child. Don't take him into a valuable store, cause he's bound to break things.[break][break]

"What about you?"[break][break]

Being that there's enough room in his lap for the snacks, his hands are pretty free. He stretches them out behind him on the seat, one around her, the other around nothing but air as he relaxes in the seat while it rotates slowly to allow others the chance to get on the ride as well.

Stormy smirks as he slides in next to her, as his arm reaches around him to either side to subtly cocoon her. He's as subtle as a brick wall, though, but she doesn't mind. They've been close all day today and she's in a good mood.[break][break]

She does, however, opt to take one of the snacks from his lap to hold in her own hand. The bag of licorice releases a strawberry smell upon retrieval and she tears a strand out for herself. [break][break]

"Born ready."[break][break]

There's a grin on her face as she studies his for a moment. She finds herself relaxing backward into the seat as he does, likely resting her head against his arm. Her feet dangle from the seat as it rotates to let people on. [break][break]

"It's too bad we couldn't have had the wheel all to ourselves. Wow-- that's super selfish to say."[break][break]

She frowns at the thought.

Abner's tone, though dull and seemingly unwavering in relaxation, is serious. His expression is as well, even with the smile on his face. It fades as he turns to look at her, waiting for her to look his way before continuing.[break][break]

"Why bother not being selfish? Just me an' you up here. And trust me when I say, it won't bother me a bit if you're selfish."[break][break]

The ferris wheel is turning, stopping, and turning to load more people on. But once they're loaded, the wheel is turning at a consistent pace once again.

Stormy breathes out a sigh as he reassures her, and she watches his face turn serious. It makes her think, makes her get lost in the way his eyes darken despite his lips retaining their smile. She blinks, tilting her head away.[break][break]

"You're right."[break][break]

Her dip in mood is quickly overcome, however, by a particularly loud firework crashing into the sky with a great boom. It startles her for just a moment, causing her to lurch forward in excitement.[break][break]

"Look! It's starting. Can you smell that? That smells like someone's probably gonna get burned."[break][break]

The ride is fully loaded now and she feels the familiar lurch in her belly as they ascend. Excitement builds in her fingertips and in her expression as she glances back to see if Abner is watching.

His eyes were on the girl beside him for a little while after she jumped. Her excitement is contagious and he finds himself smiling. It's when she looks his way that he can't help himself, and, he can't stop himself.[break][break]

Reaching his free hand up, he'd attempt to place it on her cheek before leaning forward to bring their lips together in a kiss.[break][break]

Something about her was wild and free, like he so desperately had wanted to be. Yet, she's holding herself back, and Abner hops that - if this kiss lands and he's not denied - she'll learn that with him, at least, she can do whatever the fuck she very well wants.

It's not that her excitement falters, per se, but that she grows wide-eyed and shocked when his hand brushes her cheek. The motion is so gentle and yet aggressive with intent that she's at a loss for words. And then he kisses her and her heart beats rapidly in her chest, but she doesn't pull away.[break][break]

When she pulls away she's blushing, shaking her head in amusement.[break][break]

"Was this your plan all along? Get me alone in a cage to plant one on me? I will admit - it's pretty romantic."

Abner didn't know what romance was. Wouldn't know it if he was dozens of feet up in the air with a gorgeous girl and fireworks above them. Clearly, when he was in his solitude in Kalos, he just watched fighting shows and anything remotely horror or gore related and no rom-coms. They weren't on his 'for you!' list so, oh well.[break][break]

Either way, he wonders if being romantic was the wrong move or not. He didn't mean for it to be romantic.[break][break]

"You don't suck. I wanted to apologize, so this day was a way to apologize. As far as the kiss goes, it wasn't planned. I just wanted to kiss you."[break][break]

Had wanted to for a while but she definitely wasn't open to the idea until recently. He knew her to be that kinda girl. But he also wanted her to understand he wasn't looking to be romantic with his physical advancements.[break][break]

"Nothing romantic to the kiss, though," he grins her way, his bastard grin. "Sorry but I'm not sorry."[break][break]

And if she wasn't careful, he'd do it again, just because he liked how her temperature rose.

She leans away from him, hand peeling through the bars of their cage. He questions her and she gets the feeling he's either a really good liar or he genuinely is confused by the concept of romance. Whatever the case, Stormy shakes her head and rolls her eyes.[break][break]

"Apology accepted, I suppose. You could have just said 'I'm sorry'. I don't hold grudges."[break][break]

But he grins at her with the same smug, bastard grin she'd seen before when he'd first pissed her off. She shakes her head, peeling his arm out from behind her to return to him.[break][break]

"Good, because it won't happen again. We're just friends, Abner."

When she peels his arm away, Abner's frowning. He liked being close to her because she was warm and he's cold blooded by birth or nature or something. Mostly it's metaphorical, but still accurate.[break][break]

'Did the term friends with benefits die while I was hibernating?'[break][break]

His thought is kept to himself but he does decide to breach the subject. They're up in the air, after all, and it's not like she can get away from him. She could give him a silent treatment and that'd be real boring, but before he can think of that being a consequence he's opening his mouth.[break][break]

"Friends with benefit not somethin' you do, Storm?"

In the background the fireworks continue to burst and crash and light up the sky with beautiful colours and sparks and flame. [break][break]
