As a familiar roar tore through time and space and launched them into what Doug tentatively decided to call a wormhole, they found themselves standing before the by now familiar sight of the guardian of time, looking up at his imposing frame.

"Oh hey. You again." Doug said wryly.

The first time he had met this thing, he (along with several others) had tripped into a rip in time and space and had been summarily thrown back to proper reality after witnessing perhaps a few too many things.

The second time, it had tried to kill him on ninja's orders.

And this time, it...

"Goddamn it!" He hissed as it charged them, yanking onto his Cyclizar's reigns for some emergency evasive maneuvers—

Causing the dragon to nearly trip into its own face as the world rippled yet again, bringing them to another vista, far away from the effigy of Dialga.

A familiar battlefield stretched out before them. Galar as they had known it... or perhaps not?

Titans fought in the distance, destroying the tiny, nearby villages.

His eyes narrowed at the creatures in the distance, his hand reaching for his pokeballs as they continued to wreak havoc. It was all merely a simulation, but still—

"Hmm?" He uttered as Greyson's words dragged him out of his thoughts, turning his gaze over to the man.

He held a sword now— somewhat familiar. He turned his gaze over to the shield, scratching at his chin thoughtfully as he approached it, hefting it up before strapping it to his right arm.

"Yeah, that feels fine." He said after a moment, nodding at the other man.

He wasn't sure of what exactly he was supposed to do with these, though. Hopefully the shield alone came with its own power, like the weapons in Galar, because he certainly wasn't Zamacenta— a regular shield would help little against those titans.

And as if hearing those thoughts...

Once the battle was over, he could release a relieved sigh, his body sagging as the tension abandoned his body, nearly toppling on his ass.

"Well..." Doug began between his pants, before giving Eva a helpless shrug. "Honestly, if you don't know..."

One of them was the region's top scientist— and it was certainly not his high-school dropout ass.

Approaching the corpse, Doug patted his pokemon gently, mumbling his thanks as the pink glow on his palms seeped into their carapaces and knitted close their wounds. Then, he turned his hand to Eva's pokemon.

"So... whadaya think, prof?" Doug said as he moved to stand besides Eva. "Are we in a prologue for the Night of the Living dead?"

God, he would almost not even be shocked. Hoenn dealt them so much shit already, a zombie apocalypse almost seemed like lightwork.

With the sudden burst of both power and speed, Kama found herself getting smashed into at high speed, her body coiling around her opponent's form briefly before getting launched back like a bullet, skipping along the soil like a rock over the water's surface before crashing into a brick wall.

The wind was knocked out of her as she fell forward and onto her knees, her scythes coming down to prop her up as Doug spun on his heel towards her.

Mercifully— her chitin carapace offered good protection against brunt of blunt strikes, and her flapping wings had slowed her down... however slightly.

"Kama! Still on this?!" Doug asked her with a shout, to which she flung herself back to her feet, panting hard.

She was still in this!

He smiled brightly. He had expected some sort of argument, but the Commissioner had accepted the suggestion rather readily.

"Yes! Thank you, ma'am." He said, nodding his head as he moved to stand.

He admired how quickly and decisively she had accepted the proposition, without any stubbornness getting in the way. She had listened to the (admittedly self-proclaimed) experts opinion on the matter and accepted the suggestion.

By comparison, Fernando hadn't even admitted there was anything wrong with himself when Doug had asked him at their little dinner.

"I'll see you again soon. Stay healthy." He said, saluting the commissioner with a smile. "By your leave."

It was nice, having a superior who actually listened. If only she wasn't so far up the chain of command that he would rarely ever get to suggest anything to her.

Her opponent was a truly bizarre creature. The way it moved was nothing like what a living and breathing creature should've, but it did not feel like battling against an automaton, either...

As a clean strike suddenly broke through her guard, she attempted a close dodge once again, bending back while swinging up her scythe in an arch—

The Scyther's eyes grew wide as she was repelled through sheer might, neither gravity nor tactics capable of overpowering the sheer force behind the stubborn bug's rampage.

Doug held a shaking fist up. Ah, the sheer brute strength of a Pinsir... as beautiful to see as ever...

Wait.

"I was too hasty. You can't match his brute force!" He said, swiping his arm. "Use your speed and strike while remaining at range!"

Nodding, Kama attempted to leap back as her opponent came at her once again, her wings flapping wildly as she swung her arms, harsh winds whipping up towards the approaching Pinsir.

With one last, climactic clash between the two pokemon's blades, the battle came to an end, the smokescreen that had permeated the field getting whipped away by the mutual last blows.

Slowly, Doug released the breath he hadn't realized he had been holding, feeling his shoulders sag slightly.

"Hooh." He wheezed, holding his heart, before raising his arms in the air triumphantly. "Still the master!"

For her part, Kama released a victorious roar, arms widespread as she reeled as far back as her spine would allow.

FINALLY! A GODDAMN WIN! WOOOOO!

As the Scyther continued to break character to express just how happy she was to not be made to eat shit again, Doug approached Yuina with a smile, holding out his hand.

"Ya did well, private." He said with a wink. "But... I might have teeny-weeny unfair advantage there."

He had, after all, trained her. If anyone knew the ins and outs to her strategy (for now), it was probably him.

Despite the jokes, however...

She whiffed her strike, getting a searing strike in return that sent her hurtling back, heels digging into the ground beneath her as she stabbed her scythes down to stop herself.

"Hey, don't get too excited, Kama!" He called out, cupping his hands around his mouth. "First, get into your own rhythm!"

Kama narrowed her eyes at her opponent, before releasing a low breath and nodding, crouching low yet again as she controlled her breath, before launching forth once more.

Her eyes followed her opponent's blade carefully as she closed in the distance, before suddenly surging forward in a burst of speed, rounding around her opponent in a flash of movement in an attempt at striking their back.

The plan was simple; come at the opponent at an angle while his center of mass was shifted to his pincers, then deliver a free blow while creating distance with Vacuum wave.

Hitting the floor with a low duck, the Scyther grumbled as she leapt forth, the searing light of Moonblast burning along the edges of her carapace as she charged to cover the distance between her and the machine-like pokemon.

Yet another new thing for her to gawk at. Just what in the world had happened while she was resting in the garden? Giant pokemon, crystal pokemon, machine pokemon, superpowered cosplayers...

With a frustrated growl, she finally leapt forth and over the beam, going for a close shave in order to get the most damage in a single strike—!
