This time it'll be different.

Katherine was familiar with the course and knew the ins and outs of it. Poliwhirl, her chosen partner, seemed quite excited to get things started. He knew what was the task he needed to complete and he was positive that they could reach a higher score this time around.

"Come on, get it together, Poliwhirl. Punch your stomach or whatever it is that you do."

The water-type complies and follows his trainer's order without so much of a second thought, beating his belly strongly. While he seemed to have exhausted himself, his power grew tremendously. The first obstacle in the course is broken through with a lazy punch.

"Can you guys keep up?" Kat spared a glance to her course partners, wondering if they could match her pokemon's strength.

Dijon cried out drumming his little belly full of energy to buff himself up! How the little guy wasn't worn down yet surprised him, they had taken a break to the pokecenter and to get some food, but Razz didn't think that would be enough to fully repower him. Yet here they were again as Dijon wanted to keep on going on. And again he was with a different team, well sort of. Laurence he met during the speed race, Kyle in a different attempt at this course, and now some new girl which thankfully for him seemed to be to full of herself and her pokemon to be interested in chatting. Better for him honestly he was tired of new people for the moment, now was just time to focus on going forward when the bang went off.

"kinda, yeah," kyle replies weakly.

his smeargle doesn't seem to share kyle's energy. despite having participated on multiple courses throughout the pokeathlon event, it still was ready to go for more runs of various courses kyle lazily assigns him to because of his versatility.

it psychs itself up after seeing both the poliwhirl and the makuhita. muscles bulging with a wave of its tail, the smeargle now finds newfound strength that looks comically unfitting to its frame.

There was another course available, and this time he wanted to take one of the…newest companions out for a spin.

He hadn’t given her a name yet, because Lars mostly held off on giving his Pokémon names until they had revealed a bit of their personality to him. So what was a Meditite like, when it started smashing things to kingdom come?

Was she calm? Cool? Collected? Or was she an inner sadist who did nothing more than keep it all in until she deemed it necessary to unleash hell in one single strike?!

“Psych Up,” he said, copying the others’ strategy. As some book he once read said, ‘when in Rome, do as they do…’ or some shit like that.

Off went the Meditite, ready to bash some heads in after she’d copied the Belly Drum from the Poliwhirl and the Makuhita.

It's only the first obstacle that's laughingly easy to break through.

The next one, a thick concrete wall, earns a punch from Poliwhirl as well - one that carried more heat and strength behind. The water-type recognized where it needed to put in the work and where it could bum around without slowing his trainer down. "Go, go, go. You're doing it, Poliwhirl."

Katherine's words of encouragement fill the pokemon with more determination, making their time on the course pass faster.

Slow average start, nothing too bad. Probably was for the best as after a dew rounds of this, but also the other courses Razz could use the slow burn. Though this was a race so maybe they should be trying a little harder. Time for the obstacle concrete walls, how lovely. This one was defiantly only for the pokemon to crash through to which Dijon was more than happy to oblige as rather than using his first for the first one he just used his whole body like he was a mini-yellow wrecking ball. Part of him wondered just how long he could keep it up but with the smile that was on the little fighting type's face he was def having fun.

kyle finds it weirdly unsettling to have his smeargle to be as physically strong as this. there was a reason he allowed this particular smeargle in his home to go paint his fences or walls and the like.

it charges after a wall without thinking. it breaks it and they move on to the next part of the course, but it still disturbs kyle to see something as feeble as a smeargle to this feat.

Now that his Meditite looked particularly… bulky, he wondered what the Pokémon was thinking of doing next.

Seeing that there was a part of the course that had a large barricade made of several thick planks, all it took was one swing—more like, Lars presumed it looked like an open-palm strike, before watching the wooden boards explode into…

Wow.

Okay, that’s scary, not going to get on her mad side! He thought as he followed the Meditite, making sure to avoid all the splinters and shards of wood that had been sent flying.

Note to self: never get this one angry! He added as an afterthought as they moved on to the next set of obstacles.

The pillar of stone is a bulkier obstacle to pass through, let alone shatter easily. But Poliwhirl accepts the challenge with open arms - literally. The water-type leaps towards the pillar with the intention of slamming his belly into it, using the speed from his short job to amplify his strength and attack.

The barrier shatters, but at what cost? Poliwhirl almost seems like he's out of it entirely.

"P-Poliwhirl, are you sure you can keep going..?"

Well, since he hadn't fainted... Kat could only trust her partner to be aware of his limits.

After the walls it was the pillars, they were giving them no quarter here. These definitely weren't simple things that the pokemon's trainers could help them out too much, but thankfully due to the boost Razz know that they wouldn't need it. "Same as before," he ordered Dijon who nodded as the heavy fighting type jumped onto his trainer and then up above the pillars as he grabbed one of them and spun his body for a SEISMIC TOSS. Using his spinning to smash through multiple ones rather than just one at a time before throwing the one he had. Good pace so far, lets see how well they could keep it up.

a whistle comes from kyle that stops his smeargle from trying to keep the beat up from going. there had been no need for it since their targets have long been destroyed.

they move from their current place to another, spotting another group of boards to be broken along the way. a simple nudge of his head to the direction and kyle's smeargle already gets the memo from his trainer.

It was basically ‘go ham and wreck everything in sight’ for the Meditite, and this she took to with a gleeful look on her face.

Not too far behind, Lars followed his Pokémon—making sure to avoid any collateral damage or flying debris that would be flung their way.

Thankfully, the trick from earlier was still in effect, and the Meditite then threw herself forward in a High Jump Kick attack, smashing a thick barricade of planks and concrete blocks apart without batting an eyelash.

Clearing the debris, the two continued to pick their way through the area.

Punch, punch, kick, punch.

At this point, Poliwhirl only followed a routine and listened to his instincts. Katherine's words of encouragement fell on deaf ears and her concern was not met with the slightest of reaction: the water-type is too focused on completing this task and proving that he's capable of doing so to pay attention to the woman who was supposed to take care of him later.

Fourtanetly, he might just get away with his attitude if they manage to break their last record.

Razz slowed down only slightly at the site of a new obstacle, where bolders were in the way. Dijon use his strength to smash one but seeing it happen Razz realized it was just going to be slow if they kept smashing. "Oi, don't bother with that," he pushes on one of the boulders that would be near impossible for a human to move on their own without some trouble, "Just hit it hard enough to move it out of the way, it'll save your energy," he told him hoping that he would understand what he meant. If Dijon was bigger he'd say just plow right through but most of the team were small, just moving it enough to push through was enough. [break][break]

With a nod Dijon obeyed pushing rather than breaking to easily get through. Hopefully it didn't come back to bite 'em.
